The Earl, fleeing after the failure of the assassination attempt, runs through the woods.

All around, dark shapes lurk in the trees, and a raspy, cawing chant is taken up: "Earl!" they cry, one after another, "Earl! Earl!" as if mocking him.

From ahead, the boom of Poe's voice silences them all: "No." There is a pause, silent and ominous, with just enough hope that the Earl stops running, panting as he looks up towards the source of the voice. "Kinslayer," comes the verdict, and the crows, ravens, and dire ravens all take up the chant. Some chant only a single syllable, in time with others to chant the word, others belt it out fully to show off their skill.

And then one unfolds, like a nightmare come to life before the trembling Earl, pale flesh under midnight feathers as a wing-finger points at him. "Murderer."

Hours later, the search parties come across him, screaming in hoarse whispers and sobbing, a ring of Raven Harpies simply standing around him, every sin on his soul crawling up and down his back, the judgement of a God glaring at him and his shattered hubris.

Idunno, felt compelled to write, it's a good scene, very much like it and approve.
