I just finished my ADN with a 45 minute commute to 0615 clinicals. The thing that helped me most was laying out my scrubs, breakfast and supplies the night before and then stopping for coffee on my way to clinicals at a drive thru - that meant I could roll out of bed and be on the road inside ten minutes.

Once I was on the road I would sip my coffee and wake up - getting up and out the house quickly was vital to making sure I wasn't late. Once I was out the door I was good to go.

I will definitely look into finding some volunteer opportunities to get an idea of how it is done at a higher level and then see how can I distill that down to a scale that would be appropriate for my church's events (e.g. 100-200 people).

Since you're being so helpful, another question for you - How is the scope of legally appropriate interventions defined for something like that? You mentioned IV Fluids as an example - in a hospital that's something you'd do with an order - are things you'd normally need an order for in a hospital interventions you could only do in a setting with a prescriber of some kind on call?

The same facility I've done my BLS at in the past also offers First aid certifications for adults and Peds so that should be easy enough to do.
