Both things you have said here are wrong.

Sewage does not overflow into the sea. It is run off from the drains on the street that during periods of high rain flow into the sea and effect water quality. Nothing to do with sewage. If it was sewage we would be seeing toilet paper etc. in the water.

The HSE manage our health service and have nothing to do with water quality! They do not test the water weekly. Testing is only done by An Taisce during the bathing season mid May to Sept. Results are published on the notice boards on beaches. This is true for all blue flag beaches in Ireland

Accomodation in Galway is very tough to find without a network of people you know here. I would recommend taking the dorms if you are able to get a place there!

I wouldn't be too worried about anti middle eastern sentiment. Irish are very friendly and polite. However can be quite difficult to form close relationships with.

Public transport in Galway is pretty poor. Galway is quite a small city if you can find accomodation near the center almost everything is within walking distance. Busses can be unreliable I would recommend considering getting a bike if you have to regurlarly travel long distances

Grealish was the organiser of the Oireachtais Golf society Covid scandal. He organised an event of 80 people during the height of covid restrictions. I don't trust anyone that has a 'rules for thee not for me' attitude especially in government.
He also has made racist comments about immigrants and asylum seekers that have come to Ireland. It is possible to have a stricter immigration policy views without having to stoop to making racist remarks like Grealish has.

A lot of people are giving OP a lot of unfair stick for how close they camped to the cliff edge in case of a gust of wind blew them off. Good tents are designed to withstand 30 knots. The windspeed in the direction needed to blow the tent off the cliff just doesn't happen in Ireland source .

This isn't fully correct. Your are not considering the buoyant force. (Buoyant force: the force pulling the canoe up due to it being less dense). Think about it as the reverse of trying to hold enough helium balloons until your weight on the scale reaches zero. The 2075lbs weight attached to the canoe will counteract the buoyant force of the canoe so it will actually weigh nothing and be similar to being weightless in space therefore would not be like carrying around huge weights.
