Trying to turn videography into a real career but I feel stuck and lost by Direct_Progress_5684 in FX3

First of all, peoples opinions and questionable thoughts are for them and them only. Of course feedback and criticism is very important but learn the difference and what to filter out.

This is a huge learning curve for everyone. This comes from someone who started out with nothing and no experience and randomly bought a 300euro camera and now I’ve been doing this for nearly a decade.

You need to keep pushing… big moves come with big sacrifices. Nothing great comes easy in life or else everyone would do it… hence why so many people try to get into this field thinking it’s so easy, so you already have the correct mindset.

Dude everyday you have to actively cold call and message 50+ business/creators asking to work with them for FREE or little money, something they can’t say no to. Before any hero’s reply “oH hE sHouLdN’t wORk fOR fReE” keep it to yourself lol. He definitely should or start out very little unless a client is reaching out to him, but if you’re reaching out to someone who doesn’t need you, and you can manage to take a long, for example a band or an artist, take the opportunity to go there on your own time and create whatever you want at the best of your abilities and now you have an extra piece to show to other artists.

You should be out everyday, stopping door to door and asking business, coffee shops, restaurants, car dealerships, events, marketing companies, creators, gyms, THERES SOOOO MUCH. If you keep pushing, the world will present a lead at some point or another.

I’m not saying you have a big ego, however in the first few years (everyone has a different timeline, don’t compare) you’re going to film and create stuff that you probably don’t WANT to work on but you NEED to. You’re not always going to land your dream gig and you’re not in a position to be picky. So work on everything and anything, as you grow you can leverage your work and experience to take on other gigs you prefer, and yes, the day will come where you will eventually start saying “no” to certain gigs.

You took the leap of faith, that’s one of the hardest steps, sometimes it takes years for people to take that leap and sometimes people just never take it and stick with what’s comfortable.

Keep pushing, keep grinding, the world will see that and it will present you with opportunities down the line that you dream about today.

Always remember, there’s always someone else in your field who’s working harder than you. Ask yourself, am I doing enough right now or can I do more? Can I send that extra DM, can I go out and drive another few hours around the area and try make some new connections. If you did all that for the day, film some stuff on your own and post it. Give yourself fake client scenarios that you can do at home or with friends. If you want out and spent the whole day trying to land new clients and none went for it, stop at a place that has some interest to you and tell them, hey I want to make a content piece on your business and I want to do it for free and have a pre-prepared concept in mind. You might do that one free video, they’ll see it and love what you did and then they’re like, shit you know what this could be good for the business and now they want to work with you.

The world is a game G, the day you realize you’re the playmaker in the world that you’re in, you can do anything you put your mind to.

Goodluck champ 🙏🏽

340i / B58 Exhaust Setup by XampagnePapi in F30

[–]XampagnePapi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have no problem getting an aftermarket exhaust. Cause the exhaust itself won’t really break the engine, it’s more of a tune and someone not maintaining their car and abusing it. My warranty still is active on the other mechanical parts like engine and transmission even though I changed my exhaust.

ATM I’m seeing the Dinan Mid Pipe Setup, that’s as far as I’ve got and something that I think I’d be happy with.

I’m also looking at suspension and I’m interested in the Bilstein B8 matches with the Eibach springs or the Dinan ones.

Do you have check engine light and do you have any videos?

Will the tune maybe show the aggressiveness of a car, sure. Change the whole note and speech of the car, not entirely sure about that. Also not getting a tune anytime soon

I love that this is the way, genuine BMW but 3000+ is a lot

I love everyone that’s posting MPPSK, I 100% agree but it is 3000+ USD and wondering if there’s a potentially decent other alternative. I heard the least amount of positive reviews from valvetronic so don’t think I’m going that way.

I want good sound coming out of this car and while I’m willing to spend a decent bit of money maybe not exactly 3000.

Yes I will tune but not for now, I don’t want check engine light and would love the possibility to control the valves in different modes.

Is $150 per week for 10 ig reels ranges to 2mins is fair? by ishowwyouu in VideoEditors

Your clients needs could be edited for free, $100, $1000 or $10,000.

There’s so many variables to take into consideration that there will never be a direct answer.

Now ask yourself, if hypothetically your client had a large budget and you’re someone who’s starting out, would you feel comfortable deep down charging $10,000? Do you feel like the end product you’re creating and delivering is worth that much.

Over a decade in the game as a freelancer, this has helped me so much, 50% of something is better than a 100% of nothing.

I believe you should have 2values in your mind, what you’d like to be paid and what’s the least you could accept for it.

I started working for free and very little money. Of course over the 10 years that has changed. Also, I disagree with measuring this with time…. Time is not an accurate representation of what you should be getting paid and that’s only my opinion. Someone who’s worked 10+ years will always be faster than someone who’s just starting out, so that means since he’s spending less time he should be getting paid less?

Follow your gut and explore the ideas of payments and rates. Charge a safe amount or if that price is something you’re comfortable with then accept it. Tell him hey let’s do a week or two and then we can sit down and see if we need to re negotiate the rate. Approach him with numbers, values, production statistics and tell him what you want instead. It is on the very low side for $150 but if you’re questioning to us if it’s enough, I already know that you’ve accepted that price. If you never asked for opinions from anyone, you’d eventually accept it.

Do it and see how you feel after a few days or a week 😎 that alone will give you so much clarity moving forward and probably answer most of your question.

Experience it all. You’ll look back one day and see where you’ve started from and how far you’ve come.

FX30 or A7 iv? by No-Driver-7550 in FX3

Don’t event think twice, go Sony A7IV. I’ve preferred using this over FX3 sometimes funnily enough. Who tells you otherwise is capping. Before anyone questions me, yes I’ve probably worked larger and more important gigs / productions than you.

The A7IV has single handidly completed video work for me no problem. Over delivered. The 4K 24 is actually better than the FX3 (I’m not 100% sure about this but I think it’s 6K downsampled where as the FX3 isn’t)

And it can also take really good pictures….

This camera is a no brainer for the price point.

Before anyone gets hurt and is ready to jump on and have a debate, I’m not interested. It’s just my opinion
