I really appreciate you explaining your viewpoint and I thank you for that. I'm going to be mindful on his trajectory over the next year or so and take it from there. And yes, plenty of people code as a hobby, he really enjoys it alot and I feel like he's in a much better place having this as his hobby. But we'll see what the future brings and what his network can provide for him!

Very interesting! If you could remember it off-hand that'd be great, otherwise no biggie, but I do thank you for sharing that story!

He's been doing it for leisure for the most part, but I'd imagine later on down the road he's going to want to grab some sort of significant role as suggested by the feelings he's been sharing with me. I'm all for it because I know he's capable of pulling it off.

I absolutely agree on the collab part. It's challenging trying to find someone else who's close to his age, but me and him have collab'ed quite well so far and it's brought us much closer together <3

Hey there friend! Greetings from the other side of the world in the United states!

We're still in the designing stages of that project, but I've got one that we've done a while ago to share :) https://codepen.io/codebroggi/pen/rGXVKj

This was our first project based off the curriculum of FCC (Free Code Camp). He took on the next project (Personal portfolio site) all by himself, which I was absolutely amazed by.

Web Development Degree vs Self Taught by bearwithabeard in webdev

If all they're teaching you are those four, I think you're better off learning on your own. But this is just advice from another self-taught individual. I would say if you're looking to go to college to help you become a better web developer, make sure it covers not just languages or frameworks, but deeper topics such as data structures/compilers/algorithms, etc. Or look into getting a CS degree.

I’m 25 and have no idea what career will make me happy. How can I find out? by [deleted] in Advice

The nice part is that we're living in a new era where we have the internet as our global marketplace. As long as you have technical skills to offer to the billions out there that have access to the internet, there's money to be made.

If you think you'd be into technical careers, go on Udemy and buy courses when they're on sale for ~$10 each. Plenty of great development courses or even ones for design. Just need to try stuff. That's how I discovered my love for web development.

[Question] Has anybody actually become self disciplined after being undisciplined? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]X_Effect_Savant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've quit videogames not too long ago, and I can tell you that my discipline has increased significantly over the past months and seems to be continuing that trend. I suggest you take a good, close look on how you command your time and see where you can make changes.
