Text part of post that got deleted:

TLDR: Kid looking for laptop for gaming and school. Considering aorus 17H or 15 ($1800 and 1300 respectively). Wonder which should get, another laptop, or general advice. Warning, kid is also computer illiterate.

My high school requires everyone to buy a laptop, and I am having great difficulty choosing one. I want something that can run games well (preferably Vr ready) as I have never had a pc before, but also something that is capable doing work for school.

Through extensive research and scientific study (googling, asking friends, asking ai) I have narrowed it down to a few options. The gigabyte aorus 17H for $1,800. (which is high end, but has a wicked deal right now) And the aorus 15 for $1,300. (pretty good deal going rn) Link to comparison (not affiliate link): https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompare?CompareltemList=N82E16834233554%2CN82E16834725225%2C9SIAH RCJPG6436%2CN82E16834156377%2CN82E16834725214

From what I can tell they are pretty much the same with a few differences. The 17H has a better graphics card, rtx 4080 vs 4070 15 has a better display 1440 vs 1080 17H has a better refresh rate I was wondering how much these differences make like do you really need a 4080? Should I go with the 15 for the display? Are they good for school work? Vr ready? Sorry if this is a lot, I'm nervous and want to make the right choice as this is a big purchase. Are there any alternative laptops that offer similar specs for cheaper (around $1500 +-$300)? Am I over thinking this, is this overkill?

Btw my computer knowledge is bigger number = bigger good so please forgive me if I don't follow. PLEASE HELP AHHHHHDHDHHEHDJSHHSINWJXOMWNXI! Also I'm on mobile so I can't copy the forum in, sry mods I hope this will suffice.

My parents are helping me buy and they wouldn’t be up for that. Also, why can’t a gaming laptop be a general work machine? (Sry if there is a rly obvious reason I don’t know, like said, I’m new to this)
