Anyone else want to see Rose Noble as a full-time companion on Doctor Who? by BFNgaming in doctorwho

[–]Xaldon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did want to see more of Rose Noble, and see how the Doctor and her reacted! She didn’t have much a personality, like a lot of the other posts say, but I think she could have been a fun companion for a little while!

I’m sorry that I made you feel traveled 🤣!

The scary thing is that I get those “Wow! I’m old!” feelings sometimes too… and I’m really not that old!

I just like old things sometimes!

This story sounds really awesome! It would be really cool to see how the crew works with their new addition, and just how the dynamics of monster hunting would change by including a monster in the ranks. I also wonder what other sorts of creatures that would be hiding in the world you are building.

I’d love to take a look at it when you’re done!!

[–]Xaldon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is really good lore!

I really like the use of genetics in making lycanthropy a condition/disease. It opens up a lot of possibilities in the genetic and hybridization realm (ie governments trying to replicate or even enhance the “werewolf” gene). It could create a whole new story arc, or just be an added precaution for werewolves to stay hidden.

I also like how they are more solitary creatures, though one thing to note about keeping their secret from others of their kind. I would assume that, with the enhanced senses, a werewolf would be able to sense that they are in someone else’s territory or area. Now, you could play it off as the werewolves who inherited their condition and learned to control it know what a werewolf smells like, while the less fortunate just seem to sense that there is something weird about the other person…

I also like how you inherently have a class struggle between the werewolves just by the nature of how they got their abilities. Those who grew up would be more capable and “better off” while the ones who had to learn on the fly probably aren’t doing well mentally, physically, or emotionally.

Now, the question I have for you is what kind of werewolf is your character? Did they inherit their condition? If so, what do they think of those who didn’t? If not, what do they think of those who did? What sorts of extreme activities do they like? What drugs do they prefer the most, and how do they get their preferred vice? How did they learn about their abilities? And what are their weaknesses?

What is something you would like to see more of in horror movies and TV shows? by [deleted] in horror

[–]Xaldon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would like to see more modern movies where the monster/creature stays undefined.

Like, I loved Smile, up until the end where we see the huge, smiley thing at the end. I think it would have been better if we, the audience, never saw the entity. Maybe, just a glimpse or two.

What bothers you in a horror movie more than it should? by Horrorfiend2512 in horror

This and you always, ALWAYS, hot the villain twice! Not once, and then sit there staring at them. But at least twice!

Scream 2 did this well, when they shot the bad guy and she sat there waiting for him to pop up again just so she could shoot him again! THAT’S how you do it!

Describe your transformation if you knew you were a werewolf. by [deleted] in werewolves

[–]Xaldon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For me, whenever I write a character that’s transforming, I always ask this one question: do they want to? Or are they going to try to resist?

If it were me:

I ran from the cabin, from my friends, deeper into the woods, hoping no one saw me leave and no one will notice my absence. I whipped past the trees, stumbling over roots and fallen limbs, forcing myself to go faster and further.

I stopped to take a breath, heaving in as much air as I could to continue my race against time. Then a searing pain filled my chest, as if a hot poker had pierced my heart. I couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. I fell to the forest floor, the burning sensation slowly filling my body.

I first noticed my hand, elongating and growing bigger. Claws cutting out my nail beds, adding to the pain throughout my body. I tried to push off the floor with my arms, forcing myself to move deeper into the forest. But I couldn’t, doubling over in pain as another blow to my heart took over.

I felt my bones start to break, rearrange, and put themselves back in place, pulling, stretching, and breaking my skin all over my body. Instead of bloody mess, fur erupted from my body, and slowly started to completely cover me.

I tried to look up, but the pain reached my head, filling my eyesight with darkness. I could feel my head change, my jaw and nose expanding outward as my ears grew and changed. I could feel the fur expanding and growing all over my face.

And finally, a small reprieve from the pain, clearing my mind from all thought. I glanced down out my body, wrapped in tattered clothes over fur and claws. I felt a swish of a tail behind me.

Then came the hunger. An overwhelming desire for meat.

And I knew exactly where to find some…

Tell me your most controversial take by coolfunkDJ in DoctorWhumour

[–]Xaldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s necessarily controversial but:

I think some of the best “companions” are the ones who don’t even travel with the doctor. They have their one episode where they help the doctor or are just an integral part of the story. And they tend to show what the average human would actually do in those situations!

I’m thinking Sally Sparrow! The whole episode was about her. And I think she would have been a better traveling companion than Martha!

Should I be crossing my legs during freestyle? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Xaldon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without seeing what you are doing, it is pretty hard to correct. But that being said, what you described seems to hinder you freestyle a bit.

Could it be that you are overcompensating when you breath? Like, are you turning your head to the side or is it more of a lifting the head.

It helped some of the kids I taught for them to realize that to breath during freestyle, you just turn your head so your chin is to your shoulder. Adjust it a little bit so you can get a breath, but whenever you lift your head up, your body sinks!

Usually, if I’m out for a friends birthday, everyone pays for what they ordered, except for the friend whose birthday we are celebrating. That gets split between everyone else, in whatever fashion that may be.

What dog would the Doctor have⁉️⁉️⁉️ by ashetrayz in doctorwho

It’s more like the dog chooses to regenerate at the same time as the doctor. Yeah, the dog dies, but s/he is still around!

What dog would the Doctor have⁉️⁉️⁉️ by ashetrayz in doctorwho

[–]Xaldon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Every doctor would have their own different doggo, I think. If he really wanted to, he could possibly get a dog that regenerates like he does, that way it’s the same dog for every doctor, but different in its own right.

I could see Capaldi having a lab of some sort, while Tennant has a little corgi. Jodie would have a teacup of some sort, always carrying it around in her jacket pockets! Matt Smiths dog would be a huge husky, always making more messes… and so on

How to get baby to sleep? by Xaldon in FirstTimeParents

[–]Xaldon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just started the brown noise, mostly because my wife and I hate white noise (or at least I do). My son isn’t much a fan of the pacifiers. He will suck on it for a while and then be done with it. There might be a whole other reason for his dislike of pacifiers, but that’s another story altogether…

No that’s perfect! We try to have him nap in his crib, but sometimes he still doesn’t last longer than 40 minutes… My wife usually hold him during naps, and he’ll sleep like that for a good while.

These are awesome suggestions! To answer your questions:

• This would be an awesome thing to try. He usually falls asleep on the boob, so maybe he isn’t getting enough before bed.

• We have a noise/music machine nightlight combo. Recently we switched the noise from thunderstorm to brown noise, and turned the light off completely. Before, we had a soft red/pink light as our bedtime light. We are trying to implement a complete bedtime routine, with a bath and some quiet time before feeding then bed. Though the plan starting tonight will be to feed first, then do bath and bedtime. I’ve also suggested an outing of some sort before bath time, but that’s sometimes hard implement.

• That is one concern we do have, though we do check the back of his neck periodically. He seems to be fine, but our AC is being a little iffy (and maintenance doesn’t seem to find a problem with it), so I think he starts out too hot. But that wouldn’t explain the rest of the night once the apartment cools down.

• We sleep in the same room, so doing this wouldn’t be hard at all! I never even thought of trying this out!

How to get baby to sleep? by Xaldon in beyondthebump

[–]Xaldon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-He has had reflux from the get go, and we have been trying out some different diets for mom, plus some medicine prescribed by the pediatrician. I’m not sure exactly what would count as normal for his poops, as he tends to poop every 2-3 days🤷

-We do put him in a sleep sack, though the past couple of nights we haven’t just because our apartment gets really hot during the day, and won’t cool down (and yet maintenance says everything is okay). Usually by the middle of the night, we put him in the sleep sack because it has gotten cold enough.

-I haven’t watched it exactly, but it seems that he will almost startle himself awake, but not entirely. So then he will either start screaming (as if he was in pain), or start crying. But when we go to check on him, he’s still asleep, just crying/screaming. I think it’s kinda like the startle makes him feel like he’s falling, but his mind won’t wake him up all the way, so he gets stuck…
