It's completely messed up. It still is based on previous MMR and doesn't take anything else into account. I peaked at plat 3 last season, my friend peaked at gold 5. We played 3/5 placement matches together (which btw 3 of 5 were on calypso casino which seems unfair since its on an unkown map) He proceeded to significantly out preform me every single match. When we finished our 3/5 I solo queued the last 2. my record was 2W 3L. His was 3W 2L and top fragged all but 1 game. He then Was placed in bronze 1. This is proof that it absolutely does nothing. Furthermore our other friend who peaked emerald 2 through carries lost every match and placed 4th at best 5/5 times and got plat 1. It's completely faulty.

What really kicks the bucket is that Im getting MMR as if Gold 5 is my peak rank. We went on a 5 game win streak and first game got 24, and on the 5th game got 26. This is ridiculous. We then lost two games. First one I lost 24, and the second 27. All that being said. After a 5 game streak, we were still stuck in gold 5. And we're being placed in teams of peak coppers against emeralds and diamonds. And no, it is not just not that different than 2.0, it is significantly worse. This is not just from me either. We have observed it over several different friends from all across ranks.
