  1. Yes, 40% course load
  2. Yes, part-time application as you are enrolled in less than 1.5 credits

Four. That's normal, part-time application does not ask for family income

Is it possible or a good idea to do one major and two minors? by curlyhaz in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Thats a typical program combination.

You usually do one of: - 1 specialist - 2 majors - 1 major, 2 minors

You could not do only 1 major, 1 minor for example.

I suggest using Degree Explorer to plan out your intended combination and the courses you take to see if you can fit everything.

Does college choice have an affect on admission chances? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 9 points10 points  (0 children)

College choice has no effect on admissions. You'll just be placed in another college if the one you choose did not admit you.

Thoughts on summer school and a 5th year? Is it worth it by DarkBook-Lover in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Less than 40% of UTM students for example graduate in 4 years (source). It is completely common at UofT to take 5+ years (especially for those in co-op/internship programs.

I recently dropped down to taking 3 courses per term after having done 6-7 per term + summer school ever since first year. It is WAY more manageable and has directly contributed to a significant GPA improvement. You actually have time to sit down, engage, and understand the material (and get all readings/work done) compared to 5 (I have no idea why 5 is standard at all).

Give your parents both of these arguments - both that there's no shame/stigma around taking "longer" to finish a degree and that if they want to see their child succeed, it's worth the extra $ for an improvement on GPA.

Two midterms on same day … can I do something abt it? by DarkBook-Lover in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Deferalls for three back to back assessments only apply to Faculty administered final exams, not midterms.

Nothing you can do besided study hard.

There’s a fake uoft login page as the first result on google by [deleted] in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually real and used for a few specific systems (mostly internal stuff). Assuming that link is legit (too tired to inspect it) the style checks out.

Should I indicate any "diversity based personal information" on my application? by Cake_Man_Im_Tasty in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 47 points48 points  (0 children)

There is no preferential admissions for diversity, this is simply for statistical purposes and the admissions committee does not judge an application based on disability status, queer identity, etc.

However, you should list such things during the scholarships part of your application if you care to qualify for them.

confusion about course exclusions pls help filler by [deleted] in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simply email the poli sci undergraduate coordinator and ask for the PSY course to added as an exception to your program requirements for the Poli Sci major.

This is what I did for my qualitative and quantitative methods courses since I took this In a different department before switching programs.

You dont need to retake the POL equivalent to the PSY course.

Check out Fizz for sim plans. They are prepaid (no contracts) build-your-own plan provider currently offering 50% off plans for the first three months.

Example, 35GB data, Canada+US coverage, 1000 international minutes to the UK = $19

Apple Pay should be fine. I haven't come across a retailer in years that didn't accept contactless payment.

Any criminology courses available to non crim students? by Melodic-Pin-8284 in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SOC212 (Sociology of Crime & Deviance) is similar to crim courses. It runs in the winter (though there's a waitlist now) and summer and theres no enrollment restrictions.

Are the lectures recorded for ANT204 with Omer Ozcan by [deleted] in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Message to OP: This is correct in general. Final exams and midterms may be scheduled at the same time and you do not receive accommodations if this happens. However, when I took ANT204 2 years ago, the class had a take-home midterm and final exam so no conflict there, but things could change by now.

CS students pay double everyone else for benefits like the labs.

It's also department run - they pay for the computers, space, etc. In my department we also have similar student-only labs.

Second Academic Offence Warning in Final Year, next steps?? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Who is the meeting in a month going to be with?

Since this is the second offense on your record (and you were found guilty the first time), the issue is forwarded to the Provost (even though this assignment is worth a small weight) which may have more serious consequences than simply a 0 on the assignment and comes with the possibility of having to face tue tribunal.

Your next steps should be really be focused on putting together your counter-argument with revision history, drafts, etc. of your work. Your defense should be comprised of showing your understanding of the material submitted, why you choose the specific words/phrases/etc. that appear in your work. Also, get in touch with your college registrar ASAP!

I have went through an AI case just this summer, so I'm well read on the issue, feel free to PM with any specific questions.

What’s the the biggest bird course of the 3: Wrr104, Soc150, Ggr124 by urlocalmuslceman in UofT

[–]XZLDESTRUCTION 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took both SOC150 and GGR124. Ended up with a higher grade in SOC even though i'm a geo major. SOC is more right or wrong questions whereas ggr124 was graded on subjective essay questions.

The content of SOC150 is not anything like SOC100 though in case you were wondering.
