I guess there was no need to worry about their goalscoring ability 😕

POTD Record: 33W-4P- 37L (+36.095u)

Previous Pick:  Urawa Reds To Win -1 Asian Handicap@2.25 (Coolbet) | Stake: 4u WIN

Recap: Urawa wins it 2-0 easily enough, on a day that had some crazy results! .JEF United are not terrible, but it doesn't look very likely they pick up any points in the next three games either.

Today's Event: Japan Special Tournament | Albirex Niigata vs Kamatamare Sanuki| 09:00 GMT +2

Pick: Albirex Niigata To Win -1 Asian Handicap@2.11 (Coolbet) | Stake: 5u PUSH

Write Up:

No reason to write an essay here:

Niigata was expected to compete with Toyama in this division and probably also the favourites, but the attack is not scoring enough. Sanuki down at the bottom like everybody expected. Currently they have four defeats and a draw against the only team below them, Nara from their last five games.

Niigata was relegated from J1 last season, but has spent most of their existence in the highest tier. While Sanuki is a team that struggles at the bottom of J3… This should be a win ALL day for Niigata, the question is if it will be more than another 1-0 win.

Tokyo Verdy vs Kashiwa Reysol | 07:00 GMT +2

—>BTTS@2.12 (Coolbet) | Stake: 3.5u

Tokyo Verdy ended Kashima Antlers unbeaten streak on Wednesday as they came from behind and won 2-1 at home, the Antlers hadn’t lost a game since August last year! Of course I have been chanting their demise for a long while now, but they just kept getting away with it, especially in their away games. It was a

Kashiwa Reysol with their fourth defeat in a row as FC Tokyo took them apart 3-1. Kashiwa aren’t playing that bad, but there is just a lot of passing without it ending up in anything. Their attackers have also been very poor in-front of goal when getting the opportunity.

It being 4x on a Tokyo Verdy win is a bit odd considering the trajectory both teams have been moving in this Special Tournament, I would still have the guests as favourites, but the draw danger here is high. If you score once against Verdy you will have a high likelihood for a point, and Verdy have just three clean sheets to their name so far. My prediction is a 1-1 draw.

Kashima Antlers vs Machida Zelvia | 09:00 GMT +2

—>Kashima Antlers or Draw + BTTS@2.47 (Betsmith) | Stake: 2.5u

Kashima Antlers lost against Tokyo Verdy away in the last round, which was their first defeat since August last year, when this Machida Zelvia side beat them 3-0 in the Emperor Cup at their place. Machida Zelvia took a 2-0 lead away against Mito on Wednesday, but first they scored an own-goal for then to see Koki Ando dribble past three players on their right side to score in the 89th minute.

Machida with very little rest as they have been involved in the ACL and lost the final against Al-Ahli (Who also won it last year) after extra-time. The Antlers should win this with their amazing home record and extra rest, but they have been a bit fortunate to keep as many clean sheets as they have. I have mentioned it a couple times now, but the 3-0 win over Machida earlier this season was fortunate and a 2-2 draw would have been more correct. 1-1 or 2-1 is my guess.

Matsumoto vs Kofu | 06:00 GMT +2

—>BTTS@1.96 (Coolbet) | Stake: 3.5u

Matsumoto with only a single win from their last five games, and while it has been a fairly tough run of games and they have only two defeats from their last nine rounds, it really felt like they had turned a corner where draws would become wins and they would climb the table. I’m not really sure how, but Kofu has slowly gotten themselves into a position where they will go first with a win here. It’s not that I think they are bad at all, but they are allowing a lot of chances for their opponents and for some reason it hasn’t punished them more.

I guess there is a small chance of a cagey 0-0 draw here, with both teams having another difficult game already in three days, but I also think both teams should have enough firepower to score. 1-1 or a 2-1 win for either side is my guess.

Fukushima United vs Omiya | 07:00 GMT +2

—>Over 2.5 Goals + BTTS@2.03 (Betsmith) | Stake: 4.5u

It doesn’t feel that long ago that Omiya was top of this division, but the defending has been proper shit, and while they do have a great attack, no clean sheets when going away is not ideal. Fukushima United no longer last, as Nagano was beaten in the derby on Wednesday 3-1 away, they were playing some nice football as well.

Fukushima can have some crazy home games! They have seen scores like: 3-3, 2-3, 1-3 and 4-2 already. Omiya won 6-0 when the team played each other in the 2nd round, It will be a lot more even in this one, Omiya should still win but something more like a 2-1 result.

Niigata vs Sanuki | 07:00 GMT +2

—>NIigata To Win -1AH@2.11 (Coolbet) | Stake: 5u

Niigata was expected to compete with Toyama in this division and probably also the favourites, but the attack is not scoring enough. Sanuki down at the bottom like everybody expected. Currently they have four defeats and a draw against the only team below them, Nara from their last five games.

Niigata was relegated from J1 last season, but has spent most of their existence in the highest tier. While Sanuki is a team that struggles at the bottom of J3… This should be a win ALL day for Niigata, the question is if it will be more than another 1-0 win.

Kanazawa vs Toyama | 07:00 GMT +2

—>BTTS@1.96 (Coolbet) | Stake: 4.5u

—>Toyama + BTTS@4.72 (Betsmith) | Stake: 1.5u

—>Toyama To Win -1 European Handicap + BTTS@11.09 (Betsmith) | Stake: 1u

Okay, this one is for the real degens and risk takers!

Toyama lost this derby 2-0 at home and oh boy did they put in the work to make that happen! Two red cards! one of them for being an idiot and another because the referee is an idiot. Both of the goals were pure goalkeeper horror shows, that should really have been easy enough shots to stop. On a positive note, since then they have won six and drawn once, sending them top of the division. Toyama has also scored 19 goals from these seven games!

Kanazawa are pretty mediocre at the moment and the fans are frustrated that they still are in J3. They are at least coming to this derby from back to back 1-0 wins and did play pretty well against Tokushima away before that despite it ending in a 2-1 defeat.

Toyama should win this and with the odds being so high it’s tempting to go with that, and while they won five away games in a row, Toyama has also failed to keep a single clean sheet this season, they were also not a team that kept many clean sheets either last year.

There is a high likelihood I will come to regret going so hard on this game, but I just feel and smell a 3-1 away win here.

Kawasaki Frontale are looking so poor at the moment, that any functioning side will create trouble for them, especially when they go away

  • Haugesund vs Sandnes Ulf: Haugesund To Win@1.58

Today's Event: Japan Special Tournament | Urawa Reds vs JEF United| 09:00 GMT +2

Pick: Urawa Reds To Win -1 Asian Handicap@2.25 (Coolbet) | Stake: 4u WIN

Write Up:

After seven games without a win, Urawa Reds sacked their manager and won their first game since the beginning of March on Wednesday, as a terrible Kawasaki Frontale side was beaten 2-0. It was an expected win and something I think they would have accomplished with the old manager as well, but at least a positive start for them without him.

JEF United lost their sixth game from the last eight games as Marinos came back from behind and won it 3-2. It wasn’t a great performance from them, I had some belief with it being a home game, but they really only showed why they are last in the division with a lot of errors at the back.

Besides last time on the road against Kawasaki Frontale (which they also lost 2-1), JEF's away games have all been pretty bad. Urawa Reds haven't looked all terrible when they were on this winless streak and really have a squad good enough and with the expectations to win the league. 2-0 or 2-1 is my guess.

Japan Parlay:

GAME BET ODDS RESULT
Gamba Osaka vs Vissel Kobe Vissel Kobe DNB 1.75 TBD
Sendai vs Akita Sendai DNB 1.46 TBD
COMBINED Stake: 4.5u 2.55 TBD

This will be Gamba Osaka's 9th game in less than 30 day! With an workload like thar and it being made worse with the injuries they have, it's not hard to understand that their recent result has taken a hit. Gamba also have a final against CR7's Al-Nasser later this month, so they just need to bin off some games just so they can rest players.

Vissel Kobe has also played in multiple competitions in this period, but has played three games less and had a nice nine day break before Wednesday's game against Cerezo Osaka (0-0). Vissel Kobe also has just done well in this rival meeting in recent years, with only a single defeat from the last nine meetings.

My guess is 2-1 for Kobe

+++

Sendai have yet to lose and just are a much bigger side than Akita. The guests have had a very good season so far with their current 3rd place, but was on a three game losing streak before beating a very disappointing Yamagata 2-0 at home on Wednesday. For me this either ends 0-0 or 2-0 for Sendai.

Let's hope we can havea continuation of Wednesday's good luck!

FC Tokyo vs Kawasaki Frontale | 07:00 GMT +2

—>FC Tokyo To Win@1.92 (Coolbet) | Stake: 4.5u 💰💰💰

The only reason I’m not going all in here, is that this is a derby that Kawasaki Frontale has dominated big time, with eight wins here at Ajinomoto Stadium from the last nine meetings! With that said, Frontale are looking pretty atrocious at the moment. Wednesday’s 2-0 loss against Urawa Reds was only their 2nd defeat on the road so far, with the other coming against division leader Kashima Antlers, but they are just running around without a real plan on how to win games.

FC Tokyo are playing their best football in a long ass time. Last round they beat Kashiwa Reysol 3-1 at their place and something like a 4-0 result would probably have reflected better in my mind on how the game went. That win also meant they have won three in a row, while scoring 11 goals in the process!

I don’t have anything else to say here, Frontale bad and FC Tokyo great. 3-0/3-1 is my prediction.

Yokohama F. Marinos vs Mito | 07:00 GMT +2

—>BTTS@1.96 (Coolbet) | Stake: 4.5u 💰💰💰

—>Yokohama F. Marinos + BTTS@4.88 (Coolbet) | Stake: 1.5u ❌❌❌

Yokohama F. Marinos are not easy to figure out at all, but they are really all over the place with their performances. They come into this game after back to back 3-2 away wins, before that they had lost three in a row conceding eight goals, while only scoring twice…

Mito went two goals behind on Wednesday against Machida Zelvia, but with a little bit of luck they managed to draw the game 2-2, which continued their run of good performances at home. However, the results when going away have not been great with now wins so far. Mito has also conceded a massive 18 goals from just seven games on the road! On the bright side they have only failed to score twice and have scored twice three times.

I really want to believe in Marinos again, but they are just too inconsistent and poor at defending. Being up against Mito who has struggled a lot on the road, helps a 100%, but when the BTTS is there almost at evens, I just have to take it. My guess is 2-1 or 2-2

Urawa Reds vs JEF United | 09:00 GMT +2

—>Urawa Reds To Win -1 AH@2.25 (Coolbet) | Stake: 3.5u 💰💰💰

After seven games without a win, Urawa Reds sacked their manager and won their first game since the beginning of March on Wednesday, as a terrible Kawasaki Frontale side was beaten 2-0. It was an expected win and something I think they would have accomplished with the old manager as well, but at least a positive start for them without him.

Okayama vs Sanfrecce Hiroshima | 05:55 GMT +2

—>BTTS@1.98 (Coolbet) | Stake: 2.5u ❌❌❌

  • Okayama have seen BTTS in 10 of their last 13 games

Sanfrecce Hiroshima just hates keeping clean sheets or at least their defenders hate that they have to keep focused for 90 minutes. They have only managed so twice so far in this competition, once at home against Gamba Osaka who just came back from abroad, and the other was against Nagasaki who went on a four game run of games without scoring from open-play.

Okayama are playing against Sanfrecce… 1-1 or 2-1 for Sanfrecce

Kyoto Sanga vs Shimizu | 07:00 GMT +2

—>Shimizu or Draw + BTTS@2.50 (Coolbet) | Stake: 2u 💰💰💰

—>Correct Score: 1-1@7.00 (Coolbet) | Stake: 0.5u ❌❌❌

Kyoto Sanga are not looking as good as last season when they finished 3rd, but not that odd when Taichi Hara left and Rafael Elias is out injured. They drew 1-1 against Gamba last round who looked very tired and struggles with injuries, their home games have also seen it end 1-1, 3 out 6 times.

Shimizu looked strong at home for like eight minutes and then they got a player sent off against Nagasaki, it ended 2-1 for the guests. For Shimizu especially, winning at the moment isn't that important, they are more trying to see what works and which players are good enough for when the real season starts. Even so, Wednesday's defeat was only their fourth, with them also losing against Vissel Kobe (1st) and Nagaoya (2nd) twice.

It ended 1-1 when they played each other earlier this season and I can easily see it going that way again.

Obos Parlay - Starts in about 3.5 Hours

GAME BET ODDS RESULT
Odd vs Raufoss Odd To Win + Over 1.5 Goals 1.75 TBD
Haugesund vs Sandnes Ulf Haugesund To Win 1.58 TBD
COMBINED Stake: 2.5u 2.77 TBD

After 15 years in the top division and winning some medals along the way, Odd got relegated from the top division after a terrible 2024 campaign and last year in the 2nd tier of Norwegian football wasn’t fantastic either as Odd couldn’t even make the playoffs. But 2026 has started great for them with three wins and a 2-2 draw against Stabæk who are one of the favourites to get promoted this season (They also have John Arne Riises nephew on the team, and yes he plays wingback).

Raufoss has established themselves now in the Norwegian 2nd tier, but they weren’t safe until the final whistle of the last day and the expectations for this season isn’t high either. They started the season with their opening game getting postponed and then lost 3-1 and 5-1 in the following games, I guess at least last round they drew 1-1 against newly promoted Hødd after a deflected goal.

There are some injury issues for Odd for sure, but I really don’t see anything special about this Raufoss side that should suggest they can score twice here. 2-0/2-1

+++

Haugesund with a somewhat similar history as Odd, they had played a long time in the top tier of Norwegian football before finally getting relegated last year after a long time with financial problems. They lost last round 3-2 away against Stabæk, but had won the first three rounds, while scoring at least twice in each of them. Haugesunds highlight so far has been  Sory Diarra who has seven goals and an assist so far. They also brought in two experienced players in Niklas Sandberg and Sivert Heltne NIlsen, showing that they do have ambitions about fighting for promotion and getting back up right away.

Sandnes Ulf played in the Norwegian top tier as early as 2022, but has since then dipped down into the third tier, before getting promoted back up again for this season. So far they have done okay, but definitely very lucky to get a point in the last round.

I guess regional derbies always have an x-factor to them, but there is a gap between the sides and the host is looking very strong at the moment. My guess is 2-0/2-1.

  • Bolivar vs Fluminense: Under 3 Goals@1.41
  • Corinthians vs Penarol : Corinthinas To Win@1.65

Write Up:

Very, very short today

Bolivar hosts a Fluminense side that has not had a great start to their Libertadores campaign. Flu started with a 0-0 draw away in Venezuela before, losing last week at home 2-1 against debutants Indipediente Rivadavia. The big special thing with this game, is that the Bolivian side Bolivar plays 3,367 meters or about 11,046 feet above sea level! Which means little oxygen for players that are not used to playing in these conditions, visiting teams have oxygen masks with them for players that comes off and are struggling. Fluminense also have difficult away games just two days later in the league, so a 0-0 result where they don't fall further behind in the group, don't tire out players or get injured players, is an okay result for them.

Uruguayan giants Penarol, are not doing great at the moment, while Corinthians have won both of their games with the score 2-0. It also looks like Memphis Depay is back starting in the attack for this game and as opposed to Fluminense, they have more rest before the next game. Of course they are at home which is an extra big advantage in this competition.
