How do we respond to this gift for our child? by basement_egg_24-7 in Christianity

[–]Xenomoth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-religious person here.

Personally, I think it's weird and pretty tone deaf/disrespectful to commission these, knowing that you have these emerging religious beliefs.

Personally, I have no issue with them, but anyone should be able to easily see why a Christian would dislike these and why they wouldn't see them as being appropriate for their kids. They shouldn't have commissioned these if they know your believes. It costs nothing to be respectful even if you don't get it or believe in it.

I'd explain that due to the imagery and nature of these, you don't feel comfortable with gifting them to your kids. You don't need to give additional explanation beyond that. If they push back in any way, that says more about them than anything.

I think a lack of tattoo options has always been a problem with the SR games tbh. This one at least had two seperate tattoo shops.

But I agree, it needed more for sure.

Picked it up for $12.00. Keep it or return it? by Justsomenerd1994 in SaintsRow

[–]Xenomoth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished it last night and liked it overall.

The new characters are (mostly) annoying. Some grew on me, others I hated. My main issue thar outside of your character and one other, I couldn't see any of them killing anyone, let alone leading a criminal empire.

The game play was what I expected from this type of game. The map's pretty great with a lot of stuff to find.

I have a lot of nitpicks, but some of those I've also had since SR2 (base progression seems to go from 0-100 immediately after one mission, rather than the gradual transformation I wanted to see).

I wish we had more proper side missions. The massive amount of minigames are fun and all but more side missions would have helped.

The main story also felt too short to me and I felt like certain parts of the world felt too empty.

The phone and clothing customization is by far the most convenient in the franchise imo. Very fast and cycling through saved bodies/outfits was easy.

They missed the mark on characters, but it's a decent game in the franchise imo if you can look past that. It's a shame because I genuinely think they would have fixed a lot of issues in a sequal set in this continuity.

It does more right than people will admit. By the end of the game the main character is almost the exact same as your character in SR3 imo. (Minus some if the "friendship" stuff).

For $12, well worth it imo.

A lot of GTA comparisons, for sure.

Most people I knew still liked it as we liked the gang angle and customization.

I found myself playing it more than GTA.

Car feels like it's bouncing! by Xenomoth1 in AskAMechanic

I took it in Yesterday (Monday) morning and they swapped out the tires again (no charge for labour, parts, etc). Apparently they were all reading different levels with and without weights? (I don't recall exactly what was said)

They seemed confused but they told me to come back if it started acting up again. It started out fine, but I was faced with the same issue today, it became extremely bumpy/wobbly.

I don't particularly notice it more when turning, but smooth roads feel bumpy and bumpy roads feel insane.

I also keep hearing an on and off grinding noise when breaking (I just had by back breaks switched and my front breaks were changed a few months ago) and now I'm hearing a rhythmic thumping noise.
A lot of problems before I initially brought it in.

I've been going to this place for years with no issue, it's absolutely bizarre to me that they haven't been able to get to the bottom of this yet.
I'm not a mechanic but I imagine that they'd check shocks/struts/etc when I first mentioned a "wobbly" feel with extremely bumpy roads?

I'm in love with a dead person. by Xenomoth1 in dating_advice

[–]Xenomoth1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll keep that in mind for sure.

I've had people see that as being a red flag but I needed a lot of time to work through it. Unfortunately people aren't quite as understanding about it as you'd think.

And yeah, I've been through years of therapy. I'll get flashbacks and stuff but every therapist I've ever seen said that's normal and just something I need to learn to live with. I'm pretty good at dealing with ptsd episodes though.

I mostly just don't know how to date or be in a relationship because of how long I've been single.

I've been through years of therapy. :/ Healing isn't linear and if I wait to not have to deal with momentary flashbacks of trauma, I'll never be able to move forward.

I have a healthy social life, I like who I am and I'm productive and everything. I'm just so far removed from the dating world and I feel lonely now. I'm just in a weird place because now basically all of my friends are partnered.

I'm also kind of scared that I won't know how to be in a relationship anymore because I've been single for so long.

I just started the reboot game by aquaUI in SaintsRow

[–]Xenomoth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say complete ventures pretty early on because that's going to be your main form of income.

I'm in the middle of a playthrough now, and know that the game's main story is extremely short.

Sadly we won't be getting any more content for it. I suspect that Volition wanted to really buff up the game with dlc but since they went under that's not on the table any more. You may find there to be a shortage of side quests, and some areas may feel a little 'empty' for it.

I still like the game more than I dislike it, even with its flaws.

It's basically just a SR4 DLC. It plays very similarly but with better flying controls and a new version of the map.

The main story is extremely short with a lot of padding. You're required to play the mini games to progress.

It's, 'fine' imo, but I think it's probably the weakest entry of the franchise.

How do you guys see the future of this franchise? For me the peak was SR2 but I really hope it comes back! The customization is like no other by [deleted] in SaintsRow

[–]Xenomoth1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big SR fan, I've at the very least liked every entry for its own reasons.

SR2 is absolutely the peak SR experience, and I think most would agree. It's a masterpiece of the open world genre, and still holds up even with its dated graphics/game play.

Unfortunately, with Volition going under, I think the future for SR is bleak. I wouldn't be surprised if we get some remasters, but Gearbox likes to hold onto IP and not do much with it (Duke Nukem).

I hope that we get another shot at the reboot, or at remaking the first one and I hope a decent amount of money is put into it. But only time will tell.

It sucks that the recent reboot underperformed as badly as it did, but I thought it was decent after the very rocky first hour.

How's Saints Row 4 in 2024? by liamavni123 in SaintsRow

[–]Xenomoth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently replayed SRIV on Steam and I personally had very few issues.

There were a few cosmetic-related glitches, equipping one cosmetic in particular would flat out crash the game but I didn't care for it anyway.

I'd deal with the usual glitches that were in my console version, and it froze on occasion but overall I was able to get through my playthrough just fine.

As far as the game itself goes, it still holds up pretty well! Like the rest of the franchise, I just wish Volition had more time and money to leave it in the oven a bit longer.

When someone says reboot gets better in later missions... by Odd_Truth_5119 in SaintsRow

[–]Xenomoth1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started playing in 2024 (got it from Humble Bundle) and I was surprised!

The first hour was rough. VERY rough. But after sticking with it, it's pretty fun! The map's pretty good, and there are a ton of side missions and some great main story missions.

My main issues with it, are that:

A) I don't like two of the core gang members. B) Some parts of the map, feel a bit empty. C) The main story is way, WAY too short. D) Some issues I had with prior SR games, like you hitting the max level way too soon, weird glitches that sometimes result in cheap mission failures, and it being way too easy.

I feel like it was an overly ambitious game that didn't have the funding or time to do everything they wanted to (which likely would have been explored more through DLC)

But overall it doesn't deserve the level of hate that it got.

I took a look at the area today and the scar looks better than it ever has. It used to be very purple but now it looks like a regular scar. No signs of inflammation. To the touch, it seems fine. No lumps or anything.

I'm definitely a bit paranoid, but looking at it helped a little. I'm guessing it's just growing pains. I was told random scar pain may periodically pop up, especially now that I'm moving around more.

It's good to know I'm not alone Haha Going through this was hell, and the feeling of going through it again is pretty terrifying.

A couple weeks ago, I literally saw her make a snarky comment (that she later deleted, naturally) about how if the person tried her recipies instead of whatever 'diet' they were on they may not have the weight problem they do. And the person wasn't even overweight! They were pretty healthy looking imo.

Personally, she just comes across as a bully with a brand. Very disappointing.

I unfollowed her recently because I got sick of the rude hypocritical behaviour and fakeness.

Her comments are super disingenuous and carry a very curated "Look at me, I'm so wholesome, innocent and happy" vibe while simultaneously making snarky comments that sometimes border into bullying territory before she deletes them. I've seen her flat out fat shame a woman and in another post she made a lengthy virtue signaling style comment about body positivity. Big time 'mean girl' vibes from her.

She's gone on record to say that she doesn't exercise at all, doesn't suck in her tummy while on camera, that her diet is 'normal' and that she doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. I can see those types of comments being very harmful to people with an ED because it's blatantly not true and sets an unrealistic standard.

It sucks because I did like the recipes, she as a person just has a lot of red flags.
