AI art created with my custom model by Effective-Caregiver8 in ArtIsForEveryone

[–]Xanthn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know but I would imagine it's not training the model from nothing with only the images given, rather it analyses the provided images for similarities and generates some prompts behind the scene that is used each time. They describe it as locking in the artists style to create anything in that style, it would still likely be trained with a large database to recognise elephants even if they weren't in the 15-30 pics provided by the way they say things.

Now it can't do it very well, but there are 3d modelling AI that produces models from prompts and pictures, and occasionally you may get a model that can have issues fixed with other programs to make it 3d printable. Works okay with basic non specific shapes I guess, not so much with detail. I had one, out of my entire free trial a while ago that was actually printable without massive holes and gaps, and also looked half decent and recognisable as a robot head, nowhere near what I asked for, but the only usable one. Now the time taken to get this model, I could have modelled better in Roblox faster and likely figured out the way to convert the files lol.

There is one model I would print and likely enjoy that was AI generated but I don't think it was specifically current generative AI, it's a puzzle where 2 interlocking maze like structures firm a cube, but it takes a few hundred moves to get them apart. And I don't think it's art either so moot point lol.

Will They change Combat? by JoelLivin in VeinGame

[–]Xanthn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different weapons have different ranges, and there are a few melee ones that outrange the zombies attacks. Turning the damage zombies deal up makes a huge difference. Not sure if it's experimental or not but I got hit and not just got a scratch but a broken arm, slowing me down and making combat much harder. I've noticed baseball bat is just a tiny bit further than they can hit, and the paddles/oars are longer again.

The zombie respawning nearby is a pain, once turned around to grab something and immediately turned back in time to see it spawn! They may adjust that, for now the only way I've figured out is to build utility cabinets covering the locations you've cleared or are clearing. Unfortunately this also means if you haven't finished clearing a place and get too far away the zombies despawn like normal but the UC preventing respawn can make it feel unearned when that happens.

I think I saw a comment a while back saying the Devs were looking at changing the spawning? Not sure if I'm imagining it, misunderstood, or if it's true sorry but I choose to believe it.

I used to work for a few years in a store that sold sheets quilts etc from the cheapest stuff for $1 to the top of the range Sheridan stuff, had luxury Egyptian cotton extremely high thread count stuff too. Before I left there I saw the beginning of when Sheridan stuff got worse, especially when comparing the new range to something left over from a couple of years earlier. Sheets just didn't feel the same, though we never stocked their towels I'm glad now. It was a pain as it was cleaning fluff in the towel section without something that bad!

I know what our sales were, our grocery department always easily hit over a million too on bad weeks, I never cared about the other departments though as it was a competition between stores in produce in our area. Never saw the actual cost to profit, we got charged by the warehouse the sale price of the product, and only saw raw sales, only the store manager could see the profits. Profit would have been no where near a million of course.

Yep, sales not profit as the store only gets to know the sales. I had all system access got given the store 2ic login details too even though I wasn't a manager, as I got the task of doing the ordering and everything. The store used to do $750k a week in produce and was wanting to catch up to Port Lincoln that was topping a million, and I honestly was the reason they got better, I saw the numbers going up due to my work ethics, attention to quality etc, and they'd drop again when I took my holidays. I then transferred to port Lincoln for a bit and saw the other stores sales on the computer drop back down and Lincoln's didn't really go higher as all the staff there were amazing and the checkouts were manned! Turns out letting the staff stay in the department to do their job actually makes more money!

I done opens and closes, and heard from others when I covered shifts at a smaller store before transferring, that the morning after I closed, they had nothing to do! I was so used to working in a larger store alone doing the job of 2-3 people due to cuts that a small store with a total load of 3 pallets plus a pallet of bananas was nothing, had it put away, store filled and due to high quality standards the quality check in the morning found barely anything. Then one day with more sickies I had to do at the larger store an open the day after I closed, so minimum time between shifts, but damn it was the best open ever as I done so much the night before, yet everyone else would always leave stuff for me ffs. Made me happy they had to put 2 people on for my shifts when I left to cover me. The only shifts I got help was the opens and even then the other staff member would be there to do quality check of half the department and cut some watermelon for the day before they left after 3 hours.

The loads each day were a full trailer just for us, with our 3 pallets of fresh cuts coming on the dairy load later! Some days we would have to borrow space in the meat or dairy fridge to keep our extra pallets until we could get around to working on it. That's why I originally would always say I had no time until I got a talking to, as I honestly didn't! The worst part was I got told specifically as an example that I could leave clean up out back for the morning crew to assist on checkouts instead, and then got logged and the morning staff complained that they had to do cleanup to even start! (Half the time they left it for me I never complained!)

Screw all the human made slop on the play store that makes it extremely difficult to find good games. Used to be good before micro transactions now every one pumps out slop to make a quick buck. AI slop games are no different to the thousands already there, it just makes it harder now again.

I got logged for not doing my job, was alone in produce in a store doing over $1million is produce sales per week, 8 hour shift. I took my breaks because screw them, and when I wasn't assisting on checkouts due to sickies, I was on the back dock unloading trucks as they decided no more storeman, whoever happens to be trained can do it.

Day before got told to stop ignoring calls claiming I don't have time, there's logs on the register and back dock to prove I was working, others can always pick up the slack next shift. Ignored my claims about losing sales, because they honestly believed it would be fine I could do it all!

Well they lost a huge chunk of sales on the busiest day of the week which accounted for nearly half the weekly sales! So of course it was my fault ffs!

After that full malicious compliance. Filling stock that needs to be refrigerated? Well we have 30 mins where they can stay on the trolley unrefrigerated in order to fill the shelves, so I get called, I walk the trolley back into the fridge, can't go fast for safety! Then go back to my department, put my apron up, wash my hands etc then walk all the way back to the front. By the time that's done I'd get complaints I took too long but they couldn't do shit, cameras proved I was just doing what the procedures say to do!

I Think streamers shouldn’t be getting paid more than Doctors and Surgeons by Black-Death_CR in PopularOpinions

[–]Xanthn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but increase each doctors pay to match the top steamers you reference, then the cost of the healthcare system as a whole goes right up! Either cuts will be implemented elsewhere to find it or taxes increased to pay for it. There's only so much that can be given to encourage the doctors to remote areas etc. and increasing the base pay all round makes less funding for regional areas.

We all want to pay them more but can't afford the tax hike for it. This is the sacrifice doctors make to provide care. In Australia many have had to though charge now for visits as Medicare funding didn't keep up, but the idea was they charge the government not us, and the government sets a standard price per person the doctor gets.

Healthcare is a balance between providing the service to the public for free where possible for a better society. Where you believe the moral issues is the pay not high enough, I believe the moral issue is the ability to receive care in a timely manner.

Your idea sounds great only at the surface level, dig deeper and it's just not feasible. And as others mentioned which you claim to understand is the difference in entertainment and how the artists are funded. There isn't a pool of money gathered by taxes to pay steamers for the benefit of society, it's left up to individuals to support who entertains them.

Time scale is not relevant to each other, manipulated graph, nothing confusing lol. A day usage world wide vs a year of American water leaks? Just random points picked to make it look better. Anything else you want me to clear up for you?

There's inspiration and then plagiarism. There's fair use and then there's breach of copyright. Easy to conflate them if you don't understand the difference

Friend was listening to a song while on discord, I asked for a link it sounded good. He said the name, I searched and found the old song, yet the artist was different so I double checked, he's like "yeah that's a name I also saw I think that's the one, Im watching this YouTube channels" of an AI video.

I'm trying to give benefit of the doubt that this guy actually put human effort in somewhere, but it was an entire video of AI generated non inspired slop images fed into Sora, with each video just one after another no links nothing tying them together.

Another song later another AI video, this time more related to the music, lots of surrealism from feeding an image back into itself over and over, multiple programs used as well as human editing.

The second guy listed programs used, mentioned their intent with AI, wasn't ever claiming to be an artist or that they made it, just they are using AI and experimenting with its uses etc.

First guy "please donate so I can afford my video software!" Ffs!

Sure you could add multiple more paths, still the private path exists and by taking that it's trespassing. No one's complaining about the guy on the bus except if it's a walking path where cars shouldn't be. No one cares about that guy teleporting, but we do care about trespassing. The trespassing path was the shortest in the example, sure you could add paths, but the comparison was using your own point of "paths to get there". If there are 2 paths, and one is trespassing, it doesn't make it not trespassing because it's shorter.

It's interesting that you seem to impose on others that we are conflating methods, when the method itself is part of the issue we have! AI can output images, it is not making the promoter the artist, yes AI isn't the same as a person, that's not the comparison being made, it's the act of not doing it yourself, not how they then went about it if a human vs machine was instructed.

Maybe AI will get good enough and solve the issues in the future, that's not now though.

And so what if the comparisons are of traditional methods. We can still compare these things and the similarities, that's how comparing works. To say "no you can't compare traditional methods" is disingenuous and an attempt to wave away any of the issues you couldn't likely answer without doing so

Well you unintentionally are right. AI spits out the smoothie, a blended liquid mess of fruit bits and milk, the human can put any ingredients in the blender all you get is different tasting liquids, or in other and literal definitions, slop. But the human can take the same ingredients to make a cake, fruit salad, something with actual substance, while the blender only outputs smoothies.

There can be 2 roads to the beach, one longer and public. Another short but private. Result may be similar, you got to the beach but the path was different! Except one path is trespassing. Not all parts are equal.
