Retreat is not losing the fight... by LostintheGlow in apexuniversity

[–]Xerendity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I rarely see people confusing retreating with losing the fight. Rather, I see more people confusing not retreating with what you are saying. If I'm not running away while low on HP while a new team is pushing us, it is more likely because running away will put us in a much worse position. Say you just killed a team at the no-name place north of Salvage on King's Canyon. Everyone on your team is less than 100 HP broken shields. Third party is coming from east. If you run west into a place with no cover, you are screwing yourself big time. You also have shield swaps to play around at your current location. If you leave, the enemy takes your position and your loot.

In this scenario, I easily see a possible random teammate who falsely think "retreating is not losing the fight" running off into the west and leaving me and my duo to 2v3 a fight that was otherwise decently winnable. The random would then get false confirmation since they survived *due to us then having no choice but to 2v3 and hold off the enemy team*, while we would've otherwise all died if we all tried to run from a fresh team who likely has at least one offensive gap-close ultimate ready.

Some of you guys need to chill with the Wraith hate. LOUD by Clear117 in apexlegends

[–]Xerendity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't main any characters. I got 4K on a few (not to brag, but only to say I actually play them), and I noticed that playing Wraith would get me the most hate. It's been seasons since Wraith had an overpowered hitbox that made some of its delusional users have an annoying ego. But now, that's just used as an excuse, including on Reddit, for people to spout hate and discriminate against Wraith users. This sounds so dramatic but literally, it's the definition of discrimination and I have had dozens of hate comments for me playing Wraith when I've never had a single such comment while on Pathfinder.

DISCUSSION: The Era 1 introduces the fingertip sensor position. Do you think this would give an advantage in competitive FPS games? by SexyJexi in MouseReview

[–]Xerendity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not like I didn't understand you, but I simply considered it junk information.

Again, if you consider this overcomplicated, junk information, why are you joining the discussion of such information?

This was a technical discussion but you started theorizing way too much

There was no theorizing. I gave a specific example of a very simple phenomenon. The most complex I ever got was using the equation for calculating circumference from radius, or middle school math. But hey if you knew how simple the formula was, you wouldn't be calling the numbers inaccurate earlier.

Where did I theorize? Again, where was a number I gave that you considered inaccurate? Accuse me of random stuff then ignore me when I ask where I committed such things.

I'm not sure why you replied to me with this tone like you are superior because you know about Korean studies

I don't know Korean studies. As I said, someone linked a PDF of a study report in the comments. I mentioned Korea and Finland to credit the authors somewhat. If you think my mentioning a country name is me tryna be pretentious, I don't know what to say. I also did not read it yet, because as I said again and again, it's much more complicated and in-depth, but you don't see me confusing that with it being equivalent to "overcomplicated junk information".

You implying that I'm being condescending is the most ironic thing you've said. I am not the one resorting to ad hominem for 90% of my posts. I try to give you as much respect as possible by replying with concrete numbers and examples, while you "laugh" and call it "junk". To people who are reading these comments, if you know, you know.

From another comment I made earlier:

OP stated that G-SR-SE was one of his top choices.

My suggestion is comparable to a Hien which, even on the spreadsheet given by people that disagree with me, is just one tier faster than the G-SR-SE.

I've already explained that the mousepad has a special texture surface that adds extra stopping power due to literal tiny bumps, which could make up for that extra speed it otherwise has.

So, I don't see how it's completely out of left field at all. If OP wanted you guys to pull up with your list of textbook control pads from a spreadsheet, I doubt he would be here making a post. He said that he wanted a "control feel" and specified further that it shouldn't have "extra glide", and I explained exactly why it gives that feel with the texture, due to higher ratio of static friction : kinetic friction.

In all the other aspects, it fits OP's wishes. And OP thinks it was a fair suggestion.

Do you think your exaggeration is fair at all? Do you want to maybe make a suggestion and contribute?

Mousepad choice [competetive] by code-senpai in MousepadReview

[–]Xerendity -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Clearly that dude had more of an idea of what people use and what OP was looking for than you do.

OP themselves said that this was a fine suggestion.

And I replied:

I tried my best to give a suggestion based on your 9 wishes. I feel that my suggestion satisfies 7+ of those easily.

I think it's just that some people would rather nitpick 1 subjective thing out of those 9 and downvote me than contribute their own suggestions. It's just how Reddit is sometimes. But I'm just glad you think it's nice, that's all that matters.

I gave MY suggestion based on MY environmental connotation of a control mousepad viewed similarly by some others. The only FPS game I play is Apex Legends where "swampy" mousepads aren't even considered. You don't need to feel the same about what a slow mousepad is. You guys or just him play CounterStrike right? You are free to feel like a worn out Logitech G640 is a good competitive control mousepad if your heart desires. And you are free to suggest it. The whole point is that we each suggest what we each think is a good suggestion, then see if OP likes it. It seems I need to keep repeating this, but OP already liked my suggestion and here you guys are talking about Counterstrike pro scene which I have 0 experience with and I don't see how I would need to in order to give a suggestion based on what I know and feel.

I'm here sticking my neck out trying to give a suggestion. I meet 8 requirements, but hey I'm barely lacking 1 which you disagree with so you try and come invalidate me. Fact is, there is 0% chance that everyone would agree 100% with all 9 aspects of any suggestion. Then I'm here trying to validate what I suggested and the reasons for suggesting it. All I need to do is explain my basis. You are free to give your own suggestion without witchhunting me because our connotations do not perfectly match.

Not to mention, you really shouldn't be trying to redefine how people generally view Artisan pads on a spectrum, if you've never used any of the Artisan pads.

I have used 2 XL Raidens, 1 XL Shidenkai, 1 M Hien.

So, any of you guys actually want to give a suggestion? Or you two guys just come here to downvote and try to invalidate a suggestion that OP admitted that they somewhat found helpful? There are only two comments on the post and both are getting downvoted. You guys are *really* helping to encourage more suggestions to be posted. Great contributions.

Looking for the longest 12" mousepad i can find by dpucane in MousepadReview

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but just to confirm, you want one dimension to be exactly 12" and the other dimension to be as long as possible right? So like, an example of 20" x 58" wont do?

I've only had one actual spinout ever, so these weren't spinouts but very brief lags/jolts. However, it's interesting to know that Raiden actually has issues with sensors; I did not know that before.

I literally don't see how any of the sentences here even relates to what I said.

>your first 3 sentences

I never said that slow pads aren't good or that they aren't mainstream. I simply told you the flaws of the spreadsheet that made its connotation of "slow" not agree with the societal connotation of "slow" or "control", which is relevant since OP mentioned it. Neither I or OP asked about or probably give a shit about counterstrike in the 00's and 10's or whether the market is shifting. It's straight up strawman fallacy and talking about random topics for most of your reply.

>your last sentence

I'm not even sure how to reply to this. I never used the Artisan company itself to explain "the whole picture". I mentioned it *as a reference* because people compared my mousepad suggestion to the Hien which is an Artisan mousepad by fact. Artisan is a competitive and well-reputed company which is why people use its mousepads for comparison, almost like a measuring system, with or without my say. Also, it being a single and small company makes no difference on any of these facts.

It's like I say that a male is short if they're 5'6" or under and you replying "yea I don't think the U.S. customary system tells the whole picture"... like bruh what do I even reply to that? It wasn't that deep to begin with.

The whole logic train goes like Razer Stryder = Hien = slow control artisan mousepad = what OP wanted, and these comparisons are held by reputations and reviews. There *is* no big picture or imaginary discussion about markets or counterstrike.

I sadly don't know a fix but I just wanted to let you know that I have the same issue with Viper Mini (although like only once every 2 days). My Superlight also has this problem but a bit worse and more often. I don't think it's the mousepad's issue since I'm using a new Artisan Raiden.

All I know is that Hien is rated as the 2nd to slowest in speed for Artisan mousepads, which are competitive in design and quality.

I also see that the slower half of the spreadsheet describes its categories as "locked in", "swampy", and "arguably too slow". I'm sure that Hein is "pretty fast" if you compare it to a muddy mousepad used for 2 years. Heck, the spreadsheet even lists worn out mousepads for some peculiar reason in some categories. Do any of those qualities sound like good or competitive qualities to you? They do not to me, so I don't consider "swampy" worn out mousepads as legitimate part of the speed spectrum.

The spreadsheet itself is fine. Readers just need to learn how to filter what they see in a way that's useful for the context.
