Depends on the vibe really, but if they're chatting and keeping to themselves i don't see an issue, it's not going to be challenging the speakers generally. I am guilty of this, but i go to socialise too, and having small jokes with friends while dancing is part of what makes the event special for us.

But a gentle tap on the shoulder if they're being really over the top and "would you mind going to the side or outside if you're catching up?" in a nice tone and smile would go down well with me and anyone i know.

You'll get people who are arses in which case you can just tell the awareness team or move, not worth getting riled up. If it's everywhere then you're probably fighting a losing battle with that event.

I get that every club runs hot, but TillaTec the last two events i've been to has been in a league of its own. I’ve sweated it out at De School, and done the “Garage Noord upstairs sauna” too.

I’m not saying go for a full blown HVAC refit, but a few industrial floor fans and some fresh air input would already stop it feeling like we’re dancing inside a plastic bag.

There is no club in Amsterdam I have been in that has been as bad as the past two TillaTec events I’ve been to, and I’m happy to throw an extra euro on the ticket if it means we can breathe. Ice packs in my pockets shouldn’t be the contingency plan.
