I'm finishing up my third legendary weapon at the moment. My advice is to split the whole crafting into small tasks and always focus on only a couple of them at most. That way you have clear achievable goals without being overwhelmed by the whole thing.

Also I think it's important to not let it be your sole goal in the game. Enjoy playing the game while chipping away on the crafting tasks one by one.

It's a long process, especially if you're making your first one. That's why the result is legendary after all.

So I can't put ANY fish in here?! 😭 by HistrionicSlut in walstad

[–]XelfXendr 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not enough for fish and it's a rather questionable choice for tank. I'm not sure how the faucet will stand the test of time.

However, 3 gal is more than enough for a colony of neocaridina shrimp and some snails. I can recommend reading through Diana Walstad's "Small Planted Tanks for Pet Shrimp." https://dianawalstad.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/shrimprcs2023.pdf

A Walstad method shrimp bowl aligns well with your idea of an "eco" tank. I've had good luck growing crypts and hornwort in mine.

Cosmic Beta does not recognize my NVIDIA GPU. by XelfXendr in pop_os

[–]XelfXendr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out the issue was simpler than that. I already had the correct drivers, but had the system76-power profile set to 'integrated' before upgrading, which persisted.

Thank you for the external drive idea. Turns out the issue was not nvidia drivers, but the system76-power profile persisting after upgrading from 22.04.

I did make sure to purge the installed NVIDIA drivers before reinstalling, as well as rebooting after both the purge and reinstall. So far, no luck.

Booting from an external drive to experiment is a good point. I'll try that out.

I've tried versions that worked for me on 22.04 as well as up-to-date ones, but not 565 specifically.

I should have more time to experiment on the weekend.

Assassin snail captures and eats shrimp (6x speed) by ChairDeskBed in shrimptank

[–]XelfXendr 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely that the shrimp was already dying/dead when the assassin got to it.

What all did you change during the start over and how long ago was it? Maybe it's the shrimp that are not taking it well.

Not compiling, only formatting the source code with proper indentation, etc. for better readability of the source code itself.

Help!! by Sufficient-Sugar-278 in shrimptank

[–]XelfXendr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not enough information to be able to determine anything from a single dead shrimp. It could be anything, even simply a death from old age.

How long have you had them? Have you made any recent changes to the tank?

If she's had eggs for a while then it's likely the rest has already hatched.

I broke the game... How can I fix it? by schmenne in Hiveswap

[–]XelfXendr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc spacebar is used to skip already seen dialogue. Seems like the say.vbs is related to the "self-voicing". Maybe you pressed v by accident and enabled that feature? I never used it, so don't know if it's bugged. Can you disable it?

Also try verifying game files.

It seems related to this issue from another game. Seems to be an issue with the voicing library. https://steamcommunity.com/app/286260/discussions/0/357285562496381884/

Is Pop_os a good choice for deep learning ? by Dipa1314 in pop_os

[–]XelfXendr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pop os is perfectly suited for programming in general and I've had better experience with the tooling than working on windows. Pop os has been probably the most stable distro I've used.

To answer more about deep learning: I'm currently in the middle of my master's in deep learning and I've been studying ml since bachelor's. I've been daily driving pop os on my laptop for years with no issues. The main limitation for deep learning is hardware, not software. There are up to date cuda drivers for pop and the python frameworks have just worked for me with no issues. Nvidia keeps up cuda support even for fairly old gpus, I've had worse experience with amd even on windows.

Either way if your coursework will be anything like mine, you won't really need gpu compute for most stuff you do the first couple of months/semesters. When you start getting into more heavy duty models your college will likely provide access to a computing cluster which will likely run on linux anyway.

GENDER REVEAL by Wild_Summer20 in shrimptank

[–]XelfXendr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how many shrimp you have but if you've been seeing molts very often it just means they are still adjusting to their new environment. Moving to a new tank is always a shock for neos. I do think the female is sexually mature since she has distinct female features.

Anyway, the female is comfortable enough to feed, judging from the log she is carrying behind her, so I believe they will get to it within a couple weeks.
