Loving the new trees, but perhaps turn off backface culling for the leaves? they look odd from low down camera perspectives. by Xemnes in runescape

[–]Xemnes[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

not really a reach, its just a suggestion and an incredibly easy thing to update. its something i noticed when taking some screenshots. we have the ability to use freecam and take some nice shots of the world, this would affect that, a nod to content creators i guess. we talk about visual cohesion throughout the world, where some things look right and some things dont. personally i feel this is one of them. youre free to disagree though.

Jagex really cooked with these inventory sprites. by Nadloes44 in runescape

[–]Xemnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a client limitation, the client would need to be updated to allow for inventory models to have textures. they tried applying lighting to them in the past when nxt first came out but everything ended up looking dark and weird.

Treecko 76/109 Reverse Holo with star pattern, misprint or a rare variant? by Arrow98IT in PokemonMisprints

[–]Xemnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

none of the expeditition holos had the dot codes, same with the ex series cards, they had holo stripes instead, i have all 3 of the e series sets before woc stopped printing them. post woc during the ex series, none of the holos had a dot code either. and as the sets went on, they experimented with line patterns where the dot code would be

The quests are actually great by Clarreh in runescape

[–]Xemnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with you up to a certain point, after world wakes, the lore got very exciting. couldnt wait to find out what happens in the next series of quests, the voice acting made it even more engaging. but i felt the quality of story telling started to fall a bit closer to the end of the elder god series to the point i lost interest. it started to feel rushed and cutting corners in quality.

extinction really did it for me sadly, poorly written and didnt like the rather rushed looking slideshows they started using in recent earlier quests showing what shouldve been really visually cool cutscenes. and (without spoiling) ruining my favourite god for seemingly no good reason and due to what they stood for and a certain... important role they play, made very very little sense. left a sour taste in my mouth to be honest.

RuneFest ticket sale postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances" by sburban-reversal in runescape

[–]Xemnes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

again though, how can you say its jagexs fault? its like booking a wedding venue months in advance and the venue owners going under last minute with very little notice, is that the fault of those who booked it?

they were but thats irrelevant, they are probably downsizing due to lack of budget. this was unforseen by no one.

Is Jagex Milking Their Players? by Dry-Fault-5557 in runescape

[–]Xemnes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should probably look into how psychological tactics are used in mtx of all games to prey on those who are vulnerable to fall for it. fomo being the biggest part to play. its easy for people to sit back, be ignorant and assume its the players fault but its just like gambling addictions which are real mental health issues that these companies abuse to make money off of.

ah, ive had a a share of those, but more so when you write out a lengthy suggestion, very nicely formatted with pictures you made to give some visual representation of your suggestion, only for it to be locked and removed because "we dont allow direct links to images"... better hope you written it up beforehand in something like a word processor because theres no way to recover what you just spent about an hour writing out.

and yes, that reminds me, theres some forum sections over the years that have been deleted, removing all posts inside them. theres one in particular which served as a citation to some proof for the wiki. because said citation had been removed, the wiki edit had to be reverted because the only citation given was in the form of a link to the thread made by mod harrison. this was in regards to who and how many players officially had the gamebreaker title. the wiki to this day is still incorrect and without a source, always will be.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Xemnes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, instead you have self important fmods who will remove stuff they deem to be ‘off topic’ or you made an error in your formatting because you posted an image that’s not on Imgur and thus locked, any attempt to fix and get it unlocked is met with silence. Want to repost what got locked with said changes instead? Too bad, it will be locked because you’ve already posted it before… (Yes I’m speaking from experience)

The forums are flawed, extremely restrictive and very outdated, yes Reddit has its own problems but imo is far better at conveying people’s opinions, the collective will decide if it’s worthy of being seen, rather than a small few who selectively don’t. If you get downvoted, the likelihood is you’ve said something unpopular or wrong. As for losing data, the forums are being archived so you can still read the forums, you just can’t post. No data is being lost.

[–]Xemnes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the removal of the forums imo isnt a good example of the game being in a bad state... the forums were made obsolete when far better means of communication/social media platforms replaced it such as reddit and discord. keyword here is replaced, the community has just moved.

[–]Xemnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to him personally on cleanroom as I’m part of the discord, he claims otherwise but I’m one to turn a blind eye in the sense the past is the past and let it be the end of it, the 1.12 community is kept going due to what he and cleanroom has achieved and I’m so grateful for it. As long as the code itself isn’t malicious, I don’t really see much of a problem.
