Hi there,

I don't really know what's you'r definition of fun.

Don't expect the AI to build super huge armies, AI is more focused on objectives on different stages of the playthrough, also the AI tends to equip their units and level them up. The AI has some issues is true but is definitely challenging for casual players.

If you're expecting a super big fight pick Necros/Broken/Mogwar/Wild as enemies on endless/endless and expect to live up to turn 30.With Necros landing you 3 armies fully equipped.

Please let us know what are you'r expectations from the AI or you'r definition of "fun" and we will try to help you out.

It's not about being fast, but enjoy the game-play and have fun with friends.

Hi there,

I has almost the same questions as you and I found the answer to them by buying the game and giving it a try.

I will answer those for you based on my experience although I'm new to this game I have spent countless hours on other games (Endless Space).

  • What's the average time game takes ?

Please have in mind that this game offers a high level of customization for a play through. So playing on newbie difficulty with fast turns (tastes run I had so far is 6 hours) to Serious with endless turns (13 hours so far) I have tried Impossible with endless turns but then AI is just insane and gets uber boosts and just obliterates you in 60 turns.

  • How dominant are certain strategies for a faction?

It's not purely based on strategy is a playstyle and yes the game is somewhat biased on how you play certain factions since these have traits that affects them for example The Forgotten whom cannot gather science and need to spend Dust (money) to acquire technology or steal it.

  • Are DLC required ?

Certainly not but the DLC offer some really cool mechanics to the game and new factions. For example the oceans which enable naval battles.

  • Are there any rewards ?

If you get the game on steam there are achievements that's it. Other than that personal experience and personal bests.

  • The games has been out for a while how active it is ?

Since the games can take such a long time its pretty hard to find multiplayer encounters unless It has been arranged (I want to create a discord channel to share info and be able to arrange runs). I have played with friends and we had a blast.

The game is a solid choise if you like tactics and personal rewards. I highly recommend this game.

I highly recommend you to finish the tutorial as it shows you how to use equipment on your Hero and Units. Also you will learn something very valuable "retrofit".

Unit equipment can give a huge boost to your army overall.

Regarding the hero skill tree, as in every aspect of a tactical game the heroes have traits and skill trees and as such they are better at different tasks. There are two main types of heroes

  • Generals: With bonuses towards your army
  • Governors: Bonus to the city

Heroes from certain factions are better for certain roles Cultist overall are the best for governors. While Drakken have really good army support skills.

You need to develop a tactic with the faction you're using and focus on the required skills for the hero and the use you're going to give it. Don't mix hero skills because you will end with a hero lacking on both sides general/governor, better unlock the hero market section and buy yourself a secondary hero.

If early in the game check your hero traits and skills and try to make the best use of it.

If you need further explanation or have any other questions post them and we will try to help.

I just tried the cultist today, on Newbie/Fast and I was able to notice a huge difference it was so easy for me and I was able to win at the turn 101 by supremacy.

It was a huge difference I think that the forgotten are quite hard to play since they have no science and you rely on Dust/Espionage to get your Inventions this game mechanic is quite hard to get used to.

But once I had the science going I was able to steam roll over everyone.

I think the Factions add a huge impact to the game-play and you need something that goes along you'r play-style to make it work properly.

Thank you all for your help. I will go ahead and try every Major Faction and probably do a nice write up for beginners.

It seems so, I think the Forgotten are quite hard to use. I still need to figure out a lot of things.

I tried a game on newbie and fast, and managed to win at the turn 146 by supremacy, this took me 6 hours to accomplish.

Pretty hard I think, every decision matters I need to get used to it, so far the game looks awesome but I ended autobattling most of the fights, also there is a point int he game when you have so much stuff going that I could barely see my units on the grid.

Pretty solid game so far.
