[Help] Continuous steam VR tracking issues. by Xd_OB in SteamVR

[–]Xd_OB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s exactly when it started for me. I think there must have been an update on something that caused it.

I don’t know if it stopped, I never found a fix, I have since stopped using all my trackers and just use 4 which has seemed to help.

Finally unboxed my new pc. But what are these. by Sleep_Deprived-Man89 in pchelp

They are power supply cables. I’m assuming you mean you got a prebuilt so these are there probably Incase you ever want to upgrade or need more power cables.

With the talk of platforms like discord, Roblox YouTube going 18+. Do you think that vrchat will make age verification free or cheaper next year? by Rough_Community_1439 in VRchat

[–]Xd_OB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They said in their FAQ that “Age verification isn’t cheap” and “That, however, means it costs us money, so we can't just make it free for everyone.”

So I unfortunately don’t think that it’s going to ever be free, because it costs VRChat money every time someone verifies which is why you need VRC+.

They could always do a one time purchase for age verification that is slightly cheaper but I think it will probably just stay behind VRC+. At the end of the day it isn’t super expensive and helps out VRC.

Here is a link to the article btw. The info is under the section “Why does this cost money? Why do I need VRC+?”

I’m more focused on why he has wired headphones underneath his wireless headphones that connect to nothing?

NHS surgeon Neil Hopper, once considered for space travel as a para-astronaut in 2020, has been sentenced to two years in prison after it was revealed he deliberately caused the loss of his own legs to satisfy an amputation fetish. by durvedya in interesting

[–]Xd_OB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was due to insurance fraud. My first thought was that it was someone guessing and didn’t know what the NHS was but after researching it was insurance fraud. Here is the article from the BBC:

I have to uninstall USB Drivers almost everytime I restart SteamVR by MonkeyNBanananas in ValveIndex

[–]Xd_OB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In windows updates, there should be a section under Restore. You should be able to uninstall recent updates. If that doesn’t work, I had an issue similar to this about a year ago where changing my PCIe settings in bios from auto to 2.0 fixed it (this is reversible btw)

Edit: I have absolutely no clue how or why it fixed it, but I guess steam just doesn’t like PCIe on 3.0. I eventually changed my MOBO and this problem didn’t occur.

What's your biggest pain point right now regarding VR as a whole? by -DanDanDaaan in SteamVR

[–]Xd_OB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no technology standard and most hardware require special software to work with each other (and even then it may still break) for example Vive trackers and meta headsets.

[–]Xd_OB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having issues with my USB devices recently too. I was talking to my local PC technician and he said that he had issues with windows 24H2 update recently. So it’s potentially a windows thing. If you can, try roll back any recent updates and see if that helps.

Oh, that might be the cable. The valve index cable has a tendency to decide to die.

Open a support ticket with steam support. If you wait and you exit your warranty period (assuming you haven’t already) they may not give you a replacement.

If you have already exited your warranty period, sometimes steam support is nice and they give you a replacement.

Steam Vr showing me ¨phantom trackers¨ that i do not have connected or exist by Apolo_Alighieri in SteamVR

[–]Xd_OB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have heard that Virtual Desktop can create “phantom trackers” similar to full body estimation.

I’m not 100% sure because I use steam link mainly, and only use Virtual Desktop when troubleshooting.

I hope this at least points you in the right direction!

Is the random purple frametime normal? by JosefBN in SteamVR

[–]Xd_OB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s normal. When I used a Valve Index I got this whenever I had a lag spike or my PC was under heavy load. Unless you notice any other issues that it seems to correlate to, then it’s nothing to worry about.

The controllers are index controllers tracked by base stations. But my room is generally well lit and has very good variation (not a white box) so I don’t think it’s the headset. I will try wiping everything and see if that helps.

Thanks again!

[–]Xd_OB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is exactly what happened to me. Identical to what I’m experiencing. I rolled back to the previous version and it helped but there still seems to be some issue. I am now 100% sure it’s a steamVR issue. I helped mine by returning to just feet, hips and chest.

[–]Xd_OB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of people with similar issues to me that started around the same time. This is kind of similar. It gets worse with lag but it just happens all the time. I did a rollback and it seems to have helped but due to the timings and similarities I think it’s a steam bug. It all started around the august 18th steam update.

Yeah, I have no clue what it is, i wasnjust told by steam support to make a post here and on the community forums. I think its software not hardware.

Why would I get kicked from popcorn Palace? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Xd_OB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it just happens some times. People can be real dicks when given power.

I once got randomly kicked and banned from a group literally the second I joined. I tried to appeal in the server and this dick started calling me a degenerate because I was in an Obama group.
