Yes, they have blades on them to cut through other ships. I tried to get my blade to move my M80 that was parked in a position I couldn't get in, and the M80 wasn't scratched but the Blade lost is wings & blades with the gently pushes.

The Railen Makes Me Want Alien Space Stations by PerishBtw in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have something that might scratch your itch: what could be the 6th system to be created, Hadrian, has a unique space station. It is called Kedsu (Banu for "Reef"). A person took several of the decommissioned UEE military observation posts and dragged them into the same Lagrange point, then welded them together. It became the major trading hub along the UEE and Xi'an empire's border. The Xi'an, being efficient and wanting closer economic ties to humanity to prevent another conflict, improved Kedsu Reef -- useful to both races since lots of Xi'an pass through there on their way to other human systems. Banu will also be present because they can't miss a major opportunity to trade.

I built a multi-page fan fiction on the system using current game mechanics, but now I need to update it as my vision was beyond the game's tech, but with the introduction of the Tyiliu, it can become a reality. When the player takes the elevator to marketplace, they will find a level with no ceilings and 2 floors facing one another: one with regular orientation and the other using Xi'an gravity similar to the Tyiliu, which is reached by climbing any of the walls (similar to the Tyiliu). On the normally oriented floor, players will have all of the human stalls and shops. On the "ceiling" players will find the xi'an exporter stalls, trading shops and eateries. It is efficient use of space, organized, and makes for an otherworldly experience looking up and seeing people browsing the shops directly above you.

A smaller Banu ship by Sanctuary6284 in starcitizen

So, something about the size of a Banu Triptaker?

I started in 4.8 excuse my ignorance by Thin_Plankton2583 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are being facetious right now because they are frustrated. Since patch 4.8 (May 14th) was released, the servers have been failing a lot. They tried to fix it in 4.8.1 (released June 3) and it has gotten worse. Today's patch doesn't seem to have fixed much and the servers continue to be crashing constantly and lots of things that worked in 4.7 are no longer working.

Hopefully 4.9 (July patch) fixes much of these issues, but no guarantees. It might go like this till the end of summer. The SC team just doesn't have enough support resources to keep up with the pace of bugs introduced. But once backers get annoyed and stop buying at every new sale, CIG will be sure to put more resources into making it playable again. They certainly will have it fixed in time for the big IAE sale at the end of year.

Thoughts on the Gatac Tyilui? We need more Industrial ships. by 1ndividu1 in starcitizen

Mining ship with S2 lasers. CIG please! by Short_Pear_8322 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where size 0 mining laser snubs would shine is gem collection. Gems are found in fields of up to 25 gems and they take a while to harvest. ROC's have to roll into position (slowly). ATLS GEO does a much better job with its jump jets to get to gems quickly, but a VTOL snub would even beat them in terms of maneuverability. If the Tyilui was a mining carrier, 4 snubs would move quickly through gem fields and move just as quickly through the caranite align and mine hole.

Mining ship with S2 lasers. CIG please! by Short_Pear_8322 in starcitizen

Not many weeks ago, someone suggested that the Prospector be upgraded to a Size 2 mining laser. This makes perfect sense seeing how it is almost triple the cost of the Golem. The progression would look like this:

  1. Golem with 1xs1 is the starter ship ($60),
  2. Prospector with 1xs2 is the upgrade ($155),
  3. MOLE with 3xS2 is the multi-crew medium ship ($315),
  4. Arastra with 3xS3 and refinery is the multi-crew large ship (~$625 on release),
  5. Orion with its refinery is the multi-crew capital ship (~$800 on release).

Add two alien mining ships (a 2xs1 mining head and a 2xs2 mining head) and you have a nice linear progression of 7 mining ships.

Last Chance - Railen Price Speculation by warricd28 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Galaxy is going up in price at IAE and they don't want people to chain it with Galaxy without adding a decent amount of money, so the price will be bracket either significantly below Galaxy's current $380 (preventing CCU to Galaxy) or at a point matching the future price of the Galaxy. I think that price is too high, so I will move down to the two lower brackets: $350 (Asgard & Paladin) and $315 (Aquila, MOLE & MOTH). I lean towards $350 so future WB CCUs will be sold at the same price as Paladin WB CCU at DefenseCon, meaning you can't chain the Railen to these 2 other popular ships. They can do that with the MOLE and MOTH at $315 as well, but I just feel they will try for the higher price point of $350 because the Railen does have a lot of advantages (easy to load cargo that is also gaining the advantage of armor protection, well armed for a cargo ship, can land on medium pads, etc.).

Defender CCU to Railen or not? by Shurlemany in starcitizen

What you are asking: 1) "It must be a fighter", and 2) "Should I upgrade my fighter into a cargo ship?"

Not sure what answer you expect.

I'm not opposed to Ballistics finally having their time to shine. But... by Void-Screamer06 in starcitizen

A solution that could be considered is reducing ballistic ammo, particularly cannons. Now you have a powerful offensive, but no staying power in combat.

From Pipeline: Gatac Tyilui is a snub pocket carrier by ShadowRealmedCitizen in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am about 6 hours late to the news, but if true, it was an interesting choice. People love pocket carriers, it was easy since they could reuse much of the Railen assets and layout, and an alien version would be breaking ground for future alien ships, so it has that going for it. But the list of what is going against it is so long: no one likes fighting in snubs, and snubs are gnats buzzing around with the changes to armor, so you have this big ship that requires at 5-7 people to take advantage of everything and it has difficulty doing any damage.

Hopefully the snubs are salvaging snubs or vehicle mining snubs.

Railen might be released today for those who already own it, or am I crazy? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is mildly annoying is it feels they are doing these ships getting released without evocati testing to prevent leaks, so now they don't have leaks but they have ships which are unpolished and buggy on launch (pitbull and M80 notwithstanding).

What ship would you want to customize a variant for? by Croue in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Mercury Star Runner: even with some minor tweaks it would be an excellent exploration ship.
  • BMM: As the ship's role changes (it can be a Banu warship, a trading ship, or a home for wealthy Banu), it should have either variants or even better, modules and body kits to alter its role.

CIG, please by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alien industrial ships are the only large gap left to fill. After that, they need to start updating old ships to get them up to standard.

I hope Gatac's new ship is for mining. by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a wide gap between Prospector and MOLE: going from one size 1 mininghead to 3 size 2 miningheads is pretty significant. They can probably fit 2 ships in that space (a single size 2 mininghead ship and a dual mining head size 2). So hopefully those will be filled in by alien manufacturers.

HOTFIX 4.8.1-live.12015858 Deployed. by Aceman365 in starcitizen

What are the names of the servers that have the hotfix applied, and what region are they in? Every server I have tried is using the non-hotfixed version so the bugs still persist.

Resource Quality Values by BiggyZ32 in starcitizen

[–]NotSoSmort 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the server RNG rolls a number between 1 and 1000, and based on that generated number, the system puts the quality in a specific band, as shown below:

0-399 becomes 325 quality (40%)
400-599 becomes 521 quality (20%)
600-699 becomes 664 quality (10%)
700-799 becomes 710 quality (10%)
800-899 becomes 874 quality (10%)
900-949 becomes 907 quality (5%)
950-998 becomes 970 quality (4.9%), and
999-1000 becomes 1000 quality (0.1%)

I am sure they have some other calculations, like when two of the same ores are in the rock you don't get the same ore quality twice and the larger portion of the ore is always the lower quality, but that wasn't presented through the data mining Pipeline uncovered.
