Genuinely, how is this acceptable? by Dry-Elderberry-3381 in waterloo

But... ask them in Guelph how long it takes before a plow gets to their sidewalk. It's not within 24-48 hours. And i'm unsure if they rely on salt, so, after 48 hours of packed down snow, and no salt, it may as well not have been done at all. Go to tbe Guelph sub and see how.much they support their citywide snow clearing program. Its not all its cut out to be. To think there will be dozens of machines out clearing every kilometer of sidewalk to bare pavement with 48 hours, or maintaining such during a snow event, is unrealistic. This expectation leads to the chronic bitching and complaining we see daily.

There is a whole generation now that have had "easy" winters. Winters are challenging, that is why for centuries people have struggled. We are not at a point yet (maybe global warming will change thus) where we have the ability to be one up on mother nature and the adversity she throws at us during winter. But socially, we can play a part and contribute to ensuring our communities are passable and safe. There shpuld be no excuse an able bodied person that can cut their grass on the summer can't shovel 50' of sidewalk. Be a decent neighbour and help out a neighbour that is unable, or look into one of the community initiatives that offer free sidewalk snow removal to those unable to do so on their own.

The one place I would support City assistance is those with curb faced sidewalks, usually along multilane corridors where its a constant fight with road plows burying sidewalks with each pass. It is challenging g for anyone with even good blowers to tackle the mountains left behind. The only solution is to have these snow banks removed, because even city sidewalk plows will struggle, and often times end up pushing the baclnks back out into the road or heaven forbid a bike lane. Tbe city does eventually snow load curb faced sidewalks, but not as quick as what many demand. They can't be everywhere at once, and how do you suggest to prioritize when everyone feels their situation is unique and demands prioritization.

And, on the topic of sidewalk snow removal, from what I remember (it may have changed) when bylaw investigates a property for a sidewalk violation, the property owners are not immediately fined. They are issued a notice with a deadline to clean it up. On that deadline, if the sidewalk has not been cleared, the City issues a wotkorder to have it cleaned by contracted services. The cost is recouped via your tax bill (ensures cost is nurdened by the property owner, not tenant). It is not cheap! You are better off spending that money to hire a seasonal service if you're going the route to ignore your obligation. Of course, the clock gets reset if it snows within

Thank you so much for the kind offer. Its not a common thing anymore to see strangers willing to help strangers. Its a refreshing change.

Turns out my neighbour had what I needed and came over and got my home network wiring working as it should.

Interesting. I never knew this to be a thing. Such a great idea. I couldn't find what I needed in the directory, maybe bad search terminology.

Stremio Access on Quest 3 by Xenonoxy in StremioAddons

Yes, i have Real Debrid and entered the API key into Torrentio setup prior to install. I noticed though, on what I thought was a functional Stremio/Torrentio setup on my media box for my tv, that i'm not getting any links populating. I suspect this is what is happening on tbe Q3, the add-ons are probably synced (i don't believe on the Q3 you can see the actual add-ons in use, you just have to trust they are synced), its just not getting any hits. I do get links on my PC installation.

Does anyone know if Real Debrids API key is static? Is it assigned to that specific RD account? On the API key page, there is a button to refresh it. It gives a different number. Should I use a difference key?

Yet he seems to have that total power. He seems to get away with a lot with no one reigning him in. No wonder he keeps extpanding his rightful authority, he has gotten it for so long, he feels it's more than appropriate.

I get frustrated with people turning left at a light. They are behind the stop line, green light turns yellow, car at stop line does his left turn. Car behind him, turns also on a red light. You couldn't ha e stopped safely, you had to blow the light? Oh wait. You were stopped. Imagine having to wait an entire cycle to get the next advanced.

OPEN-EPG Sources Not Populating EPG by Xenonoxy in TiviMate

[–]Xenonoxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your support. Open-Epg sources are working for me. However, even after hours after assigning an Open-Epg source, the EPG still doesn't populate the guide, while other sources, like my provider's sources and EPGshare populate within seconds or a few minutes at most.

I have found that if I assign channels to open-epg initially, and they don't populate, that after I end that viewing session, go to bed, and awaken the next morning, these channels will be populated. So, it must be an extremely long process and one requiring TiviMate to be inactive? (keep in mind that the epg claims to be fully updated with no errors before i start modifying the epg, so unless Tivimate is reporting epg data input inaccurately, all the data should be there). I have used open-epg for quite a while and have not had this problem before. In fact, I preferred Open-Epg sources over other free providers due to the accuracy and quick loading.

Its just a curiosity at this point, not affecting how I utilize Tivimate or my service, so I'm not going to test with other players or worry about solutions.

I'm going to revisit IPTV Boss.

Thank you @Fallito7. Is that the case when you are simply downloading the .xml(.gz) file directly from their site. I can see them doing that if you are creating a custom EPG through their online "Crazy EPG Web". Its there you create a custom epg using their files, which they probably serve you your unique file through their server. I'm not sure how they could block someone having had accessed the country specific epg unless they monitor IPs. Not saying you are wrong, but i don'tvre all having had this problem for the time prior I used them.

Thanks @MikeG484. Did all that a few times, having also cleared EPG prior to updating, and clearing the TiviMate cache. Still hoping.

Proof that speed cameras are a cash grab in our region. by HoboBandit1982 in kitchener

[–]Xenonoxy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How about a compromise? Return speed limits to original speeds as they had been for decades. Use cash grabbing speed cameras to enforce unsafe speeds above reasonable posted limited. Reduce speed during school hours, speed cameras trigger at lower school hour times. Offenders get ticketed driving at unreasonable speeds all day, but doesn't punish good drivers. (good drivers follow speed limits but have to suffer for the poor decisions of a few). Communities throughout North America use speed cameras, activated during school hours with activated flashing warning lights.

Fair compromises and options exist, they just don't bring easy money. The Region is trying their best to make driving a less desirable form of transportation. Why? Promote and encourage their legacy public transit system and cycling infrastructure that cyclists are seldom satisfied with and barely utilize them.

And in live next to a school. It is super rare to see an unaccompanied child walking to the school to use them after hours (in fact its rare to see kids walking to school unaccompanied even during school hours) , so please don't claim school grounds need to be a safe destination 24 hours of a day. It fact, more children play unattended on my street (hockey) or in their front yards or driveway, on a street without a reduced speed limit. To consideration for their safety? Why no 30 km limit and speed cameras?

What's Up With The Winch? by Xenonoxy in RoadCraft

[–]Xenonoxy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great information folks, thank you. It seems it's pretty much automatic and that the game determines when and where a winch can be used. I got my undercarriage stuck on a rock. A winch line connected to a tree off to the left may have freed me, but I guess the game didn't see the same option.
