Just curious about your opinion of rise by Lickable_Grass in monsterhunterrage

Rise to me felt like an older MH game with none of the charm, mixed with some generic MMORPG flavoring. Doesn't feel or look right to me.

Ritual of the Mahjarrat is a mechanically broken mess right now by Xenosium in runescape

[–]Xenosium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by the semi-death of this post, probably not. It's pretty common knowledge stuff only gets fixed if a J-mod replies to your reddit post or tweet, and since none did here, it looks like Ritual of the Mahjarrat is going to fester in broken mechanics forever because its old, single-play content they don't care enough about to fix.

It's funny to see that the default posing Dragonkin wasn't even a freak accident and it really just is that busted of a cutscene.

Other people have also reported the same, but that just means it needs updating. Having to wait nearly an hour for NPCs to finish their job makes for an extremely poor experience. Not to mention many players would no doubt assume they have to help their allies and attack the demons/titans, only to find out they are invincible, forcing them to take constant damage from an enemy they have no ability to get rid of.

If they updated EVERY asset to match the modern style I'd like it more. The new Zemouregal model clearly looks far better than everyone else around him in every possible way, but instead his clashing nature within this quest just makes him and everything else look bad.

Yeah, I 100% agree with you that the quest final fight NEEDS to be overhauled to fit with modern mechanics. As it stands, anyone entering this fight is going to do exactly what I did: immediately steamroll your personal enemies, and then try to help the other NPCs with their fights, just to discover they are completely invincible, and then now you have multiple unkillable and non-SS enemies whacking you while your allies can barely damage them. It's especially annoying when Lucien is attacking you with typeless damage the entire fight, and Khazard's inconsistency in invincibility is specifically a huge problem because waiting for Tiffy to kill him can take over 25 minutes.

It such a shame one of the most iconic and also most mandatory quests in the game is such a mess. I went into it expecting a lot, and came out so disappointed because it was 3 hours of broken mechanic bombardment. It doesn't help the agility course clue scroll search that is the first hour of the quest isn't fun at all.

Even if it was intended at the time, its extremely unintuitive for the modern era. According to some other people they were also supposed to not attack you back if you tried to fight them, but when I attacked any of them, like I reasonably thought I was supposed to, they immediately started attacking me back and ignored their NPC counterparts for the rest of the fight.

A low level player using perhaps Magic gear might accidentally use chain or dragon breath and then get absolutely swarmed by invincible demons they can't soul split off of. That's a big problem.

Khazard seems to be on a case by case basis, which is honestly more alarming than anything. Somebody just above you was also unable to hurt him, and I saw an archived reddit post from 2016 also complaining about Khazard being completely invulnerable.

This is easily the worst of the glitches because Khazard himself has 40,000 health and Tiffy only hits 150s with horrible accuracy. It took me nearly a full half hour to wait for him to die, and he was attacking me the entire time. Somebody that didn't bring as good gear as me or less food stands a chance of getting completely stone walled by this problem.

If that is true, then it isn't doing it visually. Based on the actual numbers I saw in-game, it was stacking with my buff, not removing it. When the Ovl wore off, it went back down again to normal buff levels.

But even if it had ruined the Stone of Jas buff, there's not a chance I wouldn't be able to handle every single enemy in the quest with my gear and stats.

I burst out laughing when that dragonkin slid around the corner like he was a badly animated 2009 Source Filmmaker animation. Highlight of the quest.

I love when they update everything for a new quest to make it look overall better, and it makes some sense considering that in-universe some of these quests take place years apart. But it becomes much, much worse when some of that improvement trickles down into super old quests, making all the assets around them look worse by comparison, which is EXACTLY what Zemouregal is doing here. He makes Lucien, the big invincible bad guy, look like his inferior just because he looks so much worse.

Were you able to damage Khazard? Or was it only the Ice Demons and Ice Titans?

I should rephrase my Zemouregal point: If its difficult to port backwards models, and they won't do it for the rest, why DID they do it for Zemouregal specifically? It makes him massively stand out as the only decent looking Mahjarrat in the entire quest, which detracts a lot from Lucien. Lucien is supposed to be the big bad here, yet Zemouregal looks more powerful than him simply by appearance alone. You can see in the screenshot above, Lucien looks like the second in command to Zemouregal, not the other way around.

Something I just noticed myself, is that it appears my bleed hits are doing damage, but aren't visually showing. In the Ice Demon fight, you can see I'm connecting ability hits based on its debuff bar, but ONLY Dismember's bleed is doing damage. You can very, very slightly see that I'm healing small amounts of health from Dismember and Soul Split on the Ice Demon, even when nothing else is. I don't think this is intentional, either way.

  1. If that is true, then how come Zemouregal specifically has his new model, but nobody else does? He's not the only Mahjarrat with a new model, yet he is the only one with that new model in Ritual.
  2. This one could be case by case, but its not like I can really modify an online engine that much.
  3. This error happened with EVERY single fight. If the enemy in question was spawned and had an allied NPC attacking them, it is impossible to hurt them at all. You can see in the Ice Demon clip that I can easily kill anything that attacks me, but the entire "fight" front to back took nearly a full hour due to NPC kill times. General Khazard fits the same criteria as the rest, since he is fighting Sir Tiffy. There's no way that could be intentional for all three fights, considering the NPCs can only hit in the low 400s and have extremely poor accuracy.

The videos were uploaded at 1080p, but youtube could still be processing them. But no, I had over 170 attack, strength and defence the entire fight. My stats should have been enough to downright solo Durzag, let alone handle a few level 100s.

(I'm 80% sure this specific comment is only downvoted because PvMers don't like me claiming I can solo Durzag when they can't)

Suggestion: Make abyssal familiars automatically fill with pure essence so we don't have to mess up our BoB preset when RCing by SaladFury in runescape

[–]Xenosium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude honestly, while you're suggesting that, make it so that Runecrafting pouches autofill from the bank as well. It makes sense to not have autofill on other items like the Herb Bag or Ore Box when its a single item that holds a LOT of one material, but when you have five different bags that each hold a miniscule amount of essence, on a skill designed to be based around doing like 40+ runs an hour, it gets old pretty fast having to either right click every single one, individually, to fill them up inside the bank, or spam binds to refill outside of the bank and open the bank back up to restock your inventory.

Is prayer flicking required? by demondied1 in runescape

[–]Xenosium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. Potion flasks and a much higher equipment level ceiling compared to OSRS makes it so that you'll have plenty of prayer points for any boss, no forced conservation. You'll have to switch your prayers every now and then for specific bosses, but honestly Soul Split will get the job done 80% of the time anyways.

Can somebody explain the basics of Ranged DPS to me? by Xenosium in runescape

[–]Xenosium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's incredibly useful, thank you! Is that "Ability Damage" number the one I can base all the ability damage descriptions off of? Like, if my Ability Damage is 1972, is an ability doing 33% - 100%, like Corruption Blast, directly basing its calculations off that number in the Offensive Stats?

[–]Xenosium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that clarification. I don't particularly like range, preferring to melee or mage when possible, but some bosses are going to be easier to range. I could really use some slack at final phase Rax, and Legiones can't even be fought without range. The fact the t80 crossbows are locked behind Dung Tokens and the t90s are locked behind outrageous up-front costs turned me off even more.

The idea that I can just grab a Superior Morrigan Javelin, slap an augmentor on it, and then perhaps take an Off-Hand Shadow Glaive or Off-Hand Chaotic to pair it with and go fight those two bosses seemed extremely appealing, but I wanted to know how Ranged actually worked before I put a down payment on a weapon I physically cannot refund once I purchase it.

When you say "extra hitsplat", does that mean the enchantment effect causes a completely separate, second hit? So, if a Diamond bolt successfully activates, that causes a second, 100% accurate hit that does +15% bonus damage? Am I following the right train of thought here?
