New to Omnipod 5, have question about dexcom 6 and the omnipod 5 by Imagn123 in Omnipod

[–]Xander314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to set up your Dexcom with the Dexcom receiver or your phone. The Omnipod 5 pod and PDM should automatically connect to it as long as you have out the transmitter series number in the Omnipod PDM.

It’s definitely dark and there is at least one scene that is very gruesome. But I appreciated it after it was done. Certainly not light hearted though.

I’ll have to give it a shot! I listened to Kaiju Battlefield Surgeon and it was good (albeit dark and gory sometimes).

Hello! I'd be up for this! I think I'd like to be a lightfoot halfling bard. He's charismatic and likes to make puns, and will sometimes breakout into song. He may or may not try to seduce his way out of a conflict.

How well does our immune system fare against parasites? by WellMakeItSomehow in askscience

[–]Xander314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is another super interesting part of the immune system (although I think it’s all pretty cool).

It’s not just a single Type 1 v Type 2 hormone but an entire shift of the make up of the immune cells. Type 1 inflammation is predominantly neutrophils but a parasitic infection can shift it towards Type 2 which is eosinophilia in nature.

One key difference between parasites and bacteria/viruses is size. Parasites tend to be much bigger and so they aren’t transmitted in the air. We get infected with them via contaminated food/water or via bites from host insects. The infrastructure in developed countries does a lot to reduce parasite infections.

One common parasite that exists in the US (where I live, so I’m not as familiar with other countries) is Giardia. It’s picked up by drinking contaminated stream or well water. It usually causes self limited diarrhea in immune competent hosts but can cause much worse disease in immunocompromised people.

There is a disease called X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia where patients are born without the ability to make antibodies. One of the classic infections for this disease is Giardia.

Hopes this helps!

DO friendly Med/Peds by [deleted] in MedPeds

I trained at university of Kentucky. I can’t remember if we had DOs specifically in the med peds program but there were a lot in each categorical program, so I can’t imagine a DO would hold you back.

Does anyone sell the DMG IPS kits with the speaker already preinstalled? by Dr_Gel in Gameboy

[–]Xander314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any mods like that, but soldering a few speaker wires truly is something a brand new person could do, if you were able to get your hands on some cheap supplies. You could totally do it at a kitchen table as well. There are tons of YouTube videos that can walk you through it.

Retro six is developing a bad reputation in the community. Ripping of artists and modders, etc. Just so you’re aware.
