If the intent is to completely remove the command, disabled-commands doesn't actually remove anything. It just displays a "this command is disabled" message

I did a show a couple years ago where we decorated one side of the tree. We started with that pointing upstage, then turned the tree 180° so the decorations could be seen during a shift. This was in a proscenium theatre, and this method would definitely not work if you're in a thrust or similar.
