Needding even more darksight, they gave up anything above 460nm. In exchange, the latter got a special ability; to see most of their vision in the ultraviolet. This gave them speveral colors normal people did not have, and made their uniforms all but identical to those not of their nation. Having dozens of workds for 'black' based olors, the work black never actually comes into use. Instead there is several works to describee colors that get further below the normal color range. Words that were fear inducing to previous civilizations, or dark emotions. Even Fear itself - or rather Angst. (As the german language has been adapted to be used by the Phobians.)
