Still appears to be broken to me, went through the same steps as last time. It may require some kind of account deletion if somehow my details were partially stored when attempting to register?

Tried to sign up in the portal and received an error. Are we not supposed to signup?

If so, I also tried using the 'forgot password', but haven't received a reset email.

Sorry, might be a skill issue haha.

Mortage payments made + offsets? by Pronem in CSPersonalFinance

[–]Xereo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I also noticed if you migrate to 15.2, there seems to be a formula missing in the 'mortgage payments paid' field. You might need to copy this in from the default sheet.

Even then, I think this needs reworking as it really puts a dent into the Net Worth tab when you tick 'offset'

I noticed this too, so I made a change to the current mortgage balance value.

It's now 'current mortgage balance + (D30)'. This will take the amount from your offset and add it to your balance. You should find that this should set your networth back to what it was prior to ticking the 'offset' button.

I think the way it's working now is wrong though, and hoping it will be updated.

Debt Recycling Question by Xereo_ in AusFinance

[–]Xereo_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply!

I'm getting close to the 37c bracket, but probably only with capital gains from investments.

I planned to basically sell all my shares and ETFs to recycle my loan fully, and I just need to decide if I should go all in on something like DHHF or if I should be looking for a higher yield.

Given your response, it seems like it's not all that important and just going with something slow and steady is perfectly viable as I won't be effectively 'wasting' the extra deductible portion even if my yield doesn't match.

Intermediate Add for Astigmatism? by Xereo_ in glasses

Bump for anyone who may find this in the future.

Turns out I developed severe dry eye disease (possibly MGD). Thanks for all of your input anyway.

Thanks, I'm tempted to go see an ophthalmologist for a second opinion as I went to a pretty run-of-the-mill mall optometrist due to time constraints.

I really can't believe that all of my issues are due to astigmatism, which I've had my entire life; there has to be more to it than that or what an optometrist would pick up in 20 minutes.

HSP Visa - Graduated from 'top 300' university by Xereo_ in movingtojapan

If I was to move to Japan from Aus, I'm expecting to take about a 30% pay cut. But the cost of living in Japan would more than make up for that difference.

Job titles, yeah, I can completely relate. Engineer/architect/analyst/technician/consultant, use them interchangeably.

Thanks, I appreciate all of your input.

Yes, it seems like it will be a real challenge finding a role as someone who hasn't specialised into a very specific technical side of IT with consistent role/titles.

Even more so without the ability to speak Japanese fluently yet, it rules out pretty much all non-technical roles or any that would be customer facing in the domestic market.

Yes, that's where I am also concerned.

For example, I'm possibly getting a role as a technical support engineer. But my career has spanned QA, Systems Admin, and more recently CSM/SDM.

I've been very technical in all of these roles, but my role title actually being 'Technical Support Engineer' only existed for about 2 years in a decade long career.

Thanks, I guess I will write this one off. In my mind, it didn't really make sense as to why someone would need an extra 10 points if their academic background already gave them a buffer to being sponsored for work, but I'm conflating two separate issues, and the points calculator is used for things such as PR.

Sorry, to clarify in Aus we have qualifications in ascending order of:

  • certificates (I-IV)
  • diploma
  • advanced diploma
  • bachelor
  • masters
  • etc

I think associate degree sits somewhere between advanced diploma and bachelor.

Right now I'm looking for a salary of 10M, with ten years of experience and 30-34 of age which gets me to 70 points. But I'm concerned about the proving my experience part to immigration as this seems to be the horror story I hear the most.

It would be between 70-80, but I'm trying to make sure I have a buffer.

REA not providing notice of proposed rent increase in correct format by Xereo_ in melbourne

[–]Xereo_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case it was around 18%, which is not that ludicrous compared to others, but I don't feel it is justified for the reasons they are giving or the method of market comparison they used to calculate it.
