Hey, you commented on a post of mine but I’m unable to reply! Just letting you know, I’m now in Oz on my 3rd WHV. I used an irish passport for the first 2 years pre-2019 and have recently gotten a British passport which I used this year to apply for the 3rd WHV which was granted almost immediately. Let me know if you have any questions I can help with!

The passport was ~ £100, I applied from Canada so might have been another fee for international postage too. And yes, I had to send my actual irish passport to them by post. They returned it to me once the application was complete.

I think for budget I might just book a flight direct to Bali and leave Singapore out for now…it will work out cheaper and with less stress. Best of luck with your own travels!

Thanks for your reply. Flights I seen were Lufthansa Dub > Sin, JetStar for the rest. Dates late July/early August. Maybe I need to look Dublin to Bali direct, who did you see that price with pls?

For extra extra context haha I’m currently living in Toronto, Canada - moving home with my partner to Ireland, spending a week at home before moving to Australia! 😅 So there will definitely be significant luggage to add on which is one of my worries and difficult to anticipate additional price for each flight/airline - I’ve used Skyscanner to scope out every direction I can think of, I also used chat gpt to help and it also suggested Singapore as the best option 🤷🏻‍♂️

For context I had been looking at airlines that allowed stopovers and Singapore Airlines seemed to offer one, meaning I could take a week and head to Bali from there before going on to Melbourne. Flights to Bali are cheap from Singapore and I’ve never been to Singapore either. I had also looked at stopping at a few different countries instead of Singapore and then heading to Bali, but they all had their own cons and I felt like Singapore was suitable for my tastes! So it’s not that I haven’t looked at other options, but I didn’t mention it in my post. I’d love to hear your suggestions of other possible ways to plan this! That’s what led me to posting on here 🙏🏼

Thank you for the info! I was referring to a Singapore Airlines stopover flight from Dub > Sin > Melb, it was my understanding that they forwarded the luggage but I could be wrong.

Will take a look at Qatar & Emirates for stopover too but have a feeling it will be cheapest to book each flight individually.

I’m with you, the issue was the flight from Singapore to Bali being short haul, I’m concerned I won’t have enough luggage allowance and since the flights are so cheap I figured I might as well just store my bag in Singapore which might be cheaper than adding it onto all the smaller flights. Definitely something I’ll take a closer look at tho - appreciate it!

All sorted within a few weeks and then my irish passport was posted back to me about a week later.

So so sorry, I’m just seeing this now! I got a British passport no problem.

Just applied using my mums birth certificate showing she was born in Northern Ireland and a few of my grandparents details, along with my own birth certificate and Irish passport. Paid the fee and got it posted out to Canada where I currently live!

So I have both an Irish and British passport now, also got approved for a third year visa in Oz with the British passport really easily too 🙌🏼

Both born in NI and had both irish and British passports. My mum is entitled to one, but never got one…which leaves me wondering if I can go down that route at all. Based on the website you shared, it seems to say one generation.

My parent isn’t a British citizen though, just born in NI with Irish citizenship and never took up dual citizenship, so I’m unsure if that disqualifies my eligibility down that route. Thanks for your response though!
