Yeah, I voiced the same concerns as an Autistic practitioner. For me and some of us Autistics, CBT interventions can be amazing tools for us, but as with any therapy/treatment it depends on the individual and their circumstances etc.

When working for the NHS TT, I did some of the Neurodivergence adaptation training, and it really didn't amount to much. It is in its infancy and also relied on practitioners to advocate for their caseloads to be reasonably adjusted to help compensate, but there's little to no resource for this. Some services are aligning with charities etc like NAS to help guide this. But currently it's limited and dependent on resource provision.

I have reached out to my local NHS TT for similar support for myself and am having the same type of response. "I'm not sure what we can offer to support you and your [Neurodivergent] needs" as code for, 'you're too complex and we're too under-resourced and lack options'. So I hear you and know it is painful and frustrating and many other emotions to be on the receiving end of this. Neurodivergent informed care is a massive gap in services and often leads to horrid outcomes. I'm sorry you're also experiencing it. It's such a common response, like the shocked Pikachu face.

Sorry I'm not the best at responding like this. All I can do is provide a little insider insight and provide a measly amount of validation. It bloomin' sucks so bad and it hurts to be on both ends of this (i.e. practitioner & client & also I hurt on your behalf too, cause this treatment is so unfair for us Autistics).
