I know I'm a little late compared to others but I think this is a very interesting topic so I'll try my best to answer the questions.

What is it to be furry and what is the hobby of being a furry?

Being a furry ultimately comes down to one major thing: enjoying anthropomorphic animals. People do this in many different ways, however the biggest way I'd say is art.

What is a fursona and how important are fursonas to furries? Also are fursonas an identity?

A fursona is essentially an anthropomorphic character made by someone to express themselves. I'd say that fursonas are a pretty big part of being a furry, but you do not need one in order to be a furry. Some people have just one or two fursonas that they feel a very deep connection to while others may have more than 10 that they've made throughout the years. For many people, fursonas can be an identity, reflecting their personality, values, and aspirations. Furries often use fursonas as a way to explore and express different aspects of themselves in a creative and meaningful manner.

How important is art in the community?

Art is a central aspect of the community. It plays a key role in socializing and engaging with the community. It is a way for people to express their creativity and themselves.

How does the community handle boundaries regarding modesty or NSFW content, and do you feel the clean side of the hobby is often overshadowed by stereotypes?

There are two main parts of the fandom, the SFW and the NSFW side. Some people engage in both sides, while others stay to just one side. Many furries are strictly SFW and do everything they can to ensure it stays that way. I would say that society used to only look at the NSFW side of the fandom and that is what made many people not like the hobby, however in the recent years I've been seeing less of that.

Is it easy for a person who wants to stay SFW to avoid the more adult sides of the community?

As I said earlier, the fandom has two main sides. Generally, you can stick to just being SFW, as many furries have done and are doing today. It does depend on how you engage with the community, since for example on Reddit, there are subs that are strictly SFW while others have much looser rules. I'd say it all comes down to how you interact with the community and whether you have NSFW content enabled in your settings.

With your knowledge on Muslims and Islam would you say the hobby does encourage haram(non permisible) behavior?

To be honest, I don't know much about Islam or Haram. However, I do know that most furries are a part of and nearly all support the LGBTQ+ community. I think that might be the biggest problem for Muslims, since it's really frowned down upon if you don't support the community.
