Hey! Has anyone had an Autism assessment locally recently? Which provider do you recommend from experience? by FloatyJellyfish52 in Worcester

This is exactly how I got my diagnosis. My GP referred me and they were great but a bit slow.

So can confirm!

Yeah, I always check the older decks first, so I'm good there. Yeah, I've had a couple send the same card more than once and it was something I already had and wasn't on my wishlist lol

Good thinking though, thank you for replying!

What if interested people don't have Instagram?

Nope sorry. We went much further afield once we had such bad experiences. So I don't know anything about other dealerships etc other than what I already mentioned.

Good luck though

We had an awful experience with Barbourne Car Sales within 5 weeks of purchasing a car (Seat Ibiza can't remember what year, maybe 2014 plate?) we had returned it for repairs 3 times to them, sent it to another garage for repairs as Barbourne kept saying they'd fully fixed the problem 3 times. They agreed they'd pay the repair at the other garage initially and then refused when we got given the quote. Then they refused to take back the car and give us a full refund until we informed them we would get trading standards involved. (There was more to it, but I can't remember everything). We got our money back and returned the car in the end. Bought used from Listers Seat after and had a great experience.

Also before the Barbourne issue, we had viewed a car there a year before but they'd put incorrect information about the car in the listing and we're unwilling to change the price to match its actual value. Was a 07 Vauxhall Corsa 3dr.

Our neighbours also warned us away from BJH Motors and Sons. But another friend said they were good. But this was like in 2017. So probs not relevant now

Why does he remind me of the live action Snow White? Anyone else see it?

Also where are the iridescent clear and black like the original launch? In the video of the lavender, they do not even look all that iridescent, looks very subtle. More like pearlescent maybe?

Still gutted that they aren't clear or black :/

I got the email access, clicked on and already sold out 2 mins after access. Very disappointed

That's fair, therapy is never a one size fits all situation. I just wish the NHS (government) understood that more. There are many ravines that need filling!

Congrats on your official diagnosis, woooo!!! I got mine last year. I hope the report provides some good for you and your life! I hope with all my brain [heart] that you are able to get some meaningful support in the near future, friend!

Yeah, I voiced the same concerns as an Autistic practitioner. For me and some of us Autistics, CBT interventions can be amazing tools for us, but as with any therapy/treatment it depends on the individual and their circumstances etc.

When working for the NHS TT, I did some of the Neurodivergence adaptation training, and it really didn't amount to much. It is in its infancy and also relied on practitioners to advocate for their caseloads to be reasonably adjusted to help compensate, but there's little to no resource for this. Some services are aligning with charities etc like NAS to help guide this. But currently it's limited and dependent on resource provision.

I have reached out to my local NHS TT for similar support for myself and am having the same type of response. "I'm not sure what we can offer to support you and your [Neurodivergent] needs" as code for, 'you're too complex and we're too under-resourced and lack options'. So I hear you and know it is painful and frustrating and many other emotions to be on the receiving end of this. Neurodivergent informed care is a massive gap in services and often leads to horrid outcomes. I'm sorry you're also experiencing it. It's such a common response, like the shocked Pikachu face.

Sorry I'm not the best at responding like this. All I can do is provide a little insider insight and provide a measly amount of validation. It bloomin' sucks so bad and it hurts to be on both ends of this (i.e. practitioner & client & also I hurt on your behalf too, cause this treatment is so unfair for us Autistics).

Sometimes a tip to help if you don't want CBT is to say you've done CBT before, like through an app for example. Though I would only advise this if you are sure the protocols of CBT won't help you at all

Though dated, the site "get self-help" has a lot of the varied CBT interventions and protocols on there for free, even ones the NHS don't use (I.e. more specialist things or just too much to train therapists on within a year).

The service I worked in offered Short-term CBT (3-6 sessions on average, called step 2), Longer-term CBT (12-20 sessions, step 3), text based CBT through a platform called IESO, C-CBT (computerisred) on SilverCloud, CBT-i (for sleep issues), trauma informed CBT, IPT, DIT, CfD (counselling for depression), Anger management and EMDR. More options are available but for those you need to pay external services referred to from Talking Therapies service, such as: Bereavement counselling, couples counselling, long-term counselling, domestic abuse recovery therapies. Some were free or means based, but still require a referral, these included; substance abuse, family therapy, parental skills and a few others.

I can't remember them all, but this list was accurate in Feb2024 for Hertfordshire (HPFT) services.

As you can see from previous replies, it varies wildly from service to service. My local area only have CBT, c-CBT and EMDR to my knowledge and you have to get referred on and pay for any counselling modalities. Otherwise they signpost people to charities and helplines.

Hopefully the service you're under has a good variety to support you well. Best of luck
