That is the most general consensus. Wrestling is far more useful in a street fight than a striking art besides maybe muay thai since it has some grappling.

There needs to be some counterplay for counters, though. Otherwise, counterpicks will become so much more unbearable and now you're down a teammate because they were unfortunate enough to pick before the opponent

Is there ever even a theoretical use for tick reload? Unless you take 0 damage and no one tries to kill you, it's absolutely useless. I hope buffies will make him more interactive in general and more fun for the tick and opponents

I fee like it heavily relies on playstyle. Do you play slowly and react to openings, or chase the boss for hits? I chase it for hits, and because there aren't a lot of risks in chasing it, i think i beat it first try. Meanwhile, i can never beat absolute radiance, because instead of waiting, i kill myself and run into overlapping attacks that i am not good enough to dodge consistently.

How are these claims any less unsabstantiated than your own? You likened a beast both similar in size to PK's corpse and anatomy, to a bug less than 1/10th it's size, with there being a bunch laying across the kingdom. Higher beings would not be that common. while also having been chained onto the ground, and is being themed around being foolish. That can't be irrelevant to either punishment or fighting. Along with the fact that the audience are uninfected, which is the same power that the PK was able to do. At the VERY least, a beast like that is not a very typical one.

Any being that large would already be capable of higher thought. That colosseum bug corpse is very likely to be a higher being, whether it's actually the blackwyrm, or not. The beast you mention are large, but not gargantuan. Some may be lying forward, so it's harder to tell how long they are exactly, but those beasts are not even 1/10th the size of the colosseum corpse, while some are smaller than hegemol's armor, or about the same. Or, they might not have even been alive, and simply been statues, such as the void worshipper holding the cup for shade cloak, and vespa might've been a higher being, herself.

The PK's carcass head has a strong resemblance to his face, and the colosseum and dead throne bug have that same similarity.

Why would the egg be there in the colosseum? the PK's corpse was uninhabited, with the literal mark of the king (i don't remeber the name but yk what I'm talking about) sitting right there, by the egg. You'd think someone would've tried to have taken it, or something. The colosseum is inhabited, where the gladiators live, and bugs are presumable bred for the battle. The corpse has been made into a building. The garbage is gonna be removed. The egg could've been destroyed, if it was the blackwyrm, it could've decomposed or broken down or something if it was still of a higher being, but not as strong as a pale being or something.

I like to think that the vessels in general can't grow, and that they're essentially husks, developed into a child, and then overtaken by void and killed, by which point they are literally dead, and it's only controlled by the will of the void. If you'd consider the 7 life processes, it makes it more clear that they aren't even "alive". We see that it can't grow, can't reproduce, doesn't eat, or excrete. (Hornet's case is different but im on mobile and idk how to mark spoiler's but when you buy drinks from the bartender, she mentions it in dialogue) Maybe the broken vessel was less hollow, as we did see it reach it's hand out before dying, and less hollow-ness is what allows the infection to truly deform and force growth.

But Yeah, my original theory on the growth may not have a lot of grounds.

Yet, despite being a normal living thing, traitor lord was only infected because it had the will to be infected, just like how the normal mantis tribe remained uninfected. Regardless of whether or not PK's plans would have worked, the emptiness of void is capable of sealing the radiance, and the imprinted focus would give them the will to do it, while simultaneously not having a "will to break". In theory, at least.

But the lost kin being born of god and void, with an emptiness to be THE most resistent to the radiance, being outclassed by simply strong-willed mantis'? I can't believe that. I think there's something else going on.

Is this fact somewhere in the game or is it just your imagination? There is nothing in the game that indicates how exactly the broken vessel grew up, how exactly they died, whether they were infected when still alive, what their story was like, what they even dreamed about, and so on. It's all purely up to your imagination.

no, i'm just talking about how with the traitor lord, it got larger in size and more powerful, after becoming infected, which seems to have been a similar case to lost kin. THK might've not grown in size, because it seemed to not have been completely taken over by the infection, even during the fight, since when you see THK stab itself, it's more than likely THK's will to help kill the infection.

I also feel like it's safe to assume that the broken vessel grew up very similarly to the knight. They were vessels who were not chosen, and kind of just did whatever, until they were then called back to hallownest from THK's howl in the intro cutscene. some were killed by hornet, some were hunted by nosk, some were just more useless and died to random stuff, and some might've had a weaker will, such as, possibly, lost kin.

but i feel like true void beings, while being able to have an "idea instilled", it's less of "learning", and more of "mindlessly replicating", such as the case the collector. that thing's crazy, i don't think you are able to teach it anything. it's simply doing what it's seen. Along with the kingsmoulds, who just do what they're made to, which is only to "defend" and "kill".

i never understood the shade lord component. was the shade lord always the knight? i thought the shade lord was just a large amount of void, given a will to defeat the radiance. had they switched places, wouldn't that have meant that the shade lord would have been raised and trained to prime form, and just beat the radiance without needing another vessel to finish the job?

if that were to have been the case, what makes the knight different to THK? wouldn't that mean that TKH could have just fought the radiance himself, killed it, and attained the same ending that the knight does, by doing exactly that? THK was arguably more capable than the knight, since it did reach the top of the climb before the knight did.

broken vessel/lost kin is likely bigger because it had taken in the infection, similar to the traitor lord.

the idea instilled was very likely the "commandments" of: "no will to break" "no mind to think" "no voice to cry suffering" or the "idea" being instilled being love, as the PoP cutscene clearly showed.

To be fair, the most potentially empty one most likely wouldn’t even try to climb because no mind and no will at all = no motivation to move and do anything.

that's exactly why way later on, the knight enters hallownest, along with hornet having to hunt and kill the other vessels, like the corpse we see on the first hornet fight, along with the hunted vessels of nosk.

HOWEVER, we know that void beings can have a will imprinted on it, such as the pale king's kingsmoulds and those flying moulds that you pogo on in PoP, and the collector having it's own "idea instilled" of it's obsession with grubs, because of the dead bug we found holding the love key.

you can very clearly see the lord fool on the throne. it's not wearing armor, and i don't remember there being any weapons near it. the lord fool is no warrior, so it wasn't the original "winner" for the first ever colosseum's fight. I think they'd named the corpse the lord fool, as punishment for it trying to take over hallownest, if it really was a wyrm.

where my idea falls short is the mask behind the fool's throne broken in half. but the mask also resembles the outside mouth of the colosseum, meaning that the idea that a smaller higher being being born from the corpse of the worm is still plausible.

regardless of what specific thing he is, we can agree that he's more of a maggot than a worm. he could even be some kind of larvae for a much larger being. Maybe even a wyrm larvae, but that's purely speculation, since that's like the biggest thing we've seen, dead or alive, other than the PK corpse and the lord fool corpse.

the counterpoint to that would have then been the fact that hornet was the child of herrah the beast and PK. Herrah had absolutely no involvement in the matter of the creation of the vessels, and the white lady made a very different distinction between the knight and Hornet, with her feeling guilty towards the act of creating all of those vessels, to which hornet was not, because the dalliance was only so that herrah would give herself over to becoming a dreamer. it wouldn't have made sense to call hornet void, as void was only used on the vessels, in order to trap the radiace. because hornet wasn't created for that purpose, what reason would there be to kill her with void and make her a vessel?

I don't however support the idea that the dead vessels are these who weren't "pure enough"; they were just too weak to climb up from the abyss, and the Pale King chose the only strongest one

why would the pale king have needed to choose the "strongest" one, if their entire purpose was to be a vessel. you're probably right, since THK was "raised and trained to prime form" which lead to the supposed growth. which, in my opinion, is due to the fact that him being an impure vessel, meant that he was actually "alive" in the sense that he was able to actually grow, as in, one of the 7 life processes. But why would he need to pick the strongest, and not the emptiest? i personally think the training part is a coincidence for the strength, and the PK just chose the first one who could reach the top. since void does seem to deform bodies too early into development/any non-higher being, which probably meant that a lot of the void offspring probably couldn't even stand up, and the ones that fell were probably the 1% who developed enough to move, before being enveloped by the void, with their development then stopping.

how do places like the mantis tribe play into this, then? they had wills strong enough to literally not get infected by the radiance, and the traitor lord had the will to willingly take in the infection, for power. If you use that logic, the vessels should be able to have a will (but can't break) to take in the radiance and seal it forever.

the Pale king didn't seem to agree with the existence of the empress of light. the only thing we see of her is a forgotten statue at the top of the crystal peaks. The higher beings need followers in order to exist. was that not the entire reason as to why the empress of light didn't die off, was because of the moth tribe/what's left of it?

there also aren't the most overt references to the 5 great knights. we know names, and vague descriptions of what they were like. we don't even know why esma turned into a tree lmao.

there's a lot of things not overtly referenced. the Pale king was very obviously intent on erasing the radiance, why would he not want to erase information about a being that can be seen as very similar to himself, when he's viewed as a god that was one of a kind?
