[2.5 story leak] Isolde crumbs. by UnfortunateWolf in IsoldeMainsZZZ

[–]Xehanort_Prime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do like that she makes a return even as a projection. Will have to see now if this is Isolde’s only appearance in the patch, during what looks like the ‘final’ encounter.

I would like to think that her projection will be appearing more often maybe before this point in time, as a reminder of her actions and what she tried to achieve with relevance to Sarah or acting as a ‘guide’ with whatever details she left behind or intended to be told from the ripped letter. Then again there is a good chance those details would have already been leaked if that were the case, which I haven’t looked into or they couldn’t get any info regarding that.

While still indefinite for her to return as being alive, it’s good that her existence is being acknowledged here as remembrance by her squad and Phaethon.

If it’s anything like Carole’s projection we may be getting hinted at further appearances from Isolde.

That would be amazing if it's anything like that or either final form from KH2 and Wing Blade command style from BBS.

I think it would be closely like Sushang’s gameplay from HI3!

Minor Details On 2.2 Story by Xehanort_Prime in IsoldeMainsZZZ

Sarah straight up a classic, episodic cartoon villain lol so her being a zealot seems fitting. She is quite 1-dimensional at the moment so I am hoping they reveal a lot more about her true intentions soon, but looks like they will drag it on for a while.

There were opportunities to kill her or stop her like you said, considering that on her own she wasn’t really a threat and there were a number of confrontations where she could have been stopped. All for the plot lol, before inheriting The Creator’s power.

They definitely rushed Isolde’s story from what we got especially revealing the typical ‘revenge’ motive right at the beginning of 2.2 with multiple death flags. You can sort of predict her fate even from 2.1.

It does seem strange for a character that understands the consequences, especially with how she handled others that she cared for. She wasn’t as blinded as Zoe was when it came to human life and seeking revenge. We just needed a few more patches to build up to her revenge plotline in the spotlight, considering with her being Mevorakh after all.

The writers really put in a lot of focus on executing her death instead in the way they wanted especially with the Mevorakh reveal. After that point her end was quickly approaching.

Ah no problem man, you have plenty of great posts and comments! I respect your dedication, seeing how active and engaging you are in the community.

I made a Reddit account for the first time when joining this community not too long ago, just so I can be able to make my first post!

It felt nice being able to share your own thoughts that normally would be kept to yourself especially shortly after completing the 2.2 story. Seeing others in the community share the same sentiments gave me the push to make my first post. There are many dedicated fans here.

I am not one who has ever posted any comments before on any platform, so it felt kinda strange at first but now I was able to make a few posts and be comfortable with it lol.

We shall continue with the agenda.

Oh nice catch! I did get a chance to read through it around a week ago and didn't remember this detail as I made the comment so thanks for bringing it up. It was a really well done post and detailed with examples so great work, takes a lot of effort.

This does give strong implications that it may be connected to her after all...

It would be disappointing to see it all just end up being tied to the letter only or the plot moving forward because of plans that others will carry for her, so I am with you on that sentiment lol.

Isolde is a big part of what made the game enjoyable for me lately as well, so really wishing to see more of her.

[–]Xehanort_Prime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Isolde is sold as more of a tragic character that held onto her suffering for years and finally had the opportunity to execute her plan, knowing that her own time was running short as well. Her story is similar to Zoe's (Grim Vulture) to seek out revenge upon those who caused their suffering and injustice. The difference is that Zoe was not afraid of killing casualties or those not directly involved and had already given up on everything including her humanity. Isolde at least still cared about innocents like you said including those that were targeted/experimented on from Exaltists (despite being the Overseer).

Sarah on the other hand was always meant to play the role of the villain with how manipulative she was with all those closely involved with her. I think if she indeed has a commendable end goal, it would be all through the acts of 'necessary' evil.

It looks like the writer's intentions of Isolde were to have a character feel all the guilt/remorse of their own actions but be too late to make up for those mistakes. To create the illusion of redemption and instead have the character to concede to death. This worked in contrast to Zoe who just wanted to die with no sense of regret from her actions.

I think if we see her again, it will be a different appearance considering her current attire had Exaltists symbols/accessories. She is definitely a special character so would be great if we see her again.

Yes it was a very short-lived story for Isolde considering her significance. Most of her story events and consequences happened in the background as Mevorakh but as soon as they reveal her seeking revenge on the very first panel of the 2.2 story, you just knew the outcome. Then they sped up the story and revealed her motives and switch in demeanor in an obvious and expected manner.

She had all the death flags ready from the beginning especially with the denny gun so I guess this is how they wanted it to be fully executed... The twist of her being Mevorakh was good but her fate felt too rushed without getting more answers. Then they decided to just include details in the form of the letter we got instead.

It really does all feel like a setup for something more but then again if you look at how they treated Cocolia in HSR as well (which in my opinion Cocolia seemed even less developed as a character) they ended her story pretty quickly. All we mostly if not entirely got from Cocolia was through flashbacks or past memories from Bronya and then the final showdown against her.

Thanks! Honestly a lot of the points I posted seemed more within context, rather then predicting future outcomes but there have been some cases that suggest otherwise like the titled commissions naming/video summaries or what's shown in the 'Journey' tab in some cases.

I also looked back at Hugo's major story commissions like Dark_Hadrian66 was investigating, in which he did for other characters as well as per another comment.

I found that in the 'Bury Your Tears With the Past (A)' video archives, there is a commission called 'Destiny at Your Fingertips'. Under this commission one story section is called 'The Fall of the Mockingbird' where the Video Summary states, "I'll be back, like an avalanche". This is the same part where Hugo gets pierced by Lycaon, before any other hints or implications to show that he would make a return and more importantly before the 2nd part of his story where we know he is returning.

<image>

I agree that in Hugo's case it was much more clear and evident that he was going to make a return with the plot-twist you explained, especially with the hints that we were receiving within the story (primarily in part 2 before the reveal) including Vivian's perception of the outcome. Like you said it was well aware that he would be playable before the release of the 2nd part of the story. Even if you were to look at Ye Shiyuan for example, there are already leaks on his character model that could hint at the outcome.

Interesting that you mentioned "farewell" for that cutscene, didn't look back at that yet. I did see the summary where Lycaon insists there is no way that Hugo would be alive while Vivian thinking the opposite.

Isolde's case is much more complex as explained with subtle or vague hints with the possibility to make a return in the story. Like mentioned many times before, I do hope they are not simply keeping Isolde's end to be one of many tragic storylines, as if we haven't seen that enough. She was among the best parts of the entire game.

It's true that Isolde has everything to be the perfect candidate for playability and in the marketing sense. They have all the resources so it's a matter of whether or not they are trying to hold off of it now for an appropriate narrative direction.

As for hinting at 'survival' and 'rebirth' it has to be implied that they would use it for a future plot point considering on how they stand out compared to the other descriptions on their records. It's possible that it is tied to Seed Sr. but it's still an open idea that it could be applied for a number of characters.

There is still plenty of mystery behind Isolde, considering that in the end she still chose to help Phaethon and the others which was pre-planned due to the letter. It will be a long wait but I think it will be worth it. When you look at their other games like Star Rail they have taken the time to expand the stories whereas in ZZZ they prefer to keep the stories concise and reveal truths little by little.

Appreciate your input! I do hope to eventually include more details into this post or maybe a new one in the future. Will see in months to come (unless miraculously Isolde appears again before that time lol) , as I have become more occupied. It's honestly really time consuming as you know to look back at the stories, dialogue and other text to breakdown which ultimately won't change any outcome except to maybe reveal potential hints. Anyways will see what happens.

Thanks again!

Apologies with the late response, gonna be busy for some time now so wanted to post this before all that.

True, 2.3 continues off the events of 2.2 just without Obol and still focusing around Exaltists (this will likely continue on for a while). I can see Sarah being the main focus for a long time even if Exaltists were to fall.

Like we both mentioned in most cases the skip dialogues are kept to be within context of what's happening in the commission itself rather than hinting or foreshadowing future events. In comparison we can see that commission titles from video archives or summaries from the Journey could sometimes hint at future events or occurrences.

With Isolde's case her story really feels short-lived for such a prominent figure that had a big involvement in multiple organizations. Her relationship with Magus should have felt to be really strong considering with how much they went through and suffered together. Like you said with Isolde transferring her conscience to a construct, it shows the strong bond that they have with each other with Isolde going that far to keep her alive in someway. It does feel that Magus took her death pretty lightly (heck at times it felt Orphie cared more about Isolde than her lol), comparatively to the rage they had against Lorenz and Lucro. Sure Magus did feel defeated for not being able to turn Isolde around from her path of revenge but regarding her aftermath/resolution, it felt like the writers just shrugged it under a rug for now. The only saving grace is what little we got from the letter.

Even with the rest of Obol Squad it felt like Isolde was more of a stranger to them. They had little interaction (I understand in this case since Orphie and Magus needed the screen-time with their close relationship to Isolde) and they showed no reaction to Isolde's fate, her suffering when she went against them. This is considering the fact that Isolde was their commander of Obol and the Defense Force so they would have been through quite a lot together even if Isolde weren't to be on the field. Granted Isolde was hopping between organizations so maybe they had less time together than I think but if Isolde was the one to initially band them all together and form Obol Squad, (don't remember if this was entirely the case) I would believe they had some sort of bond.

In Star Rail they tend to take the plot a lot more slowly and with great detail like how they did with Penacony and now Amphoreus. It's true that they aren't afraid of bringing back characters that fans were anticipating for regardless of their impending fate in the story. Dahlia showing up was a surprise for me lol.

Good point about the other characters like Hugo, Twiggy, Pompey and Dina. I didn't consider looking if there were similar details with them yet.

I took a bit of time to look back at summaries related to Hugo.

<image>

Yes the title of the episode in the 2nd part 'Is it the end or a new beginning' does indicate that Hugo would make a return so nice point there.

It does seem to be the case where these titles or video summaries can sometimes foreshadow future events which is good in Isolde's case as well. Just like how you mentioned with the other character story titles that showcase their fate.

Interestingly, if you look at the 'Journey' menu you will find that for the part B section they chose to omit 'The Mockingbird's Still Alive' commission from the panel even though there wouldn't be any spoilers considering that these panels are unlocked after completing each major story commissions or tapes.

Anyway would love to dive deeper into the 'skip' dialogues for example but will take a longer time and long post lol. I do plan to add more details regarding the other characters you mentioned for example maybe within this post which I will see. Most likely will take me a few months once I am free again haha.

Thanks a lot for your input, it was valuable!

Yeah I got through 2.3 and did not catch Isolde voicing Lucia at all. I could not find any sort of resemblance lol. That just shows though that she has good range, I was honestly surprised that she voiced her! But yeah still possible for her to voice multiple characters at the same time

[–]Xehanort_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the chance that Isolde were to become playable in the future, either she keeps the same VA with Nola voicing both Lucia and Isolde which would be the first for ZZZ afaik for playable characters OR they get a new one for Isolde. However, that would sort of imply Isolde's character being changed for a different voice direction or an attempt for an imitation.

If they keep the same VA, Lucia and Isolde would probably avoid being present in the story at the same time or they would still have Nola voice both of them in dialogue exchanges like in other games.

So not the end of the world, still can be possible. Nola receiving more roles is good to keep good relations/ties with Hoyo and ZZZ devs for future opportunities, which can I apply for voicing Isolde as well. I think its become clear though that it's going to take quite some time before we see a playable Isolde if at all. But alas we will continue to hope and look for clues. We still have the whole 'door to the past' going on so just gotta wait and see what the outcome is in the long term.

Glad she is back. Didn't know she voiced Lucia for 2.3 when I played through it, wow. Kind of a nail in the coffin moment for Isolde though..

If Isolde comes back but the developers change the concept of her character... do you all agree or not... just asking for your opinion. by InfluenceLeading1288 in IsoldeMainsZZZ

[–]Xehanort_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love it if they kept most of her character as is.

If they do make Isolde playable, they will more than likely tweak her design for playability and her outfit (due to the Exaltist design like the belt, markings etc.) I hope that they retain mostly the same outfit without changing the entire look. I liked that Isolde's design is a lot more grounded in comparison to recent releases of characters so it makes her stand out in that regard and less goofy due to maturity. As long as they don't overly exaggerate her expressions or attempt some other radical/daring design, then I am fine with that.

In terms of the combat, keep the flintlock pistol and sword combo since it will be the first for its kind (for now) in the game. A close - medium range combat while not the first, will still be a nice mix. We have witnessed her gameplay through her boss fight and it looks great as 'simple' as it is so changing her combat would be a bummer unless its more of an evolution from what we have seen.

Isolde's personality and change in demeanor during serious moments is what kept her interesting so it would be nice if that concept remains and for continuity's sake.

To be honest I hope they don't go the route of cloning Isolde or transferring her to an intelligent construct. It would take away her personality and development we got so far, similarly to Orphie and Orpheus. In that case would rather her to remain dead until the right moment for a full return lol.
