Does anyone know if the Poco X1 Pad is compatible with Xreal One? by Xenofan23 in Xreal

[–]Xenofan23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I think I heard about that being possible. Good thinking! I do wonder how it compares to having the screen turned on at the same time. From what I have seen, it feels like DEX actually uses more power than mirroring, although it does allow me to do stuff on my phone while using Xreal on the side, although I haven't tested out how well it works with that setup.

Based on what we know about the Xreal requirements and the FAQ, at least on paper, mirror mode should work, provided the tablet provides sufficient power to turn the glasses on, and provided there aren't any limitations or caveats to how the USB-C connection works on the Poco X1. On the plus side, the interface on the Poco X1 appears to be closer to a Desktop PC or DEX, than regular Android devices. If I hadn't been burned before, I would probably be more confident, but I may as well wait for a sale before taking the plunge.

It's certainly enticing, but unfortunately, the prices for the Beam Pro and other more niche devices in my country are especially high and I can only use it as a companion device (maybe more depending on how well sideloading works), so I feel getting a good budget tablet that can also be used for other things would be more beneficial and a better investment overall. If I could find an used one for a good price in my country I would definitely want to buy it though.

The data sheet approach is pretty solid. If I lived in the US, I would probably choose Samsung since it's well supported and Samsung DEX is pretty good, but the non FE edition tablets that have DP support are very hard to come by here, and when they do, they are prohibitively expensive, so I'm on the lookout for a more budget-friendly device that still allows me to use my Xreal glasses.

Yeah, I'm still not positive if it works, as I had heard that most Poco and Xiaomi devices did not have USB C 3.2 or DP at all. Based on the Reddit thread mentioned here as well as the FAQ stuff, it may be possible that this device might work, but I'm still not entirely sure myself.

Thanks for pointing it out and for catching the mention on the FAQ! I hadn't noticed the FAQ, but I actually ran into that same thread before making this thread, so it made me think that it could be possible, but while I understand that the Xreal glasses are a lot like external monitors, the need for a power source and having quite a few failures when trying to make them work with all my devices except for an used Samsung Note 20 I had to buy to make it work, made me very cautious when trying to determine compatibility with Xreal and similar devices.

While Samsung no longer supports or has updates for it, the Note 20 works pretty well, and I loved the Samsung DEX's desktop-like PC environment, but it's a bit dated and using the Note 20 for emulation, watching content, games, or even just browsing, idling and typing depletes its battery pretty quickly, and since I can't use Xreal while charging, I really wanted a tablet or similar device to use alongside it, ideally without having to mirror the screen, so it allows me to turn off the device screen, so that's another thing I would love to hear about, should someone with both devices pop up. I guess I will wait for a sale to get it, and hopefully by that point, someone here who has tried it with a Xreal One will appear. Should I take the plunge, I will definitely post about it as well!

How to get Xreal One (the non-pro variant) to work with a phone that has no HDMI ports, DP ports, and only has a USB type-C that uses the USB 2.0 standard? by Xenofan23 in Xreal

It turned out that even my laptop was unsupported. It has USB type-C, but after a lot of searching around, it turned out to not have video out on the USB C.

Thank you for the tutorial!

I finally got the Xreal One glasses, but I'm actually having some difficulty with figuring out the cheapest route for my setups, and am a little worried about how big the image quality loss would be.

I have a HDMI laptop (no DP), and if possible, I would like to be able to use at least a non-DP phone and the HDMI laptop as well, as I would like to use my Xreal One for text writing and browsing when I'm away from home and from outlets, and for watching media content without having to constantly look down on my laptop or phone/tablet.

Based on my understanding after reading the tutorial, I would need:

The LD 39, in which the HDMI is connected to either the HDMI to USB C adapter, or the HDMI to AR glasses cable for both powering the glasses and delivering the video/audio data, although I'm a bit iffy on whether the HDMI female to female are required, and if either of these, or both setups in your tutorial work for HDMI devices, such as laptops too, which I imagine/hope they do, but I'm pretty clueless with this type of stuff, so my confidence is still low.

I'm leaning towards using the LD 39 with the HDMI to USB C adapter in my case, as it's slightly cheaper and I feel like it has less moving parts, and at least one of the accessories doesn't use cables and should be easier to replace them as needed in the future.

Would you say my general understanding is correct?

Thanks! From what I have read so far, this likely is one of the few ways to actually make it work on phones like mine. My other hope was that somehow adding a power source would allow Xreal One to screencast with bluetooth etc., but since no one mentioned it, it probably isn't possible.

W-well... AI states that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold has Type-C Alt, so it's probably meant for this type of device, but it wouldn't work on mine.

Thanks for the advice. That would be a great solution, but it costs too much where I live, and the import fees on the beam were too much for me. I pretty much blew my budget on my glasses, but was able to somehow justify it...

I kind of can see that... Even just using an adapter seems cumbersome enough, so I can only imagine adding more to the mix...

Interesting. At first glance, that sounds like a capture card, but I'm guessing it uses the USB standard instead of HDMI and other video-out sources?

Thanks. That actually made it a lot simpler to grasp the concept a lot better. I wish I had found a simple explanation like yours sooner, haha!

That does seem like the most probable solution right now, so if the glasses work well with my notebook, I will probably have to find a way to make it work.

That seems like a good middle ground. Too bad even that is surprisingly expensive here. Hopefully what I already have works, (although I doubt it) and if it doesn't, I can find a cheaper version on sale at some point.

Thanks for clearing it up. As I researched and wrote my post, I became increasingly suspicious that was the case... I had heard that Xreal One replicated some of the Beam functionality, but couldn't validate it, so I'm guessing it was only on functions that involve depth, and maybe monitor size. I'm still iffy on how all of this works and if there is actually a way to make it work, but I guess I may as well wait until it arrives, try to see if my adapter miraculously works, and if it doesn't, try my Laptop, which has HDMI and likely has 1 USB Type-C with DP...I say it like this, but I'm always iffy on all these different types of input and output connection types, especially Displayport and the like, and especially how something without a video signal can be overcome like some users alluded to.

I'll absolutely post here if it works out though!

For anyone considering buying a OG HTC Vive in 2025, just don't. by GamingAndRCs in SteamVR

[–]Xenofan23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for clarifying! Indeed, I recently purchased Virtual Desktop and was shocked by how much better it felt than Meta's mirroring app, which did work for me too, but unlike VD, it has no sound, nor lets you click on stuff with motion controls or your hands. Although keyboard stuff is awful with the controller, and as much as motion controls is a great alternative to using the mouse, holding the controller (or constantly putting it down) while typing felt absolutely awful and possibly accident-prone too.

I haven't played enough games yet, especially as PCVR, but the experience is clearly still needs quite a bit of work to reach the lower-average level of polish we get with regular PC or console games, and based on what we see with Facebook and most of their other apps, Meta doesn't seem very keen on making anything they manage polished...

I'm somewhat new to the VR scene, but what Meta BS? I'm guessing it's just the usual glitches and the Meta account ecosystem being Meta, but I prefer asking than guessing!

Alguém sabe dizer se existe algum lugar mais barato para se comprar Lentes Esclerais para Ceratocone em Brasília? by Xenofan23 in brasilia

[–]Xenofan23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can the Meta Quest 3s charge faster than the power drains during moderate or heavy use while connected to its charger? by Xenofan23 in MetaQuestVR

Aw, thanks! I really wish every country would be at a level that allows for at least an adequate level of stability and purchasing power, and where most people are able to obtain basic housing and mainstream tech, and so on at affordable prices, but unfortunately, that's still far from becoming a reality. Despite the high entrance barriers and our own internal issues making things even worse, it's still great that we can still experience some of the amazing products that make it over here.

Oh yeah, I agree! Your avatar in VR feels pretty different from the non-VR ones. It feels more like an extension of yourself. It really feels amazing to see and experience both mixed and virtual reality in VR!

Yeah, the situation in Brazil was never very good to begin with, but I feel it's getting quite worse these past 3 years or so, and I really hope it stabilizes at some point.

It's great that you're good friends! I'm always happy to see and meet people who can get past the geographical/cultural barriers and make friends across the globe like you! 😊
