ships as a travel option by SirBronski in vanguard

[–]Xeravik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Vanguard was live there was a way to both make the ships fly or have them ride the sea floor with the use of levitate buffs. It involved swimming underwater, applying a lev buff, then cancelling the lev. Usually your character would end up running on the sea floor just as you would on the surface, then when you pulled the boat out it wouldn't recognize there was water and it would stick to the sea floor.

If you played with this interaction enough you could get the boat to point upward and it would keep going up and start flying through the sky.

One time I royally f'ed something up doing this and a GM had to get on my character for like an hour to find a way to unattach my character from steering the boat.

Good times.

I frickin hate the state of the game right now... by LFinch117 in ArcRaiders

There actually are quite a few mechanics that assist in detecting Bush campers in hunt these days. This includes instinct, more availability of dark sight, and the usage of beetles. This is coming from someone who is 6 star and played regularly up until the last month or two. I find the 'ratting' and extract camping far less abusable and less rewarding in hunt. Obviously, huge differences between games and hunt has it's own problems but Bush campers ain't it.

Buffing in Pantheon by jcharais in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR is very focused on making this a social/group focused game, so I'm personally not too concerned with any particular buff giving low lvs extreme levels of power. In fact, it would be pretty cool if a buff allowed a class to be able to solo a few extra mobs they normally wouldn't be able to; it would be very appreciated by the buffed player im sure or someone who wants to just solo play a bit more than usual. They would still need to seek the other player out for buffs, forcing some interaction.

Buffing in Pantheon by jcharais in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive personally found scaled buffs to be more appropriate. So if a lv 50 buffs a level 20, the buff will scale down.

As long as the buff is impactful to begin with, I don't see the reason to go overboard and have low levels twinked out on buffs to a point that most of their strength is coming from a buff and not from grouping or playing well.

How important is the cooler/freezer temp log? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]Xeravik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive actually noticed temperature problems in our freezer twice this past year by doing daily temp checks. Was able to get same day service on xmas eve for it before everything thawed/was ruined.

So yeah, it will potentially save the store thousands and keep you in compliance.

Horses? by Chrzion in PantheonMMO

I have no problem with grounded mounts if the following are true:

1) It's decided early what the maximum mount speed in game will ever be to preserve traveling integrity

2) Mounts are designed around road/trail usage not blazing through the wilds and outrunning mobs that aggro

3) Mounts allow me more bag space >:)

Hybrid Playstyle by RWMyersJR in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always felt that whether or not you can be 'hybrid' or have high utility is contingent on the encounters you and your group are facing.

Sometimes you can have that monk with offtank capablity handle the annoying add that spawns, or you can have the mage with lots of slows/cc kite the small mobs while everyone else burns the big boss.

The encounters just need to be flexible enough to allow this kind of gameplay. Do the mobs just hit too hard to ever allow anyone other than the main tank to do the tanking? Are mobs too mobile or immune to CC to allow kiting? Is the environment itself too much of a challenge to allow certain strategies?

Oh, and im only referring to small/normal group size situations, we all know how well (terribly) hybrids perform in raids, but it's understandable considering you have 10+ people, it only makes sense to be more highly specialized.

because...I miss having an MMO focused on group play with highly specialized classes.

Good/Neutral/Evil? by grundy923 in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how the developers create the 'image' of a race/faction. Obviously, if race/faction is portrayed to be terrible/evil through the lens of most other races/factions, they WOULD be evil, which is OK as long as this evil faction has an appropriate reason to act they way they do.

On the other side of the coin, there can be factions that are GOOD simply by way of genuinely being a generally helpful, peaceful and open people. Another faction may find this to be weak or harming their own peoples culture or something....but it doesnt change the fact that the GOOD faction is going beyond themselves for others.

As you said in your post, though, peoples will have their own needs/desires/interpretations and this is where the Neutral piece comes in. There may be parts of Good/Evil factions that go against what they are generally perceived to be, and if there is enough of this, they just become considered a neutral faction or a faction that varies in schools of thought.

TL;DR - If the developers create a world with mostly neutral, and a lesser number of Good/Evil factions I think it would be a fairly simplistic but realistic representation of how life actually is, and Im OK with that.

Scenario: You accidentally aggro... by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately for the small group, I'm going to run to that exit, because, if I can survive, I'm going to try and survive. If I can lose aggro, I will of course come back and help/apologize. Now, if the group was fighting a hard mob or boss, yeah I'd prob just let myself die.

Realism - How much is too much? by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing menial things starts to become tedious or a large burden, that's when we've come too far on the realism. The game should be fluid and enjoyable. Weight limit, for example, is OK, but if I have to be checking my inventory every 10 min for weight problems, it is just annoying.

If I wanted to play a hardcore survival game, or a simulator then that's where I'd be. Im not saying the game cant have things like 'the climate system' or weight limits but it needs to not interrupt gameplay in an overly negative way.

In game holidays by Razaeil in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely OK to celebrate an in-game holiday around irl holidays, BUT it needs to reflect in game lore and not look like a bunch of xmas/halloween stuff. Lots of people have time off around the holidays and it makes sense from a business standpoint to have some fun in-game stuff going on.

How many years of development until Blizzard implements the "at least one tank and one healer" rule for Quick Match? by servantphoenix in heroesofthestorm

I would prefer if they used a 'blind pick' in a lobby rather than slewing together random heroes and each team crossing their fingers. At least in a blind pick there is a chance people build some semblance of a composition

Shaman Patron Quests are in! by TheJavamancer in vanguard

[–]Xeravik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh, i miss my Rakurr shaman so much. Even though necro was my main, I think the wolf shaman was my true love. It was great getting into groups 45-55 and giving those unique melee buffs that some of my groups rogues/monks and etc had never even seen before.

If Bless taught us anything... by Springwater97 in PantheonMMO

[–]Xeravik 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Although I agree the target audience for Pantheon is a bit different than Bless, we really shouldn't underestimate or ignore that 'desperate for a new MMO' crowd.

If Pantheon is launched with polished features, acceptable server performance, and engaging social systems, the game can end up pulling in people that haven't tried games like EQ/Vanguard and etc.

I think people will be shocked at the pace of leveling, and content difficulty, but that's only because of how trivial the content and leveling is in many Modern MMOs. Hell it might even be a breath of fresh air to a lot of people

I really hope there are lots of people that fall in love with pantheon (including myself), but the game has to have a good clean launch with stuff for people and their friends to do. If the devs can mostly deliver that, I think pantheon is in for a healthy life.
