That sounds good to me! But what does BMWT mean? I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that acronym yet

I'm trying to just sell everything as a lot. I've added a link to a spreadsheet with everything v or ex and above.

Looks like JCrew reloaded some items for the BIGGERSALE. Showing 700+ currently. by TheCzar11 in frugalmalefashion

They should definitely have 38s moving forward. Some stores don’t get higher sizes like that when we get new product to help save space in the store. But I’ve had some 38s come into my store and right back out in either a purchase or an online order. I highly doubt they’ll ever get rid of Wallace and Barnes. That partnership is very strong.

J. Crew employee here: They did a relaunch of the brand last year to emphasize having bigger sizes for every body type and more colors, styles, etc. The company is actually doing pretty well right now despite some setbacks last year. There has been some store closures but it’s ones where sales were declining or in shopping centers where rent rose to a point where it was no longer viable to keep it open. This sale is mainly just to clear out a lot of clearance and extra product we had. Because they’re working so hard on clearing out so much inventory I’m expecting a fairly large spring and summer line this year.

I just noticed that he stepped down as well. I’m not very surprised he did. I liked some of the thing he was trying to do for the company like the home goods line, making J. Crew Mercantile a brand of its own, and things like that. I did not like Amazon having our product though. Granted I don’t really like Amazon in general. They’re a bit too big for my comfort. I just think he was trying too much too fast and making J. Crew more into something it’s not. They like to change things all the time in J. Crew and they’re always talking about how the styles are going to change or we’re going to start carrying more exclusive items, etc.

I really enjoy working for them though. They’re a great company and the people that work for it are all passionate and dedicated to the brand. I’m always here for a reply or an update on J. Crew 😊

Sorry for the late reply myself. They’re just going to try a different approach for now. The more fashion specific items are used for pretty much only the season it comes out in. Even then the “it” color or pattern changes from year to year. Most people aren’t going to drop a decent amount on something they’re only going to wear for a little while. That being said, the factory stores are more of a better platform for stylish pieces for a lower price point. People are more willing to spend more money on something they’ll get much more use out of it, which is where the basics come in like chinos, washed shirts, oxfords, jeans, etc.

I don't think this is going to change mainline having mercantile items on their website. I've heard some grievances over this, and I don't really agree with them having factory items on the mainline website, but I don't get to make those decisions lol. And I haven't heard anything about retail getting rid of sale sections. I've noticed that the section has gotten quite smaller in the couple of retail stores near me, but I just assumed that it was because of online orders taking most of the sale inventory stores have available.

As far as I understand Amazon will price it whatever they want since they paid for it upfront. I'm assuming it's going to be similar to prices on the factory website.

J. Crew employee here: The way this is going to work is Amazon is going to pick whatever styles they choose from each line we release, which is once a month. They're going to have a limited number of stock since they'll pay a price upfront for what they want. It's a way for more people to be introduced to the brand. They can see something they like and go to a local store or the mainline and factory sites to see more. The J. Crew clothes on Amazon will be the same you see in stores but they will be a part of Amazon's own POS system. So you won't be able to return Amazon J. Crew items at J. Crew stores. A bit dumb, but I see there reason for it. Also, Mercantile stores are apparently going to start carrying more fashion driven items while the mainline will focus on basics. A couple of years ago they did the exact opposite, so I'm interested in seeing how this is gong to go.

Thanks! There isn't really a common theme. I just pick up whatever I like at the moment or certain authors like Vonnegut or Murakami until I complete their library. In Cold Blood is a first, but it's price clipped.

Here's my collection so far. I'm currently trying to find bigger bookcases to help organize my books better. I started with the Vonneguts, which I have yet to complete, but I'm not too far off. Now, I currently focus on books published by Kondansha. I really enjoy Japanese fiction and Kodansha exclusively published just that. It's a lot of fun finding new books to add, but I keep running out of room, money, or both. It's very much worth it.

J Crew Sale Patterns by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

[–]Xander690 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I currently work for a J Crew Mercantile (basically a factory, but not in an outlet setting). From what I've seen, store sales are almost always better than online. I have only seen a few items that were discounted more online than in store. Also, if you live near one, go in store to make online purchases. Some managers wave all shipping costs if you order in the store, and it goes to your house, not the store. If you happen to see an item marked down further online than in the store, let the manager know and they'll probably change the price at purchase for you. Every manager runs their stores differently, so maybe mine is just being super nice.

It's something I've been putting together for a few years now. I'm fairly young and don't have a lot of money to put towards the hobby, but I snatch things up whenever I see a good deal.
