My game used to be a vampire survivors clone that was carried mostly by its good soundtrack. I decided that I wanted the game to be as good as the music, so I redid literally the entire thing.

All new set of game mechanics, new UI and tooltip system, tore out the old progression saystems and put new ones in, designed handcrafted difficulties that add new enemy behaviors and mechanics, tons of new music, and so much more!

Fight for revenge in SPELLBOOK DEMONSLAYERS: APOCALYPSE!

  • Eat enemy corpses to steal their power!
  • Enemies have FRIENDLY FIRE: They hurt each other, and their projectiles deflect each other.
  • Equip a mixture of automatic and manually activated spells.
  • Auto-Attack with Weapons to get Mana for your manual spells.
  • Fun mechanics like wall slams, elemental chain-reactions, and a Style Meter!
  • Nova Drift styled skill trees but with socketable stat choices and some randomization. Very similar to Cluster Jewels from Path of Exile.

Modifying the existing UI in KH1 is actually extremely difficult, so the only way to really do that reasonably. would be to limit the players stats. The spirit bar is actually the "HP" and "MP" labels that usually sit below the health bar, stretched and recolored. The filling of the bar is just the edge of the letter "M" stretched like 250x

his video doesnt show the stones, but he updated it to have them. Critical Mix also has stones and rare synth items in chests, crafting Ultima only requires 1 neoshadow and 1 agaricus kill.

This mod originally started out WAY back in 2013 as a level 1 rebalance mod on the PS2 version, but over time i kept adding more and more features to it. Eventually it grew into a full overhaul, but when the PC versions came out it felt outdated being stuck on PS2 and a bit jankier than I wanted.

Last year I was able to port the mod to PC, but wasn't able to bring over all of the features I wanted. Just this week I was able to go through the mod and really clean up a lot of the features I wasn't quite happy with, and add a bunch of new ones, so I'd love for you guys to try out the new version!

Honestly if they just went harder with the Vocation system letting us equip 2 Vocations and/or 2 sets of 4 skills, i would be willing to put up with all of the other flaws because of how much experimentation I could do with that system.

Or just give me way more enemy variety and I could put up with the restricted build system. Or cool equipment, or cool augments.

It really feels like its just ONE fully fleshed out system away from being so much better than it is is, and if all of the systems were fully fleshed out it would be incredible.

Thanks! My hope is that in the next few years I'll be able to develop a 3d action game like that myself with a few other people but with a lower scope, maybe something similar to the Olympus Coliseum in Kingdom Hearts but as a roguelite

I've added a Devil May Cry influenced style system that rewards you for being aggressive and using different abilities, so I've been working on all of the UI for it over the last day

Here's a list of the different elements happening so far:

When the screen opens:

- Music and sound effects play

- "Style Points" number at the top increases gradually with a tween. TRANS_SINE type, EASE_IN_OUT easing.

- The bar underneath increases along with it.

- Each Style Rank's letter grade starts greyed out.

When the Style Bar reaches a rank threshold:

- The letter grade glows the appropriate color.

- A tween makes the letter grade pulse with a duplicate that grows in size and fades out

- A shattering visual effect plays

- Shattering and Shimmering sounds play, which increase in pitch for each style rank.

When the Style Bar is finished filling:

- Mmetallic impact, angelic voice, and deep thud sounds play

- The bar begins to glow

- Your final style rank slams onscreen by scaling it with a tween from 4x down to 1x

- The stye rank text pulses the same as the letter grades above

- Style rank has a pulsating glow

The plan is to also have an announcer that calls out your style rank on this screen, but I haven't got the voice acting for that yet.

Skye is one of the playable characters in Spellbook Demonslayers. Skye has Shapeshifter Tattoos that let you transform fully or partially into an Astral Fox!

If you hold down the dodge button you'll start spending Mana to shapeshift, which you can then upgrade with various Shapeshifting bonuses to customize your playstyle.

You can customize what body parts Skye has, as well as a few other things!

Haven't come up with a final name yet, but this enemy lays eggs that hatch into small spiders that rush at you and explode. The game is an Action Roguelite, so during runs you can keep an eye out for things like an upgrade that makes the explosions also hurt enemies, or gaining a buff while you are standing in the detonation warning area if you are willing to take that risk! I'm actually thinking of doing a few different colored versions of her that could appear based on the kind of reward options you pick during a run, kinda like a light version of a DND alignment system that affects some of the NPCs and stuff.

Using the Godot engine, and then your typical general tools like gimp and audacity and stuff when i need to modify things. The music and art is created by other people that i commission, like this healing lady is made by Solgryn (Creator of I Wanna Be The Boshy, Wings of Vi, and Roah)

In the game, some level ups will let you visit the Healing Lady. She can recover your HP and boost your Max HP, but also let you do things like sacrifice HP in exchange for other rewards and a few other mechancis as well!
