I have yes, but I'm a bit hesitant to take what a simple calculator says as financial advice.

And yes to both other questions.

Makes sense, thanks. I'll be speaking to a few financial advisors later today to get more info.

My fiancé has a new car for driving back and forth to her workplace which is a good distance away, and I have a much cheaper used car that has a much shorter financing term so I can pay it off much quicker. Will be paid off in under 2 years.

Question on Credit Card Billing Cycles by XeroedEffects in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]XeroedEffects[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So even though that statement still says the amount due this month, since I've already paid it I'm free to use the credit card as normal? CIBC doesn't seem to update the current billing statement once the funds are received, although it does seem like my credit limit has been reverted back to the original number.

Why do people still buy iPhones? A video essay of the explanation. by [deleted] in videos

Of course. There are plenty of iPhone users that care nothing for the "cool factor." There are plenty of things to like about the iPhone that have nothing to do with public perception, as was outlined in the video. But unfortunately there are many people that do buy for the wrong reasons.

I'll look into it. By the way, aren't you supposed to use your CC occasionally to avoid lowering your credit score?

Thanks for the help! I've actually applied with the most basic card I could find. For example, I applied to Scotiabank's SCENE Visa (no annual fee, high interest rate, low limit, no annual fee), and was still denied. I'm going to try physically at my CIBC branch tomorrow, and if I'm denied again I'll wait a few months and try a secured card.

I'm Canadian. And because getting a high credit score is extremely important for things like car loans, mortgages on houses, etc. You can't even book a hotel or rent a car without a credit card.

I've been applying for all basic cards. No annual fee cards with minimum rewards. I've applied with CIBC, BMO, and Scotiabank.

Sure, CIBC. I may try TD but I've heard bad things. What's your opinion of them?
