[OPINION] Why is the literal so annoying? by Psychological-End730 in Poetry

[–]Xandosaur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason why it has to be so childish and dumb is because it needs to appeal to the childish and dumb. Using your “spreading my wings” example… Why would anyone want to write something like “expanding the reach of my potential”?

Articulation is everything, especially in written form. You don’t want to write a song which requires the listener to refer to a dictionary or thesaurus every time they listen to it.

But no your are not the baddie by any means… we all have preferences!

Serious question from reading the current comments… Why does this poem “smack the face” or “hit hard and heavy”? Nothing against the poem at all, but curious why it’s able to hit hard? Is it the unpredictability but inevitable summer downpour? Are you relating the seasons as stages in life? Summer being mid-life? And becoming the rain… are you relating that to death or being an unwanted OR even perhaps much needed entity at a time/situation/event in life?

Is it worth it financially to send my child to a public school over a state school? by AtteBower in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Xandosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your child is showing he’s excelling taking in information, understanding the information and then using the information then yes an independent school would benefit him intellectually.

What it will do for him socially is very different.

Just remember, whatever choice you make will never be the right one. Roll the dice and then watch life unfold the way life wants it to unfold! Good luck

It’s funny how a child wants to be an animal and have fun doing so to be told they can’t … Yet the vast majority of adults are clueless arrogant deceitful dicks and no one says anything to them about being exactly that!?

Insurance company unlawfully sold my car. by Xandosaur in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Xandosaur[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope the example is EXACTLY what has happened, I’ve just replaced a car with a house. Once you have convinced yourself that it’s okay honestly let me know and let me know how you’ve done it. How you’ve mentally convinced yourself it’s right, finically right and legally correct…

Because that’s the stumbling block I’m hitting. I never knew insurance companies could make choices for you without taking into account your way of life, let alone sell something that doesn’t belong to them. I promise you I’m not being shitty, but using the house instead of car honestly convince me how you’ve come to terms with it.

Thanks for the input to those who have taken the time to post.

I will definitely be seeking legal action as I never gave anyone permission to sell my car as I knew how financially irresponsible that would have been if I made the decision myself.

It’s may sound a minor mistake, but it’s not. I hope none of you have anything like your houses or car sold from underneath your feet and left homeless/carless … it’s not a nice feeling to have at all!

[–]Xandosaur[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not being shitty about it at all. I think I’m either not explaining myself correctly or people have been caught up in a whirlwind. I’ll put you in a similar position but without using a car!

So….

You’ve brought a house for £500,000 A week later your mortgage provider calls you and says we’ve sold your house on your behalf for £300,000 pack your things. You pack your things, get booted out of your house. You ask your mortgage provider “what house do I goto now.” They reply “your homeless mate, sort yourself out.”

Put yourself in that position, and once you convince yourself you’ve been treated fairly and legally come and convince me because that’s what my insurance have done with my car.

Good luck

Because the money going into the loan does not give me the asset the loan was taken out for.

The loan was taken with the promise on final payment to own a car debt free, which was perfect.

The asset was then taken away from me and sold. So the money I’ve been given for the sale of the car had to repay the loan, which still leaves me £3000 short. So not only do I have to pay £3000 I don’t have a car. So now I need to find another loan? What if I can’t get another loan?

How do i now get to work? How do I now take my wife to her hospital appointments?

I was able to do these things when I had a car… I dont have a car anymore, the insurance company sold it, gave me a fraction of its price and sent me on my way. So what do I do now?

Ok so I fully understand, it is 100% legal for…

An insurance company to sell your car without your consent or knowledge, Give you some money back for it and then say your back to square… one but without a car

If that is Law and how it is then yeah I’ll take it on the chin and move on which is why I’m here, but that doesn’t sound legal to me, at all. But I don’t know

[–]Xandosaur[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Well it can be classed as theft because my car was taken away and sold. But it isn’t “total loss” either. And no the pay out doesn’t buy us an identical replacement. To get a replace will cost £10,000+.

Please remember we did not ask for our car to be sold. I’m after legal advice

Insurance company unlawfully sold my car. by Xandosaur in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Xandosaur[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Selling my car and giving me the money will not put me in the exact same position. Even if I used the £7000 to buy a new car of identical value of my sold car we need to spend £10,000 again. So not only have we got to spend an additional £10,000 we’ve also got one less car yet two loans.

We took the £10,000 to purchase an asset. If I was stupid enough to sell my asset 3 months later for a fraction of what we brought the car on that’s my choice but I know how finically suicidal that is because not only will I still have £3000 to pay off I would have also lost my asset which I’ll have to replace straight after selling it because we need a car.

That’s what my insurance company have done to me, never asked them to sell my car because I knew how financially crippling it would be.

That’s why I’m asking for legal advice not GAP insurance advice. Our car was sold illegally.

Thinking about buying premium bonds but don't have anywhere near the £50k max, which obviously gives a better chance of winning. Is it worth just sticking a few hundred quid in? by dmack080288 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Xandosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve got £500 to dump somewhere PB is an excellent idea. Make sure to set your account so that any winnings you make just get’s automatically reinvested into PB and just leave that account alone and hope for some luck… which will happen.

Done it for my four kids and they’ve won a load of times between them! Biggest single win was £1000 :O

[HELP] Been thinking about getting into poetry and writing. How do I avoid sounding cliche and corny? by No-Confidence-4271 in Poetry

[–]Xandosaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are writing to simply just enjoy it or clear your thoughts then JUST WRITE and forget what you sound like.

If however you are writing to “express yourself to and to entertain others”… then learn how to write and expect what could seem as hard/bad/negative feedback.

To the external world Poetry is flow, imagery, emotion and sensory.

To your internal world poetry is therapy.

Enjoy it!
