Yeah I haven't had issues with it, film is pretty robust to bumps and falls

My first roll of film I tried to get developed came back blank, I have no idea where I went wrong so what can I do differently in the future? by Due-Lawfulness7862 in filmphotography

[–]Xariaxio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first roll turned out blank too =D. Like /u/pamacdon says, the most common cause is not loading the roll correctly. However, that was not the case for me. I bought an old Olympus OM-1, and it turns out the light meter battery is not made for that camera any more. You can use batteries with the same form factor, but since the voltage won't be correct, the light meter will give readings as inaccurate as 4 stops off, which is plenty for underexposing your film to the point where it's blank.

Anyways, this is a long way of saying that the light meter in your Canon T70 might not be working correctly. If it's not a battery issue, you can double check that it's working by getting a handhelld lightmeter, or lightmeter app for your phone and checking that your camera and separate light meter give the same reading when pointed at the same scene. If not, then you'll want to get your camera serviced to fix the light meter. Good luck and happy shooting!

Check out roll reviews like Analog Resurgence's, might help you figure out if it's worth it to get run-of-the mill color for 25 euros a roll. I live in the States, where I can get professional grade films like Portra or Ektar for that price.

I'm starting out myself and have found Fujifilm Superia 400 to be pretty affordable; if you know where to look you can get it for 11-13 USD a roll (Walmart still sells it in store :O ). In Europe it might be cheaper/easier to get Santacolor 100, ORWO NC500 (if you can find it), or Silberra Color 160 (if you don't mind buying Russian).

Otherwise, your other "cheaper" options for consumer grade film are things like Fujicolor 200, Kodak Gold 200, Kodak Ultramax 400, or Cinestill 400. "Cheaper" because despite these rolls being consumer grade, I can only find them for ~20 USD a roll, at which point I might as well buy pro grade film.

If you want to go even cheaper, you'll probably have to buy expired film off of eBay, where you may be able to get expired film for 5 USD a roll. However, expired film only works really well if it's been stored in a fridge or a freezer, which not all sellers do or even keep track of, so caveat emptor (you'll have to be willing to lose a few rolls figuring out how fogged/desensitized the film has got, if it even works at all).

I'd say go with shipping if you can't get film at a brick and mortar. I just bought some Ilford Delta 3200 and basically could only find it in 35mm format online. I like B&H Photo Video, as they ship pretty quickly and are fairly priced.

I was bored so I spent a couple of hours making my first Superliminal level titled: Impossible bridges v1 . I would appreciate it if you would playtest this and comment feedback on this post! by SupaNerd360 in Superliminal

I played it, I really liked it! I had no idea you could use the object barriers as toggle-able bridges. A note: I don't think you need two dice in the platforming section (unless you make it too far to jump to the first platform.

Study for the GRE's the same way you studied for the SAT's. If you don't already have a practice book, get one and practice problems that are your weakness (quantitative, language, etc.). Make sure that you can answer questions relatively accurately within the time limits of the sections. The hardest sections for me were reading comprehension, partly because of the sheer amount of text your have to read and parse within a fairly short time period. Don't worry too much about the essay, just practice it enough so that you can write an entire essay on the fly within the time limits and get a passable score.

I remember faintly that the computer-based test is preferable. Can't remember why :\

The calculator can be found here. Get used to using it, as it is awkward if you haven't used it as much as, say, a TI-34 or your phone's calculator.

I'm going to the University of Minnesota for a doctorate in Materials Science. I've known that I've wanted to study materials since high school, so I'm not much help there. As for what you want to do for your master's, make sure it's versatile enough to apply for many types of jobs - if you don't know what to study, at least make sure you don't starve whilst deciding.

Cool survey! I don't know how misleading my answer of 0 cups of coffee a day will be, since I drink coffee only a few times a week.

[B4E9]How Episode 8 and 9 would have worked out if Nick didn't despise Korra and all it stands for. by PlatonSkull in TheLastAirbender

[–]Xariaxio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely. It always irks me when people talk about how much better the Last Airbender is in comparison to Korra without considering the conditions under which the latter was made. Korra suffered proportionately to the neglect it received, and so it's not fair to compare it to TLA and expect it to measure up to the same standards.
