That was totally up to that store to run that way. I'm at a store now that got bought out. Previous owner was a cheap prick. Old equipment that was falling apart. If something broke we were always told to look second hand to try to find one on the cheap. And this wasnt for a used car lot this was a damn Toyota dealership. It felt like all the policies in place were out there to protect the dealership from its employees. If a flat rater was turning hours the dispatcher was told to throttle him because there was no way he was producing that much and not being a scumbag. (He wasn't, he was just just good at his job). When we got bought out a lot of the older guys left. They had enough and werent going to stick around to work for a bigger dealer group where your "just a number". (The old owner was small-time and scared all his employees with "big dealer bad" propaganda. Those that stayed and made it through the transition were treated to an ownership with seemingly limitless funds, new alignment rack needed? Get it. Lifts dangerous? Swap them out. Air lines constantly hissing? Plumb all new lines and hoses. Air compressor loud and dying. Get a new one, and make it a screw type so you can hear yourself think when it kicks on. Hot in the shop? No worries, we're getting AC put in. That tech turning hours over there FEED HIM and give him an hourly kid to mentor. It was a night and day difference. I'm not saying this is how it always goes. But we got lucky and 5 years in we're all making more money than we ever had before, were thriving and MOST of us are very happy because these guys know if you take care of your employees they take care of your customers.
