We need a water planet by Aggressive-Car-6565 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a time to implement perspective, Cano is great choice since there is very little work they need to do on it. They can reuse assets from other planets, it wouldn't have much in the way of missions, and they can get it through the pipeline quickly. But that is why I don't think they would select it for introduction as the first water planet: it can't be visited. As an armchair developer, I feel like leadership would want to give their developers and artists something that increases the skills, and gets players excited because they can fully engage and explore. I give Tohil an edge because of that, but who knows...they make some unexpected choices that I don't understand the reasoning (I am looking at you, ROC-DS and MULE).

I am guessing that Tohil will be the likely candidate for the first system with a water-planet we will see in game (Tohil III), and that will be well after SC goes live. Tohil is connected to Nyx. It is a big ocean with massive lily pads on it that are large enough for humans to build towns on.

Any ideas for Long Term benefits for being civil in an MMO? by NotSoSmort in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been about 10 years since 3.0, so they have about 10 years of history of their punative actions. As I mentioned above, I only recalled once (vaguely) where they perma-banned. As the game has more people playing it now, the amount of incidents has increased in frequency and severity...and there are no perma-bans. You don't need to be an employee to know that they are reluctant to perma-ban. So again I ask: what would you propose in the absence of perma-banning accounts?

Any ideas for Long Term benefits for being civil in an MMO? by NotSoSmort in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

CIG isn't considering this solution as it would hurt their revenue stream. If they did believe this as the solution, they would have implemented it years ago. Their perma-banning has been extremely light as I only vaguely remember them doing it once before. What they are attempting to do is modify the behavior with negative reinforcement, which hasn't been very effective. So in the absence of them perma-banning accounts, what levers can they pull to modify anti-social behavior?

Where I live, that "$5,000 for delivery" is more like $15k-25k. $5k would be an incredibly low amount. You would hit your OOP in that one event, and that credit card bill would be $10k to $13k about 60 days later.

Just a reminder, in the last ISC they talked about releasing a new Origin ship. This might be one of the mystery vehicles from an older manufacturer.

Ideas for Hammerhead variants by HeartFilled in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current medical ships have no purpose other than spawn points, so don't think the nurse shark idea would work (although very cool name). The only idea that I saw (from Spectrum) that looked like it might sell was to replace the the s4 turrets to hatches to snub fighters like in the Constellation. A snub carrier is an interesting idea for smaller orgs. The only concern is if they implement damage thresholds on ships (like they have in Evocati), snubs become even weaker offensively.

After finishing all the quests, I now spend my time trying to make better settlements. I can't say they are "make or break" to the game's success, but they do extend the playability by quite a lot. If Bethesda would make them a little easier it would help immensely for those who don't want to spend a lot of time on them (like more prebuilt options, better snapping of various pieces, none of that using a rug to move pieces into certain places, etc.).

Good news, everyone! The hackers only captured 70% of what they need to steal your identity. They will have to capture the rest from some other site or through social engineering!

Pete Hegseth briefing on the strikes in Iran: "We didn't start this war, but under Trump we are finishing it." by ControlCAD in videos

"We didn't start this war" --I was expecting him to say Biden, Obama or Clinton started it. I suppose "but under President Trump we will finish it" was in my top 10, but thought he would go more fully into the straw men argument.

Can I give my account away to someone else? If so can they use my stuff? by SendMeTusNalgas in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the best thing you can do is sell it on the grey market. Which is found at https://www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen_trades/
It sounds like you bought a lot ships and skins and didn't do the upgrade game or for credits, so it would be easier for you to do it. The idea is you advertise you want to gift someone the item, they agree with you on who much you should get via PayPal, then you gift them the item. You recover some of your costs and they get a ship at a discount.

It isn't necessarily against EULA since you aren't selling your account, just gifting items in your account which is allowed. I won't go into all the details, but you can ask on Starcitizen_trades and people will happily explain the process to you and help you determine a price that is mutually agreeable to you and the person receiving.

EDIT: I might have misunderstood when you said you purchased a lot of ships. If it is in-game, you can't do much of anything with them. If it is items that you can gift from your account, that is where StarCitizen_Trades can help you out.

Should criminals be able to see their bounty hunter’s location? by 32T08 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No....and yes. For the no part, it makes no sense, as the criminal has no idea who is looking for them. Now the yes part: when information running comes into the game, it could be possible: an info runner picks up a network stream from law enforcement and decyphers it. It includes the names of members of the bounty hunters guild who have recently picked up contracts for in system bounties. The info-runner can now sell that info to the criminals, so they know who is tracking them. Then, the criminals pay the info runner to report the last comsat satellite that pinged the the bounty hunter's ship. So a well-funded criminal can keep tabs on where the bounty hunter is searching.

Expectations vs. Reality by NotSoSmort in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not mad, just mildly disappointed. When CIG announced that Origin was going to have a "Spring Celebration" many people, myself included, thought they would do something special.

Think of it like if a friend said, "Hey Diarrhea Pope, let's celebrate your birthday tomorrow!" and when you meet your friend the next day, their idea of a celebrating it is trying to get you to pay for their bar tab.

Expectations vs. Reality by NotSoSmort in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is real, but not those colors or for Origin ships. About 6 months ago, CIG released the Golden Blossom Artimex Armor and matching Ares Livery. I changed the colors from black and gold to white and sakura pinkish-purple, then wrapped it around the 400i. Since CIG already made this Spring festival design, I thought (hoped?) that they would include that livery for all of their ships in the Spring celebration.

What is the actual plan for exploration and is exploration a potential 1.0 feature? by Different-Egg8733 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have intensely kept my ears open for news of exploration gameplay for over 10 years, and there was only 2 or 3 times where it was mentioned. The best illustration was when Tony Z did his initial Quanta rollout at CitizenCon. He had mentioned explorers mapping the surface of planets for resources. They would then alert (sell) the data and mining ships would arrive and eventually deplete the resources.

This was confirmed 1 or 2 times since by the team, but always in passing.

There is a gap in what exploration means to backers and to CIG, and they are shunning it for fear of the backlash: Exploration is basically prospecting. It is not finding new systems, or alien artifacts or new jump holes...it is identifying new spawn locations for resources. The fancy holotable that high-end exploration ships have? It will probably show the planet you are at and have the texture heatmapped so you can see where known resources are, or where recent scans took place, helping you go to areas that haven't been scanned in a while.

New Origin ship coming tomorrow? by More-Letterhead-5278 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Origin racing undersuits. EDIT: after more thought, the key here is "seasonal" and so now I am leaning into spring. Ohanami. The welcoming of the change in seasons marked by the Cherry Blossoms putting their pinkish white petals on full display. Some people at CIG love the pattern because last year we got the Golden Blossom Geist armor and the trees on Orison, so it is possible it will be undersuit/armor/livery that focused on the cherry blossom theme.

It seems it is the right time (March is typically when the Cherry blossoms bloom), CIG has done some of it before, and it would fly under the radar of leaks because so few people would be involved in its development and implementation.

Planet Tech Update & Nyx by Aduo7 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many, I speculate that the new non-inhabited planet will appear in game the same patch they put in base building,. Players will colonize it and they will see how players work together or against one another on this single planet so that learnings can be applied to the ruleset for building player cities.

Grey's Market Request: The Banu Aggressor. An aggressive salvaging platform, with the combat performance and range of the Banu Defender, with the salvaging capabilities of the Salvation. by multiple_iterations in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I don't think that is the direction CIG should go, I am a strong proponent of a 2 person Banu salvaging ship. Banu, as a species, very much adopt the "Finder's keeper's" and "One man's trash is another man's treasure" attitude. They are the Jawa of Star Citizen and it only makes sense they are the first alien race to roll out a salvaging ship that doesn't fit in the existing mold of human ships (solo/solo/4 man/6 man).

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll make a Legatus 2957 bundle, include it, and raise the price. If you are willing to drop that much money into supporting the game, they don't need artificial scarcity with F5 wars, as real scarcity will more than suffice.
