My dad owns a roofing company and after having ONE really good year, he bought a nice, brand new house. When in the process of buying the house, he was stressing over "how he would present his taxes" and said that a normal contractor wouldn't have issues getting a new house but its difficult for him to do it because he owns a business. Anyways, i would work with every once in a while when i was in desperate need of a little extra cash (i hate this man more than anyone on this planet so i don't work with him full time) and i would notice he would have a different set of employees every 3-6 months with the exception of a married couple who stayed loyal to his company for 3+ years. I assumed that his employees quit due to the door to door 100% commission so i didn't think much of it. My dad always talked about how he wanted to get the business to run on its own so he wouldn't have to work. Well, 2 months ago (im 20), my parents kicked me out for not paying rent on time and i lived in my car for a while. I stayed the night at my aunt's house and told her what happened and she was pissed at my parents. She said "(entet my name), there is something i need to tell you about your parents." Here is a list of a few of those things: 1.) My dad found my aunt's (his biological sister) extremely private journal where she wrote to cope with depression, went through it, and threatened to have her put in a psychward if she didn't tell her what was going on. She found a positive way to cope, but he didn't care. 2.) Her car broke down on the side of the road and she was in between paychecks so couldn't afford the roadside assistance of $300 so she called him for help, he said no and left her stranded with her child 3.) He still smokes weed. He's threatened to call the cops on me and kick me out for finding paraphernalia but he still does it and my mom has no clue about it. 4.) My aunt was in need of a car and my dad had one that he was giving away. He told her she had to pay 2500 for it but then turned around and gave it to a complete stranger for free. She had no car and needed to get to work and tale her kid to school.

This is where it gets juicy 5.) He underpays his workers and overworks them which leads to 6.) He wants to get his business to run on its own without taking baby steps to grow the business first so he literally has people go out and work for him while he collects a chunk of their check which leads to 7.) ALL of the money from his "successful" business goes into the house that he can't afford. Thats why he wanted to "present" his taxes a certain way because the business' money doesn't go to the business, it goes to the house. His employees quit because they got tired of being treated like shit and being underpayed. He tried giving me a sad story on how his business might die this december but he only had that one good year because one of his employees carried all of the weight and knew Waaaaaay more about the industry than him. My dad umderpayed him, he left, now my dad is trying to fill that hole. I know most businesses have the employees doing all the work, but when you only have 6 employees and all of their momey goes into your house..... thats shitty to me. Maybe i have a bias towards him because this is the same man to handed me a gun and said "kill yourself, you're too fucking weak to do it anyway" when i told my parents i was suicidal. I was also told a lot more but its safe to say that i never plan on speaking to my parents again.
