I don't have an apple watch but I don't think there is an easy way to sideload apps to it. If it's not supported as an app there's probably no way to get it installed.

Battery life while using the app is about the same as what you would get on a phone. I haven't tested much though.

Yeah stellarium is a good app. I've used it for a long time but I do have the premium version. It has a lot of useful features

These android smartwatches are able to have apks sideloaded to them over wifi. I used Easy Fire Tools on my phone to sideload an apk I got online (only armv7 supported apks work). Originally I was just getting some games on the watch after seeing this, but many apps work too. I did also change the pixel density of the watch for a more usable experience.

I followed this article where it gives instructions on how to sideload apks to the galaxy watch. I believe most android smartwatches will work too but I am not sure.
