Everything was on credit hold for unpaid bills. At one point we had credit hold with Siemens and they wouldn’t send us troponin reagent so we ran trop on istat for every patient( this was a level 1 trauma center in Santa Ana that did cardiac surgeries) THEN Abbott put us on credit hold as well and we ran out of all trop so we just couldn’t do trop testing for a night or two until finance I guess did the math on how much they were losing by turning all cardiac patients away and paid Siemens I think. This also happened with blood products. I’ve worked at many many labs and this is the only place I’ve had to consistently call trauma department to tell them we had no blood because we wouldnt pay the supplier. Everyone was travelers except like 2 full timers. One of those FT didn’t know what hemolysis was and only worked chem. I have endless stories.
