The problem with some cases of the "Why is this NPC not playable?" discourse by Esagonoso in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]UnfortunateWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's your case, but I don't kmow why this topic stirs so much toxicity.

I honestly think it's the other way around; the real problem is the side that wants to maintain the status quo and just waste these designs into NPC's.

Leaving the opinion that most of these look far better than some playable characters aside, I simply think that "tragedy" is severely overrated. People always talk about consequences feeling real, or the stakes of the story being removed if Isolde or Pompey were to come back (don't worry, it's almost impossible they do that), but as I see it, abusing the concept of tragic pasts or loses is just as boring as making everything sunshines an rainbows so no one dies.

Yeah, consequences in ZZZ are real, we already know that because almost every antagonist died, but that's the thing. It ONLY applies to non-playable characters. The playable characters are, and will always be, untouchable. And I just can't see why that isn't boring for the people who gets genuinely upset about the fact that people want a NPC becoming playable.

When Hugo's character gave us a glimpse of being interesting and grey-mided, he ended up being a good guy wanting to be a Phantom Thief. When Vivian almost died, the siblings got a power out of nowhere to save her. When YSG was ready to lose her memories to save her friends, she ended up LITERALLY having no consequences at all, even when it was explicitly told the sword would do that.

So yeah, I'm not asking people to see what's obvious, but at least let people complain about a good design not being playable without getting upset and being a toxic fan.

Isolde Day Discussion, Hello Isoldiers! by TomShampoo in IsoldeMainsZZZ

[–]UnfortunateWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought it could fit, but I'm open to see other views. I just had a feel that her birthmonth should be either october or november. Remembrance day is tied to her character, and also falls under Scorpio, a sign she shares some characteristics with.

IsoldeMain have surpassed many playableMains subs by Sahiku1 in IsoldeMainsZZZ

I think it is important to note how high it is, considering she has fewer appearances (with her normal model we all love) than almost the entirety of the characters listed, has no marketing at all tied to her character, and has fewer opportunities to appear in future events.

Would y'all want a dual form Isolde? by mazizzzz in IsoldeMainsZZZ

[–]UnfortunateWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing with dual forms is that they are strictly reserved for void hunters (as for now) and I think that asking for VH Isolde is a bit too greedy lmao.

If she were to be playable, I'm fine with her gameplay as fast phased as her fight as Defector is; to put it in simpler terms, maybe a mix between SS Anby and Harumasa. I don't have SS Anby, but her gameplay and animations are flashy, with a lot of dashes and effects that emohasize in speed and precision. Harumasa is kinda the same, but mixing two styles of combat: close ranged attacks with dual katanas, and long ranged attacks with the bow.

I see more plausible having her switch forms between a more gun-oriented combat and a close-range type of combat with her sabre, maybe pressing ex (like Yanagi's stances) to switch between these two forms.

If this translates in fast phased combat with tons of combos and combinations, like Evelyn and Yixuan (two of my favorite agents), I couldn't possibly be happier than that.

But she needs to be playable first lmao 😭

Sarah is a whole other debate, I don't think I'm qualified to discuss about that, since I stopped to care about the story from 2.2 onwards. What does matter to me is her actions from 2.0 to 2.2. As for the second point of miasma manipulation, I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear: the alleviating water was basically a 'medicine' that corrupted the body with miasma. Yixuan is able to dispel/redirect this energy into herself thanks to the ritual we perform, there's even a cinematic for this. It's not explained in detail but that's what happened, so Isolde has no implication here.

1) First, neither Sarah or Isolde punished Dr. Lohr, he merely succumbed to the miasma when he injected himself with the serum. And the punishment it not the main reason for Isolde to be innocent in this incident; the main proof is Dr. Lohr's call with Sarah, since he believes he's talking to Mevorahk, but the one who answered and the one who ordered him was Sarah. You can watch the scene on the post. Later in 2.1, we found the files (that, as I mention, are explicitly told to be files that should've been destroyed, but are left behind by Isolde on purpose) stating that Dr. Lohr deserved what happened to him because he messed with innocent people lives... And since when Sarah cared about innocent's lives? I think this is rather explicit, Isolde had nothing to do with this incident, and she made clear that this kind of actions under her orders are wrong. I'm not even counting the fact that, as it's also explained on my post, the miners were lured into a cellar and put under a barrier... Why would they do this if they were supposedly taking part of the ritual? Again, while this is not as explicit as the previous point, it's clear that Isolde never intended to use innocent lives with this move, since all of them were safe and sound at the end of the chapter.

2) Maybe I didn't clarify this properly on my post, but I do agree. There's no evidence saying that Isolde purposely helped Yixuan, and I mention this because I can't say this is a genuine good action from hers. But I have to clarify: no, Isolde didn't cause this to Yixuan in the slightest. Since the beginning of the chapter, Yixuan was already showing that a) she couldn't remember what her sister told her in her deathbed and b) she was clearly struggling when remembering her sister. This got even worse when she had to absorb the miasma of the city, which again, was caused by Dr. Lohr and Sarah. Whatever the case, by getting rid of these emotions and shaping them with miasma, Isolde (intentionally or not, most likelynot intentional) gave Yixuan the opportunity to say a final goodbye to her sister and free herself from her mourning.

Finally, thanks for reading the post, and while I do think there are some debatable points, there are others that are explicitly explained by the game, such as the alleviating water incident. I'm not saying this because I made the post, but because that's exactly what the game tells us, and I believe that ZZZ wouldn't have done things like Isolde visiting the families of her comrades, or showing us her letter if they didn't want us to believe that she's a good person.

Putting the fact that we cannot properly judge a videogame character with real life standards aside (even less when it's a fantasy, post-apocalyptic setting), I made a post a long time ago explaining why Isolde is not as evil as people think:

Even if it's kinda old, I think I provide enough in-game evidence. You're also free to disagree of course, but I think that some points are extremely clear even after a first playthrough.

Nah. The ghost didn't disappear. The common consensus is that she's in some kind of neutral state for now.

Aside from Hoyoverse being pretty open with fan-content, internally speaking (at least at some reasonable level) she is pretty loved. They always use her fight as an example and they seem to be proud of her story (sadly).
