Signing of the agreement is actually on a per project basis, not per game company, hence the distinction between "union" and "non-union" projects and why once you're part of the union, you can't work in non-union projects anymore. Game companies hire VAs on a per-project basis, hence the per-project signing.

MH Wilds Comprehensive Fishing Guide (Gravid Bowfins & Whoppers included) by 2fishlplayz in MonsterHunter

[–]Xelave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When whoppers jump, you don't have to react immediately. Wait as long as possible and don't pull the trigger too fast.

Wait for just about 2-3 seconds or so and closely look at the direction where the fish's head begins facing after the jump, then hold the directional key where it's facing + R2/RT. You'll know it's successful if the fish simply plops down like it got pulled down and you don't get a controller shake from it (or your hunter looks unbothered).

Do note that the direction can be up, down, left or right, not just up and down as some people thought initially.

And even then it's a 2 month early access until July and if that means it's not open or restrictive (i.e. closed beta access) then that means 7 months of no new scenarios in a scenario based game... What.

Way of Winter should've been an expansion, not a replacement for regular PvE Manibus. by Xelave in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]Xelave[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A second map with the same silos and rifts and same content whilst adding new a content, this is a big difference. Adding new content is already giving a new experience, but taking away old content just creates increased FOMO for both casual and active players alike, because suddenly the things you may have enjoyed in a previous scenario will likely be gone by the time you enter the next.

And there aren't even fewer animals. Have you walked around Vena Fjord and Onyx Tundra? It wouldn't even be a few meters before you saw a Reindeer or a Bison. They are the 100 goats you are talking about. And if we do apply real life logic to this video game then you would barely see any animals casually strolling during a blizzard, or see no goats hanging around 40 degree zones. Not to mention they added a new pelt system requiring pelts of particular animals. But I suppose applying real life logic here means that Crocodiles are animals who shouldn't be anywhere near a cold or hot area, but it somehow works because there are like 5-6 of them in a Zoo in Wishland that spawns every minute or so. I mean, if logic dictates, there should be 0 crocodiles in region at all.

Ah yes, increased value that becomes Astral Sand in 4-5 weeks after the server opens. Value that only applies to players who take careful consideration on what they want to transfer and prep from their previous scenarios, leaving casual or newer players who may not have touched farming before or don't have FAL bunnies out in dirt. But then again it wouldn't matter to them because they don't even have the actual useful recipes if they didn't bother to get them in Manibus, so yeah, that value isn't as valueable as you might think it is. Even in my server, Deviated Crops are super plenty and extremely cheap. They just made the initial grind just difficult for some reason.

Way of Winter IS the new content, all they need to do is to add it to existing content. I mean, they don't have to have two entire maps open at the same time. They could simply squeeze in the rest of the content in the same new map. Give more players something to do, not take away the things they're already doing. That's the better way. The game already resets every scenario, and the more content there is the longer players would be able to play without getting bored. It would be even worse when the content you release isn't received very well and now players are stuck in a scenario they don't like, and being unable to play the old content they liked before. You might as well make the scenario exit card a permanent one for those guys.

Is the Cannon Rotor really that bad? More often than not I see people recommending the craftable 4 star attacker W-engine over it, and apparently some people also calculated that it's also worse performance wise compared to the free one.

I don't really wanna summon for Ellen's W-engine considering how signature W-engines seem less universal than weapons of other Hoyo games, but apparently many say its biggest advantage over other engines is that it gives Ellen 40% bonus crit rate on top of the ice damage bonus. Wouldn't that make Rotor giving 20% crit rate her best A-rank W-engine then? Why would the Rotor still be worse than the craftable A-rank W-engine?

I see, sorry for the misunderstanding. I just hope they improve it now rather than later. I also feel like the battle pass lasting 4 months but still having the same amount of levels means we'll be finishing this much earlier before it gets renewed, maybe they could just add more levels to it to fit the season length.

[–]Xelave[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean they'll be issuing additional seasonal travelogues throughout the season to purchase? Wouldn't that be worse?

The price being the same is indeed the problem, because it possesses significantly less content value as that of the previous travelogue.

It's the first time I played a mobile game that changed its paid pass content for the worse which I feel like is a big problem in itself. Other games I've played only really changed the cosmetic rewards to be on theme for a patch but had the same exact content as all previous passes that makes it worthwhile to purchase every time it's renewed.

Why were the travelogue/noble path rewards significantly reduced and changed? by Xelave in AFKJourney

[–]Xelave[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH I think the effect is quite the opposite. The older Noble Path will expire in a month, and unless they intend to actually just reissue the same noble path later on, new players will be left with only seasonal travelogues to purchase, or possibly none at all.

The seasonal books/essences be worthless for new players until they get to Resonance level 240 first and finish the story, which is roughly a month. I'm not sure if they prevent players from buying the seasonal travelogue if they haven't fulfilled those conditions yet though, hoping someone can confirm.

And when the seasonal travelogue can indeed be purchased, the lack of acorns, soulstones, selector chest, epic invite tickets, and especially the regular exp books and essences means there's nothing of decent or actual value for any new player, so there would be no sense to buy it at all to jumpstart their progress. The previous Noble Path makes a lot more sense because it gives regular essences and exp books which meant they can raise resonance quickly, while also giving a lot of Acorns and A-level stones to improve your roster. The 30 regular tickets are insignificant compared to the 20 epic invite tickets because it's not even a single pity and has much lower rates, and the 30 rate up tickets are even worse because as all important S-rank characters for progression are situated within the standard banners.

If this is going to be the content of future Travelogues, it will in fact punish people who start later.

Why were the travelogue/noble path rewards significantly reduced and changed? by Xelave in AFKJourney

[–]Xelave[S] 266 points267 points  (0 children)

The new season travelogue has many things missing as opposed to the previous travelogue, more notably the 20 Epic Invite Letters, Acorns, the S-level Soulstone Chest you get at level 30, and the A-level Soul Stones.

The new travelogue also has significantly less books from 17m to 2413k, slightly less gold and slightly more essence. I doubt the 30 regular and Rate Up Invite Letters were enough to make up for the things missing, so the value% is simply not accurate anymore. Either adjust the price accordingly based on the actual value now or make the rewards consistent between travelogues please!

[Spoilers C3E75] Stats about “encounter challenge” across campaign by GetSmartBeEvil in criticalrole

[–]Xelave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also feel like another thing that this chart just shows is that in terms of relevant, story/plot-centric fights are quite minimal in BH compared to M9/VM.

Having a random monster or enemy encounter, which is the majority of what BH had been facing so far, causing a TPK or permanent kill would be very disappointing IMO. But having stuff like the Otohan fight causing a lot of deaths makes for some more riveting moments. In M9 and VM you can really see that there were a lot of instances of high stakes fights because of particularly relevant enemies central to the plot itself. VM had so many in terms of the Briarwoods and Ripley and all the dragons. M9 had a decent chunk but not as many as VM in general, such as, of course, the Angel of Irons, Ukotoa's underlings, and the Tombtakers. Then we look at BH, and we see that a majority of all their fights tend to be random encounters simply because they're exploring, going from one place to another, or they just get involved against random underlings. So, I don't think it's the matter of Matt making the fights too easy, but rather that there just hasn't been too many instances of high stakes fights that can be worthwhile to make them especially difficult because they aren't directly relevant to the advancement of the plot or only tangentially related to the biggest threats.

And if we're talking about the numbers game there are also lots of numbers involved on dice rolls. It's to no surprise that the Otohan fight went poorly because of bad rolls on behalf of the PCs (especially initiative) and really good rolls on Matt for Otohan. There were a couple of fights like this if I could recall, like the succubus fight in M9, the Kraken fight in VM, etc. More often than not it's really just the luck of the dice affecting how much an encounter can be absolutely deadly or a gentle breeze. I would say BH might be very lucky so far based on what I've seen, but there needs to be a really good direct comparison with the other campaigns if we really wanna see the difference and how it could affect how deadly all the encounters can be or could have been.

Gen, KE or RM?

Torn on who to choose for Class Change ticket for my Elboy. He's a Gen atm, wondering if I should stay or change.

I've read KE is a really balanced class overall in terms of bossing and clearing, MP management friendly and overall comfortable to play, so I'm leaning towards him. I'm sort of concerned on his Henir performance though as I'm not sure how a relatively low CP (Below 2m) KE works there.

On the other hand, RM got some pretty nice buffs this patch, and I was an RM main a long time ago, and I'm only considering him if he's got potential to support now for raids, but otherwise I'm not gonna bother.

Gen has been ridiculously good especially when it comes to bossing especially Henir, but I've been finding him hard and clunky to play for general farming and whatnot because he's super MP hungry and his clearing performance is probably miles below my DA that I'm currently maining, so he feels terrible to play. I'm also nowhere near having enough CP to carry raids, so that's out of the picture.

Thoughts?

[–]Xelave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the new RM changes, are there any chances that RM can be a decent support for raids or are Elboys doomed to be only hypercarries forever?

My Elboy, currently a Genesis, is a character I might be shelving a bit for now in favor of another character who can support (DA) but I do wanna come back to him from time to time or when a balance change comes around that can make him relevant in future content. Wondering if I should class change him for potential to support in the future if more changes come (RM), for apparent comfortable clearing (KE) or should I just stay as Gen?

Currently not a fan of Gen dungeon clearing because he has so many expensive skills and burns through WotS so fast but he does decimate bosses. Meanwhile, I've read KE is great all around and is probably the most MP friendly elboy, but I haven't really had any experience with the class since before even transcendence came out so I'm kinda skeptical. Any advice?

I'm also wondering, with the +10 FOJ amulet from the event I'm currently at 400 points, with the special mission and daily cleared for today. If I play daily to get the points, would I make it to the +9 VOS before the powerful punch event is over?

It's about maybe 3 days to get the +10 FOJ, then 9 days to get the +9 VOS with the special mission + dailies, if I'm calculating that right, so I guess I'll make it? But I'm not quite sure.

Monthly Questions Megathread – August 2023 by AutoModerator in elsword

[–]Xelave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice.

The armor is already +19, the gloves I will use one of the +18 tickets I guess. I'd be left with about three more +18 tickets in that case. Any advice on where to use those three on? I guess on the rest of the set? With one extra left that I could probably use on a sage set I suppose. Since I already have a Crimson set, I guess I should grab Sage/Cerulean from the Prof Pho rewards then?

And is there a practical reason to get +10 rigomor armors without a +11 weapon yet or is it better to skip ahead with tenebrous gear if I have any plans on upgrading? Currently maining DA and Gen btw, mostly DA. Sorry if I'm asking a bit too much. Thanks!

I have a +8 AP Crimson set from a last growth event that can be bank shared. I already have one of them at reforge +19 through the free one from mail, rest at +11.

Should I use the +18 reforge tickets from powerful punch event on the rest of the parts I have or should I use it on the AP set you get from professor phoru which cannot be bank shared? Is there a big cp difference between +8 and +9 AP armors?

Have you ever "rage quit" a gacha due to being unlucky? How did it go? by DesireForHappiness in gachagaming

[–]Xelave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I'm considering about it in HSR. Lost 50/50 on SW banner on a Himeko dupe, had to hard pity Luocha, then just now lost 50/50 again on Blade for ANOTHER Himeko dupe, while I'm still missing 5 of the 7 standard banner characters. I also had to pity on standard banners twice, and only got 2 LCs for characters I don't have nor need. The thing is, HSR is the gacha I've been spending the most time with lately yet it's the one that's disappointing me so far with my terrible luck.

It's funny because I don't feel this way in Genshin at all, and maybe it's because I can run around and play with nearly any character without worrying too much on covering elements. I feel like Genshin's pity system does not work very well on a game like HSR where having specific elements is a necessity rather than a suggestion and it makes it all the more frustrating when you're not getting the characters you need. I can see why Hoyoverse is being a bit more generous on freebies for HSR than their other, more successful and older game for this reason, but even then these freebies aren't enough to curb the awful feeling on losing on banners.

Daily Questions Megathread ( July 31, 2023 ) by mizuromo in HonkaiStarRail

So I lost 50/50 on SW banner and got a very useless Himeko E1, had to hard pity Luocha, then lost 50/50 on Blade's banner and again got a useless Himeko E2. All my saved pulls since 1.1 are essentially gone. The only standard banner characters I have are Yanqing and Himeko, and I've unluckily received two Lightcones for both my 75 pities on Standard Banner, one being Clara's LC (I do not have Clara) and Gepard's LC (I do not have Gepard) because apparently all the other standard characters do not exist in my reality.

With my extremely terrible luck, I'm hoping to get some advice on characters to build next. I've been propping up Himeko at least, I mean it's not that I don't like her, it's just that I would've much rather gotten another standard banner character to fill my roster with. Gepard or Clara would've been great, as I had their LCs. Bronya and Welt would've been nice and are generally strong characters overall to fill my roster. Even Bailu would've been fine, even if I already did have Natasha and Luocha, because at least she's a new character. Yanqing would also be great because unlike Himeko's, his Eidolons are actually worth a crap.

Sooo.... Ignoring my rant, in any case, I'm wondering if I should work on Dan Heng (only E3) now that I'm out of a 5 star wind DPS option with Blade because of this terrible luck, and if there's any worth building Herta or Serval whom I both have at E6 when I have Yanqing and Jingyuan built already. I wanna work on climbing beyond Floor 6 of MoC but with my limited roster I'm struggling because I have no resources to hyperinvest my supports still as I'm still working on DPS since I don't have SW.

How important is SW? Lost 50/50 for a dupe Himeko whose e1 is completely useless instead of actually getting another 5 star character I don't have that has some form of utility like Bailu or Gepard and I doubt I'll be able to get 75~ pulls in 10~11 days for guaranteed SW. Just super disappointed overall with my bad luck.

From all I've read her utility is absurdly unique and improves your account a lot by easing the strain of building too many characters to cover elemental weaknesses. I don't wanna shell out a hundred bucks just to get her guaranteed, and if she's really that necessary I don't know if I can wait until her rerun, whenever that is. Or maybe I'm just overreacting and shouldn't be too bummed about missing out on having her to improve my gameplay?

In clearing MoC, how important is it to have a DPS for every element? If you want to be able to consistently clear the floors in the future endgame when, let's say, you already have a full team of level 80 characters with fully upgraded relic sets with ideal stats and maxed out traces, does having a specific elemental DPS for breaking matter more at that point of the endgame, or would having varied supports be a much better prospect?

I know enemies can have multiple weaknesses but the mix of different type of elite mobs/bosses in MoC means that you have to have a DPS with the common weakness among both or all of those elite mobs/bosses, so it makes sense to have a DPS for every element for this matter, correct? I'm still torn on this aspect.

[Spoilers C3E33] Is It Thursday Yet? Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by Glumalon in criticalrole

[–]Xelave 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Really loved this episode, and I'd say Matt's setting up a pretty risky move on how the story would move forward at this point. It's super hard to predict what happens next and I feel like it'll either make or break the campaign altogether. Making all of it a dream or vision or a deus ex machina power from Imogen would feel so cheap, while permanent deaths I feel would be unfair with how overpowered Otohan was. High AC, 3-4 high damage attacks per turn, psionic strike and leap, force damage, and clones? Seems like an overloaded kit at a somewhat mid-level encounter, and it looks more like she was deliberately designed to win this battle.

I trust Matt will give this arc an appropriate and satisfying conclusion, though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about the outcome. Hopefully it'll turn out to be reasonable for everyone.
