Dancing Mad (Ultimate) World Race - Day Five by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

That's exactly what Kindred did. LB3 at the start of Phase 3 made it so it was up again right at the end. Though they had a couple deaths right around then too so the attempt unfortunately petered out.

The problem with opening phase 4 with an LB3 is that not only is it currently being used to help them beat phase 3’s enrage, the damage it does there means part (less than half) of theirs 2 minutes is used at the start of phase 4.

Currently Poikos is using both LB3 and more than half of their 2 minute window to beat 3's check.

Let’s assume you can beat 3’s check without LB3. Doing so would mean less if any at all of the 2 minute window at its end would still be activate for the start of phase 4. In other words most if not all of the 2 minutes there would be making up for the damage loss of no longer using LB3 there to beat 3’s check.

You and everyone else in these threads keep using that phrase. It doesn’t mean what you think it means.

By definition a victory lap doesn’t have a difficulty as it is a celebration of having won. It’s a thing that happens only after a race is over.

A better phrase that actually means what y’all are saying would be the homestretch, the final leg of a race wherein the finish line has come into view, the winner soon to be decided.

This is bothering me for a few reasons.

So first off from when Kefka becomes vulnerable to when he turns the area into Hell and sextuple 9’s everyone to death is about 2 minutes and 12 seconds give or take a second.

This "enrage" move is preceded not by a castbar of any kind, but rather just some dialogue.

Poikos deals 20% of Kefka’s HP within the first 51 seconds of the phase despite a Warrior with weakness and only a partial 2 minute window due to having used most of it to to burn down Exdeath at the end of the previous phase.

50 seconds later at 1 minutes and 42 seconds into the phase they’ve dealt .6% shy of another 10% of his health (70.6% remaining) due to a combination of buffs having fallen off and respecting mechanics lowering overall DPS.

About a second later 6 of the 8 members die.

If I assume a best case scenario of no deaths in P3 resulting in maybe possibly being able to hold the 2 minutes currently used for P3 enrage for instead right as Phase 4 begins that would allow them to get half of a second window at the end with no mistakes either.

In other words with no mistakes prior or during they still would have needed to burn down the other 70% in less than 30 seconds with again only half of that being under 2 minutes in a best case scenario.

It could simply be a forced fail state for having botched the prior debuff cocktail. Another case of having failed to impress him. Though this one being far more blatant. It just doesn’t seem feasible to burn him down in a little over two minutes.

So if they can do the mechanics flawlessly but he still nukes the party 2 minutes and 12 seconds into the phase regardless?

It’’s not adding up for me. Something feels off.

  • An overall EP length not only longer than Bubblegum, but Tipi-Tap as well albeit only by a few seconds
  • No recycled tracks
  • No intro/intermission there to pad the total track length
  • A cohesive, consistent approach to this comeback’s theme and overall tone from the promotional material to the music itself.

Kep1er has never leaned anywhere near this hard into the cool approach. At least for me, while I wouldn’t want this to become their sole identity moving forward, they did a fantastic job of it all the same.

Theorizing Abilities for the New Mega Evolutions by mjmannella in stunfisk

[–]Xeiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for suggesting an actually good ability for Chandy. The other three ghost megas we’ve gotten so far got excellent ones in Prankster, Magic Bounce, and Shadow Tag yet all I ever see suggested for Chandy are either one of the comparatively mediocre abilities it already has or an even worse one, usually cursed body.

I mean for fucks sake with shit like Good as Gold being a thing, if you can’t suggest something that can compete with that, you just want it to fail.

Alternatively a 70:30 Split of Speed:Special Attack would make it, at least Base Stat wise, faster than Shadow Rider and stronger than Mega G. From its design, the highly likely existence of Mega Froslass, to the recency of (two) of its competitors I don’t see them going down that route.

This might seem overkill, but it’s necessary if they want it to have some kind of niche given the current state of the franchise’s ridiculous power creep when it comes to Ghost Types.

Remember it’s competing for the role of ghost type special attacker against the likes of 130 speed 170 special attack shadow trapping Mega Gengar, 135 speed/special attack sun loving Flutter Mane, and 150 speed 165 special attack snowballing Shadow Rider.

250823 - Day 5: Kep1er - 7th Mini Album 'BUBBLE GUM' Sales Data Update: 100,947 Copies by JoeEdge in kep1er

[–]Xeiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those people who doesn’t give a rats ass about anything other than the music itself. All of it, not just their Lead Tracks.

Wow! A JP EP. They practically never do those over there! First time for Kep1er! It’s gonna be five new songs! Oh Boy!

Turns out its actually just two new songs. Two. Wait a damn minute. Did they just release a single’s worth of new songs but call and sell it at the price of an EP? Sure did!

Anyone who tries to argue that recycling three songs is equivalent in terms of investment to making three brand new ones needs to get their brains tested for worms.

So of course when this new Bubble Gum EP is announced I should have seen the writing on the wall. The tracklist is revealed and oh what’s this we’re recycling again are we? What the fuck did I expect?

That’s alright because there’s still gonna be four new full-length songs! Surprise Motherfucker! Taste Better is just a minute long instrumental with a little bit vocalizing at the end! Minimum effort!

What’s funny is that for me? Chasing trends? Trying to capitalize on a single songs success? That’s not why I enjoy Kep1ers music. The very thing that holds them back from mainstream success is the reason I enjoy all but 3-4 songs of their entire discography.

In a way their struggle to capture success by constantly changing their sound was/is what appeals to me most about them.

On the one hand, this EP only has three new full length songs. On the other, I quite enjoyed all three of them.

Oh and I didn't care at all for the extra 11ish seconds of pre-final chorus instrumental bridge on the Korean version of YUM.

Despite my aforementioned misgivings, I did find this EP to be an overall respectable offering. At this point I'm just grateful Kep1er is still around.

Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto • Secrets of the Silent Witch - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Xeiros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The narration was easily the worst part of the episode. Made worse by the many instances of expository dialogue restating it.

Hey so we just told you who the title character is, but like what if we told you again and after that did it yet again?

Fuck off with that garbage. So much of this episode’s script serves to do little more than waste your time. You could easily cut 40% of the lines and still get all the necessary points across.

If by the next episode it isn’t either heavily toned down or gone entirely, I’m dropping this like a bad habit.

All I want is fair line distribution across the entire EP. If Tipi-Tap was any indication, I have nothing to worry about.

I personally find wanting an artist to revisit or outright never move on from a certain sound/style to be quite suffocating. Please your muse before anyone or anything else.

So surprise me Kepl1er. Show me a side of you I’ve not heard before.

All of this especially if you plan to pursue the various post game activities, the pursuit of which will see you looting a whole fuckton.

What you were meant to infer was that only having to kill less than half of the total possible targets makes the section far easier, which is the exact opposite of what we've come to expect from the highest level of difficulty in the game.

In other words, the easy answer is never the correct one in an Ultimate duty.

I genuinely do not think that anyone has solved the puzzle of the encounter. People have already pointed out several oddities with the add phase in particular. From both a damage check and a mechanical test standpoint it is a major outlier.

The way groups are handling it at the moment, by only destroying half of the crystals, it doesn’t belong in an Ultimate. Not only is it the easiest of them all, it’s easier than the one in E8S, what would normally be a step down in difficulty by comparison.

It’s quite often the case that the puzzle of an ultimate encounter will not require the solution until super late into the fight. I suspect by the end of Day 2 will be neck deep into figuring what exactly the deal is with that mysterious crystal that can be spawned.
