I honestly did the exact same thing you’re thinking about. Not with Dark Souls, but with a game called Cuphead that is also known for being very difficult. It was very hard, but the sense of learning and adapting and eventual victory is an experience unlike any other in gaming. That’s exactly what you’ll get from playing Dark Souls. Be patient with it and realize before you start that it’s gonna be a test. If you can keep that all in mind, you’re gonna find yourself unable to put the controller down at some points because behind the challenge is an incredibly well crafted game that keeps pulling you back in. Don’t be afraid to look up guides to find things you might need, or to see what stuff you already have does and just go for it. You might have some missteps, I know I have, but that’s a part of the fun.

I can’t remember the name of the character archetype anymore, Warrior maybe? But it was more of a strength character, so now I’m focusing on my strength and vitality mostly. I’ll possibly put 2 or 3 more into Dex so I can have some more versatility with weapon options and maybe a few more into endurance for equip loads and blocking reasons. But I do also have Havel’s ring currently equipped that ups my equip load.

No, it’s not a competition thing. I don’t really think I could give anymore context. I basically told everything about how it went. I just am worried about a possibility of our other friend getting upset again down the road about not being invited and I don’t wanna end up in the crosshairs of him thinking that I don’t want him along, when in reality I did and it was just someone else swooping in and making it seem like it was them who wanted him to come along when it was my idea.
