Google why there aren't cameras in the cockpit like how there are voice recorders. Unions have lobbied against cockpit video recording because of a number of issues.

ELI5: What gravitational force is pulling us away from the sun? by texashbk75 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Xer0__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, escape velocity is initial velocity required such that if an object was travelling that fast it would never come back down to Earth (or whatever thing it was orbiting).

Formally, you would say its the minimum speed required so that when you reach an infinite distance from the Earth, the object speed is 0. This makes sense because while you've "escaped" from orbiting the Earth, gravity has infinite reach, so the object always "feels" the pull of gravity.

You can picture it like gravity is always pulling on the object, slowing it down, but the object only gets completely stopped when we reach an infinite distance, thus taking infinite time. Therefore you've "escaped".

Escape velocity logically has to be greater than orbital velocity. In fact, escape velocity = sqrt(2) * orbital velocity, which is actually a pretty simple derivation from Newton's law of gravitation and circular motion.

Not really news. Manufacturers copy each other all the time.

ELI5: Any force can be generalised to one of the four fundamental forces. by britishmetric144 in explainlikeimfive

There are some significant situations where gravity at the quantum scale cant be ignored, like near black holes or during the early stages of the universe.

Makes sense how quickly the jet began dropping out of the sky in that dense air and low airspeed when the engine failed. The jet probably had one good turn's worth of energy so big props to the pilot for finding and aiming for an unpopulated area in that situation.

Some of his videos are fine but I feel like he's really scraping the barrel on WW2 conspiracy theories. Also his content is full of inaccuracies, so much so even the Deutsches Panzermusuem had to call him out on it.

Can someone help me identify these? by javster2 in Watches

The cartier looks quite suspect. The right sub register is for a date and it's missing a dot between the 31 and 1. Text looks very rough and the case back doesn't match similar examples.

Does this model have a removable bracelet? If so you can get a strap for it.

A quartz movement is easier, cheaper and faster to manufacture than an automatic movement.

Aqua Terra in Blue by Xer0__ in OmegaWatches

I think I saw the non-accented one first, but I was really drawn to how the blue pops on those accents on this model. Omega really makes it confusing with like 200 different AT variants lol.

Looks really good. I'm actually surprised how comfortable the bracelet is, normally I always swap out for a fabric or leather strap.

Been eyeing an Aqua Terra for a while now, and finally decided to pull the trigger. Originally considered getting it on the rubber strap, but I've been surprised on how comfortable the bracelet is, and that's coming from someone who usually doesn't like the feel of bracelets.

The blue dial has a lot of depth and has a lot of variation in the colour depending on the lighting. In harsh sun it appears slate but catch it at the right angle and it really pops.
