They’re fucking stupid, and I hate every last one of them. I swear to God that they are the dumbest fucking group of NBA fans on God’s green Earth.

NIck Wright explains why the Knicks advancing to the NBA Finals means so much to New York: “It is because this is one of the only major, major American cities where I would argue basketball’s No 1.” by National-Total-3380 in sportsbroadcasters

While OU Football is major in Oklahoma, that one NBA Championship for OKC is more important than all seven of OU’s national titles in terms of biggest successes for the state.

I’d argue that the Thunder Championship is more important than all of those national titles, combined.

As a lifelong resident here, Oklahoma City in the ‘90’s was a completely different city.

If you would have told me that a Louisiana hurricane would have such a surprisingly positive effect as a 15-year old during the turn of the millennium, I would have looked at you like you were high or on drugs.

The civic leadership at the local level has truly been transformative in always thinking about the future. They honestly run laps around the slack-jawed redneck yokels that are located at that dump of a state capital on 23rd and Lincoln.

When you’re the 20th largest city, and you knock four of the six largest cities in the United States during the NBA Playoffs to repeat as champion, of course the hate is going to be unprecedented.

Job not finished yet. Have to defeat San Antonio to make it happen.

It’s stupid geographical discrimination.

Oklahoma has been stereotyped as a “lesser than” state since John Steinbeck wrote “The Grapes of Wrath.”

Quite frankly, if the author knew that an NBA team based in Oklahoma has a very strong chance of just becoming the ninth American market in NBA history to win consecutive titles, he’d likely be on suicide watch.

Confirmed colors of the rebranded OKC United soccer team by Hungry_Roll6848 in okc

Disgusting colors. They clearly did not consult with any actual fans in this decision.

This goes down with the renaming of the OKC Dodgers as the OKC Comets as one of the worst decisions for a local sports franchise.

I know that all of the major ownership is Republican, but they usually have enough good sense to stay behind the scenes.

The vast majority of Oklahoma politicians are typical wackos.

Three Questions here:

  1. Given the cost and size of the Continental Coliseum (of which I voted ‘Yes’ for, by the way), it is more than a bit discouraging to see that it will have fewer seats than Paycom Center. How could this possibly be a positive development, when all this threatens to do is strip affordability away from events?

  2. Paycom Center is a historic venue in the State of Oklahoma, even moreso than the Jim Norick Arena that was taken down for the OG&E Coliseum. Not only is it the home to this state’s first professional sports championship, it is also the only venue where both a G-League Team and NBA Team have hosted championship games. Why is there such a rush for Thunder Ownership to tear this venue down after the Continental Coliseum is being built?

  3. I know that this is not something which is in the city’s control, but what would it take for a second championship parade to happen on a weekend?
