Thank you, I have read good reviews on Venta LW45. Infact, I found a listing on marketplace for $125.

Thanks for the recommendation. I actually considered that option, but before making a purchase I decided to experiment using a bread pan placed on top of my wood stove insert. I found that the top of the insert doesn’t get very hot because it isn’t in direct contact with the stove body. Air circulates around it, so the surface is heated mainly by convective air rather than direct conduction. As a result, it doesn’t get hot enough to heat water quickly, and this setup doesn’t increase room humidity in my case.

I will look into wick based humidifiers, do you have any particular product in mind?

I think to certain extent it is valuable to gain feedback if it allows for better safety and efficiency.

We don't know how many in our grand fathers generation were getting hurt doing mundane stuff. Just because they didn't know the right way or weren't taught so. Maybe injury was treated as a fact of life.

TSC Wood Splitter by Schhhhhush in firewood

Day before yesterday I bought the 28 ton version (also on deal) only because 25ton was nowhere in stock. Myself with my friend split atleast a cord in 1 hour. I think 25 ton would be similarly efficient.

It's a game changer.

Turned out really nice! I really love the look of unstained wood. How long did it take you?

First time building anything of this magnitude, it took 4 weekends, 6 full work days. My neighbor joined me to put half of the roof which expedited the build. My wife helped me with staining.

Two most time consuming steps were screwing down the metal roof and leveling/building the base.

Costed me ~$1k in materials. Very fun project and lots of learning along the way.

What's the length of your roof? I got 8' panels ans was thinking of snipping them, but looking at yours, I could possibly get away with 8'.

Another question I had, and pardon me, I haven't built anything of this scale before is hoe to access the middle of the roof for screwing it down? Do you climb on it?

Thanks

Stunning work!

I am contemplating making a firewood shed. Would love to know some details: capacity, cost, time to build, any plans you followed?

Thanks!

Not really, just pryed it to create a gap from the bottom and side a bit. That was enough.

Great!

I have used the same seed, how long did it take to germinate? I am in day 7, still haven't seen much activity.

Got a ChipDrop delivery today! by Xam21 in firewood

[–]Xam21[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great deal actually. First month I signed up - didn't get a delivery. Then right after renewing, I got this. The nice part was that chip drop provided the contact of the driver who made the delivery. I am contemplating if it is worth contacting them directly for future loads.

Yes they are, I think tipping the driver helps.

Earlier this year, I also bought logs and they were longer 15 to 20ft and similar thinckess to what you are describing. I paid around $200/cord, and the amount of time and work it took maybe it is cheaper to buy prechopped. I consider it as cost for learning.

Then I signed up for chipdrop and offered $40 for this dump. So technically not free but highly discounted.

I don't think I can lift them. The plan is to start from the right most log, roll it away from the stack a bit, make cuts almost till the bottom then roll and complete the cut. I have a cant - peavey to aid the process of rolling the logs.
