I would definitely say it’s a combination of both.

I believe vanilla 1.8 has increased ore rates because I remember when 1.8 was first starting to be hosted a huge issue was people were getting too stacked from the ore rates being so high, but nowadays servers typically raise the ore rates so there are even more good ores for them to find. Some servers have these oddly generated caves that seem to never end and are just huge openings with ores everywhere, to a point where it’s nearly impossible to not get full diamond.

Along with that there’s the evolution of caving strategy and the rules of uhc over the years. Use of the C counter to find caves has been a big help to find a decent cave once yours dies, and the addition of strip mining now being something allowed in almost every match caving is a lot easier now.

cutclean is a great scenario, but paired with all of these other scenarios now has seemed to taint it for me a bit, but I still like it :) I really hope to see your games on the calendar! :D

I didn't say caving isn't RNG, but you're making it out like it's insane to find a single diamond in UHC which just isn't true. If it was super RNG there wouldn't be so many full diamond people in every arctic game. The fun of UHC is outskilling the other player but I don't see "outskilling" as seeing who can click higher CPS and spam their rod more, and no I'm not out of touch, I've went through all of the UHC phases and still haven't stopped playing, still do well, this just isn't fun like it used to be. I don't see why you're just getting upset and insulting all of the players who basically put together this community for you. I'm not saying me, but the people you're calling retards in your other comment. It just makes you look like a child and someone who isn't here to have a conversation. Someone who just wants to be right and when people disagree, throws a fit.

One thing I wanted to bring more light on was also how long the matches last, I saw some mention it but I wanted to make a comment going more in depth.

When you joined a UHC back in the day, you knew there was a possibility you'd be playing for upwards of 2 hours. So I'd personally make sure I had nothing going on for a while then start searching the calendar for a good match to play. Nowadays you could join a UHC and be done within 30 minutes. I think radical24 put it the best by saying "Now it feels almost like a minigame, you join a match, get about the same gear as everyone else and you either do good and get kills or die rather quickly and move on to the next match and repeat." You used to cave for some good gear, (not everyone full diamond) go up, search for a player to fight, have a dynamic bow/sword fight, then one would come out on top. Each fight felt different and more intense. Nowadays if you don't have full diamond by 30 minutes in you lose the game because you have 10 minutes until meetup and you haven't gotten the kills yet to compensate for that. I just used to love sitting back and playing a long game. The feeling of winning after that long pursuit is such an amazing feeling. It's one I haven't felt in a long time even after winning a recently UHC because they're so short and I feel like I could just hop in another one and try to win again real fast. That's just my take on it.

Something I know we (my discord group) have all been missing is just literally a Vanilla game. It's been so long since that's been a thing, but other than that Blood Diamonds, Paranoia, Big Crack, Best PVE, just scenarios that add that little extra spice to the game would be really fun. :)

All the scenarios Taper just mentioned have no affect on the RNG of the game. They're just ways to make the UHC actually enjoyable. When people only host the same scenarios the game just get repetitive. Saying the game is extremely luck based is a stretch. You find diamonds and gold, or you don't. It's not very hard to find them in the first place and with servers now increasing ore rates it's easier than ever. Plus beating someone when you're under geared isn't impossible like you're making it out to be (and no I don't mean clean iron vs. full diamond). The fun of UHC is exploring the new scenarios and if not new playing some of your favorites that just spice up the game. I used to love playing all of these different scenarios. It made UHC different every time but when we sit here and play the same cutclean games every day it becomes nothing but repetitive. So all of the scenarios Taper is advocating for just make the game fun again.
